  1. I agree, I watched it on AIS play too, and I thought the coverage was brilliant, and love the fact that nearly all of it was in English.
  2. I listed seven. You want more, or didn't you read the post?
  3. Well this is a good start, though it seems like a bit of an overreach. Now, if only they would get on to investigating, arresting, and convicting top active (not former) officials in the army, the administration, the police, customs, and immigration we could then say that Thailand is moving forward, and that the nation resembles an open and progressive democracy.
  4. For some of us noodles are one of the highlights of Thai food, and the various preparations that the Thais use to create these extraordinary noodle dishes make Thai food one of my favorites on the planet.
  5. 1. The New York Post is about as far from anything that can be referred to as real media as is possible. 2. The conservatives are going to complain about any article that praises Harris, and criticizes Trump, what else is new? 3. Anytime Trump is not considered to be the greatest human on earth he gets offended his skin is thinner than tissue paper and that's very unbecoming for a man in his position. It says a lot about his extraordinary lack of self-esteem, masked by alot of bluster. Nobody who feels good about themselves, nobody who has any kind of self esteem, or self love, needs to constantly refer to themselves as being the best, the greatest, the brightest, and the hugest.
  6. I tend to agree, I think Harris and Trump are both bad choices, however I will say of the four people on the ticket the only one that I like is Walz, he seems like a decent human being.
  7. Everything about the con-man referred to as Trump is unlikeable. He's everything wrong with the human animal, all stuffed into one specimen. In my opinion he started to fade in the last year of his presidency. He may have had a minor stroke. Since then, it has been a steady downhill path. Far less coherent than in the past, very hard for him to continue a sentence for more than 15 seconds, alot of rambling, complaining, playing the victim card, and juvenile name calling as usual. Even most of the CEO's he met with a month ago were shocked at how lacking his message was. And now, he seems to regret his choice of Vance, and seems very stressed out over Harris. Can't blame him for that. He does seem to be imploding. And that is a wonderful thing not only for America, but for the entire planet.
  8. A Russian who overstays his visa is the least of their problems. Now they have invited in the Bratva, by opening up the country to all Russians. Quantity over quality only works if you are selling $2 items at a swap meet. Dumb and dumber. Thailand is no longer attracting very many Western tourists for a dozen very good reasons. Right now it is predominantly Malaysian, Indian, Arab, Chinese, and Russian. One could argue that these are relatively low quality tourists, in terms of the amounts of money that they spend. Sure you have a few wealthy Russians and some wealthy Chinese, but most are lower to middle income and don't spend alot. Except the Chinese and Russian gangsters and crime families. This process will not be reversed until the authorities wake up and make some sacrifices such as lowering luxury taxes, lowering wine taxes, cleaning up the air, making the highways safer, allowing more private air travel, helicopter travel, high-speed trains and alternatives to the totally choked and extremely hazardous highways.
  9. I switched to the retirement visa. Got sick of being asked to prove I was married every year. It was too much hassle and paperwork. I don't like the immigration people, and prefer to avoid their ridiculousness. The retirement visa is so simple.
  10. So why is the stock valuation so high? Just another indication of how fake and jacked up Wall Street prices are right now. The balloon is about to burst. Everything this man touches fails.
  11. The only way things will change here is if the Thai people show the army they are very serious, and will not tolerate being manipulated and shoved around. The people are going to have to make some major sacrifices. But, it will happen. It is just a matter of time. The Jurassic era is drawing to a close. There will never be another military coup here. Think about it. The moral authority that backed the coups in the past, is long gone. And the army does not have the guts to wage war against their people, Burmese style. It won't happen. The families of the soldiers would never tolerate their sons murdering innocent Thais. The moms would say "you murder one Thai, and you are never welcome back into our family home again. Listen to me. Do not do this". And you would have massive army defections. Who will fight at that point? Not the cowardly generals? They would flee into exile with their billions, and the army might collapse, or give up, at that point.
  12. I certainly agree with you with regard to this. The Chinese performances seemed nothing short of miraculous, and I guess miracle drugs help to create miracles, especially under the auspicises of a morally bankrupt regime. It would be nice to see the international regulatory agencies like WADA less partial, less corrupt, and less influenced by a generous and corrupt giant.
  13. I do agree with that, and yes I've run into a number of guys who are living on an extreme budget, and my heart goes out to them because there are a few things in life that I enjoy less, then counting my pennies.
  14. Wow. You sure have a tremendous amount of skill when it comes to taking a feel-good moment and flipping it on its head. However having said that, I think if a very conclusive amount of testing was done, China and Russia would probably be found to be the nations who cheated the most, when it came to doping their athletes.
  15. Very true, Trump is a great example, he wakes up every morning with a sour taste of bile in his mouth, and an absolute state of misery, and he feels the need to project that onto everyone and anyone that he encounters, everywhere he goes. He is one of the most bitter and hateful men I've ever encountered in my lifetime. And it's a fascinating thing to witness because they say that heaven and hell is not elsewhere, but it's right here, right now within our own minds. So I can only imagine the hell that that man is experiencing 24/7. Despite his wealth.
  16. Most Thais are very cool and I found a lot of them to be very honest. However it's difficult to leave stupidity behind, so if you're not careful and you're not cautious and you're not using common sense at home, if you go anywhere else, the same is going to apply. You just have to use common sense, especially with strangers and especially online. And that always applies when your offered something that's too good to be true!
  17. After three medals in weightlifting, the Thais have ended up with a total of six medals, which is quite an accomplishment. Kudos to them for an excellent Olympics performance, Panipak, and the men's weightlifting was especially impressive.
  18. The US has had another very successful Olpymics. They edged out China, by tying them on the gold medal count at 40, and winning a grand total of 126 medals. The UK and France also excelled. Kudos to them. And the closing ceremony made up for those silly parts of the opening ceremony. It was quite grand. Going to miss the Olympics. The AIS streaming coverage was excellent. What an event.
  19. I do agree that money does give people choices, it helps people to deal with problems and challenges, and it improves the overall quality of life, there's no doubt about that. I have no issues with money or wealth, or people that have great wealth, as long as they use it to do some good in the world. My only objection was that I don't think that it brings happiness, on any level. As far as being stuck in Thailand, some of us love being here, and many of us are thrilled about being here. I love my life here on a daily basis. Granted if I were wealthy I'd be doing more traveling and I would probably only be in Thailand 4 to 6 months of the year, but I would still be spending quite a bit of time here.
  20. This guy is obviously a lowlife, as is a lot of his family, but having said that I love the fact that someone is bringing PT headaches. It's a good thing after they stole the election from the people, they should be criticized, and given as many headaches as possible!
  21. One can only hope wish and pray that many of the creeps holding back the nation end up behind bars, or exiled. At this point, it seems like a distant dream. But, things have a way of changing and evolving and these goons are in the way of that change and progress.
  22. There is much to be concerned about. Srettha is the do nothing, unelected PM. There is so much room for improvement. Thailand ranks 131st in freedom of speech, 127th in freedom of assembly, 114th in governance, 136th in institutional trust, 102nd in executive constraints, 84th in contract enforcement, 84th in adult skills, 116th in emissions, 118th in the protection of forests, land and soil, 82nd in restrictions on international investment, according to the The 2023 Legatum Prosperity Index? https://docs.prosperity.com/3716/7689/5368/Thailand_2023_Picountryprofile.pdf

  24. Prices are up, inflation continues its march, and income for many Thais who are not successful entrepreneurs, or government workers, is down. Tourism numbers are up, but will not recover anytime soon, in terms of real income or profits for the industry. The quality of tourists continues to drop, the average spend is down, and occupancy rates are low. In addition, exports are down, and we have not even seen a real recession hit yet overseas. Nor has the market correction come yet. So, there are still alot of headwind that Thailand faces. Srettha has a litany of unfulfilled promises and is the do nothing, unelected PM. He represents many things that are wrong with Thailand. Of course the people are concerned. No progress on joining the OECD. No Schengen visa-free deal. No real progress on a trade deal with the European Union. And major pushback on his government’s “digital wallet” and “Land Bridge” schemes. “BRICS is thus played to domestic audiences as a deliverable achievement. 25. Never. Security, yes. Happiness? Absolutely not. Happiness comes from within. This world has far more poor people who are far closer to happiness than rich ones. Just take a look around. The richest countries have some of the least happy people.
