So is this guy an advisor to the police or is he a commissioner? It states both in the article. I would imagine if he is a commissioner he has a lot to answer for. This has got to be a real embarrassment for the RTP, and it takes a lot to embarrass them. The other question I have is who were the other people that were injured in the wild west style gunfight? Were they patrons of the bar? And then the last thing that comes to mind is one would hope that if a guy rises to the rank of commissioner that he would have the common sense to have a discussion with the sargeant, and work things out like a normal human beings, rather than pull out his gun and take the man's life like a raging homicidal maniac. The death penalty sounds appropriate.

Top Japanese AV Stars Announced for 2024 Expo in Thailand
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Two things that come to mind when I hear about this, number one is I'm pleasantly surprised that they're authorities are even allowing something like this to take place, and number two is I wonder why they're risking the tremendous degree of moral degradation that can be associated with the level of excitement people will have in meeting their idols. LOL. -
That's a very valid point, he stands a very good chance of winning the election if he can somehow arrest himself from his major decline since Biden bowed out. If he could get back on message even 50% of the time he would win the election, but it does appear that his uncontrollable ego is his own worst enemy. Oh well.

This has got to have some of his supporters squirming and wondering if he is going to be able to get back on message, and stop floundering like a 13 year old with the insult hurling and bullying.

How the US Media Sees the Political Situation in Thailand
spidermike007 replied to Nickcage49's topic in Political Soapbox
They are correct. However Thailand is not a struggling democracy. It is something else entirely. -
The size of the Russian organization set up for campaign disinformation and fake news on social media would stun most people. Most are in denial. Anyone who wants to know how malicious Russia is in this arena should watch the documentary Active Measures from 2018. Some great insight into how they manipulated the media in 2016 and helped to get Trump elected. And they are doing it again. He is their wet dream and he is Putin's lapdog, a friend to all dictators, and an enemy to democracy.

Walz is a very likable guy. Vance is not. And Vance has no idea how to control his message and says things that no intelligent campaigner would say. Maybe Trump should start by quitting hurling derogatory nicknames and ad hominem insults at his foes. He can ding Kamala on policy without making crass comments or veering into petty pot shots about her looks or gender that might make women balk. Every time he does that, he likely loses thousands of votes. He and his running mate must certainly avoid missteps like the one Vance made in 2021, when he blasted “childless cat ladies” who run the country but are “miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made.” He also foolishly suggested penalizing women without kids with higher taxes. For real? Vance’s comments resurfaced recently and spread like wildfire on social media, drawing backlash from even conservative women. Trump and Vance need to reassure women that they take them seriously as a voting bloc, and they have no interest in pushing national policy that controls women’s decisions on family matters. The GOP ticket knows women will play a major role in deciding this election — perhaps they should start acting like it.

Editorial Immigration and the New Government

When was the last time we have seen any investigative reporting in Thailand? What you said was the understatement of the decade. Total complicity and cooperation. -
I really do find quite fascinating how offended Trump/Vance supporters get when you criticize them. Objectively speaking Trump is likely the most offensive, most ignorant, and most ill informed politician of my lifetime. Every time he opens his mouth his incredible level of ignorance is on full display, he rarely ever talks about substance, and he spends the vast majority of his time name calling and criticizing everyone that he doesn't like. I am a Harris/Walz supporter by default. You can criticize them all you want, I might respond but I really don't get offended by what any of you say. I don't really care that much, I don't like politicians all that much, on either side of the spectrum. I am not married to an ideology. But, Trump makes Bush Jr. and Nixon look like regal Statesmen!

I could cite an unlimited number of examples of how phony these numbers are, and how they do not reflect the cost of living for the majority of people in the US. To account for quality upgrades, CPI statisticians in the United States introduced an extremely obfuscated concept called “hedonic adjustment,” which lowers prices in the CPI calculations to offset the higher quality. Determining the monetary value of these improvements is arbitrary and introduces subjectivity into the process, potentially distorting the inflation rate. Another major blind spot of CPI calculations is that they exclude asset prices, completely neglecting the market value of financial and real assets such as stocks, bonds, real estate and other investments. This renders the metric highly problematic, as changes in asset prices disproportionately affect the wealth of individuals with higher incomes. A measure that fails to account for these variables is an unreliable policy tool. It also creates a distorted picture of reality, leading to stock market or real estate bubbles. However, the most widely criticized aspect of the CPI is that the goods and services that the fixed basket includes are assigned different weights by CPI statisticians, based on their relative importance to the average household. For instance, they might assume that rental costs account for 30 percent of total household expenditures, food and beverages for 20 percent, transportation for 10 percent, and so on. Obviously, the higher the relative importance or weight that a certain item is assigned, the more influential that item becomes in the total calculation. For example, if fuel prices suddenly explode, then those particular price increases are seen as “driving inflation,” as we saw two winters ago, especially in Europe. https://www.gisreportsonline.com/r/cpi-inflation/

And do you know why? We are just simply having too much fun, this is more fun than than a blockbuster movie, this is more fun than the Eiffel Tower, this is more fun than popping a great bottle of wine. I'm beside myself with the amount of fun that I'm having.

Those numbers are totally fake. I don't know what commodities they're are basing those fake numbers on, but please try to explain to me why it is that every 6 months when I go back for a visit everything is 10% higher. That feels like a whole lot more than 1.5% you are quoting to me. And everyone I know back there saying the same thing they cannot believe how much prices are skyrocketing and they've barely settled down.

Well you keep on bringing up politics, but for me there's alot of quality of life issues, and though I do blame Newsom for a lot of problems California is facing, in general I don't blame the left, nor the right. Both are at fault. I really don't like either party. I spend a lot of time in California and though I do enjoy being there for a few weeks at a time it's certainly not any place I would want to live at this point, and after a few weeks I'm very ready to get out and come back here. I too am sad for the US. It faces two bad choices. But, Biden is no longer running and if Trump cannot figure out a way to re-calibrate his message and the campaign, he is gone, baby gone.
-
Okay I get it, thank you for breaking down the difference. What the US is experiencing right now is not hyperinflation, it's just insane inflation. And it started with Trump. There is shared blame here.

I understand how difficult this whole process must be for you, and for your fellow Trump supporters. Watching your candidate disintegrate before your eyes, watching him melt down, watching him dissolve into a state of semi-senility and incoherence has to be a difficult thing to deal with. I get the frustration.

The article is written by Justin Haskins, the director of the Socialism Research Center at The Heartland Institute and the co-author, with Glenn Beck, of the forthcoming book “The Great Reset: Joe Biden and the Rise of 21st Century Fascism.” Is that what you consider to be a credible source of accurate info?

Delays loom for Thai-Chinese high-speed railway project
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Just agree to all of China's conditions. Have them build high speed rail all over the nation and have them do it quickly. Then, like most other nations on the Belt and Road initiative, just default. Free money. China is going to lose a trillion dollars, and who cares? -
I believe Trump started this hyper inflationary cycle when he declared an insane trade war on China and Huawei, with hardly anything to back him up, other than hollow threats, and sanctions, which only hurt the US economy, and US consumers and businesses. The Chinese sensed sanctions coming and went out and cornered the world market on rare earth, chips, motherboards, circuit boards, and other materials. Companies started ramping down production due to Covid. When they started to order these elements and parts, none were to be found or the price had skyrocketed. It started a massive supply chain issue with cell phone, computer and automotive components. Then the shipping issues came later. Few want to look back at where this started. At the time I said it was the single dumbest thing a politician had done since Chamberlain denied the bad intentions of the Nazis. Trump created hyper inflation, singlehandedly. Thanks, Don.
