Your reply was in regard to this statement. There was one mention of a lawyer. Most were expert advisors. Good common sense folks who have experience. Smart move. His former Secretary of State tried to advise him, his former Secretary of Defense tried that, his former Chief of Staff tried that, his former attorney general tried that, a lot of his advisors tried that, and his national security advisor tried that. He never listened to any of them, he doesn't listen to anyone, he just does Donald.

Do you hold hands with your paid companion?
spidermike007 replied to Celsius's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
It is a form of insanity, for a man 20-40 years older than the gal, to believe that money is not an integral component of whatever kind of relationship, or arrangement they have. That is true here, and it is 10x truer in the West. The big difference between here and there, is a guy with a reasonable pension can get a younger gal here, and back there to get a pretty, young gal, 30 years younger, you need to be worth $50,000,000 or more. In my opinion money (financial security) is part of the equation at least 80% of the time, anywhere you go. -
You missed the point. Again. Your defense of your guy has erased your objectivity. His NSA and his defense secretary were not lawyers. They were defense and national security experts. And he not only did not listen to them, he fired them because he did not like or want their advice. That makes him very, very dangerous.

Thaksin drops bombshell on fallout with Prawit
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
In 1999 you could buy a 25 foot wide, 5 story brownstone in a good area of NYC for under 1.5 million dollars. They are selling for nine million now. A 300 meter luxury penthouse in a AA condo tower in Bangkok was 10 million baht. Now? 50-90 million. So, using a standard of 100% for inflation makes no sense. Closer to $800 million today. If well invested. If people knew the real extent of the corruption here, on the part of the army, there would be an uprising. -
Thaksin drops bombshell on fallout with Prawit

I always found the watch thing amusing, if they had any interest and they bothered to do a deep dive into the assets, both domestic and overseas, it is likely they'd be well into the billions if not tens of billions for these top ranked generals. So these million baht watches were pocket change. Like the value of a sandwich, for one of us. -
There used to be little things that she did that I would occasionally find annoying. These days I'm very happy to report that very little that she does I find annoying. I think I probably just adapted and realized what a good, kind, loyal, and delightful soul she is, and I think I've decided to do embrace all of that wholeheartedly. The only thing I can find if I really wanted to nitpick, is when she goes out with her girlfriends occasionally they drink too much. But it's not all the time, she's not an alcoholic, she does drink alot less than many of her friends, and she's quite a big younger than me, so I think a little bit of understanding goes a long way here.

Kennedy gives Swing voters a clear choice, Trump
spidermike007 replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
He somehow managed to capture the conspiracy crowd that Trump wasn't able to attract. Also, he seems to appeal to the people who despise government. I fit into that camp. But, I found this particular Kennedy pretty wierd. And kind of extreme. Wi-Fi causes cancer and "leaky brain," Kennedy told podcaster Joe Rogan last month. Antidepressants are to blame for school shootings, he mused during an appearance with Twitter CEO Elon Musk. Chemicals in the water supply could turn children transgender, he told right-wing Canadian psychologist and podcaster Jordan Peterson, echoing a false assertion made by serial fabulist Alex Jones. AIDS may not be caused by HIV, he has suggested multiple times. Despite study after study finding no connection between vaccines and autism, Kennedy has only dug in deeper to his discredited beliefs. For years, they put him on the fringe of American public discourse — until COVID-19. https://www.npr.org/2023/07/13/1187272781/rfk-jr-kennedy-conspiracy-theories-social-media-presidential-campaign If Wi-Fi really did cause cancer we would all be dead by now. I don't trust the covid narrative and I never trusted it. I only got vaccines because I needed to travel, and I likely won't be getting them ever again. I don't trust the CDC, the FDA, The WHO, and a lot of other three letter government organizations. I think questioning the narratives can be a healthy thing. However I'm not quite as far out there on the fringes as he is. -
I've said this many times before, I feel that there are certain acts that we can commit in this world that are essentially a self-revocation of the right to consume oxygen. This act certainly qualifies, this man should be put down as quickly as possible. I would even advocate without a trial, l if there were a sufficient number of witnesses. I do believe marriage is a sacred bond, and I do believe that one of our duties and obligations as a spouse is to be there for this person, and protect the person that we've sworn our devotion to. And if we can't do that it's best to just admit we are inadequate for the task, get divorced and allow our partner to get on with their lives.

Bangkok Restaurant Owner Accused of Slapping Foreign Tourists

OK, I see that now. Rules and regulations. I sort of get that. But, it still seems like poor form on the part of the owner. An astonishing lack of grace? A huge sense of entitlement? -
Bangkok Restaurant Owner Accused of Slapping Foreign Tourists
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
1. I won't wait more than 10 minutes to get a table at a restaurant. I'm at a point in my life where I just don't have enough time left. Waiting over an hour to get a table to me is just out of the question. I don't care what restaurant it is, I don't care how good they're supposed to be. 2. This restaurant needs to be called out by name. I don't care how good it is, I don't care how great the owner thinks he is, slapping around customers is just beyond the pale. Call them out by name! Shame them humiliate them embarrass them, and do not be the slightest bit concerned with defamation, that's a law written by and for cowards. -

Danish Expat Risks Prison in Thailand Over Lost Car Incident
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I always say do everything possible to avoid having any contact with the police, nor asking them for assistance unless absolutely necessary. They are not here to serve, they are not here to protect, they are here to collect. I may sound like a contrarian but I also do everything possible to avoid insurance companies, yes I have insurance on my car, and yes I do carry accident insurance, but I refuse to carry health insurance. I self-insure, and I avoid insurance companies whenever possible, they are mafia organizations, much like the RTP. -
Kennedy gives Swing voters a clear choice, Trump
spidermike007 replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
I hate it, I really hate it. I was planning on running against Biden, and I had a really good game plan, and then he just went about out like an incredibly gracious man, and Harris really took up the baton and ran with it like nobody expected. It just doesn't seem right, it just doesn't seem fair. I'm trailing in nearly all the polls now, very few people seem to be listening to me anymore, I can't seem to attract a good crowd anymore, everybody's making fun of me, I picked a terrible VP choice, he is flailing too, and everything seems to be going wrong. It's just not fair, don't they know who I am? Don't they know how great I am? Don't they know that I am the most incredible human being on the planet? Don't they realize I'm the smartest guy in America? Don't they know how handsome I am? I'm am so confused, flustered, unhappy and bitter. His former Secretary of State tried that, his former Secretary of Defense tried that, his former Chief of Staff tried that, his former attorney general tried that, a lot of his advisors tried that, and his national security advisor tried that. He never listened to any of them, he doesn't listen to anyone, he just does Donald.- 303 replies

I am a Democrat but I'm not a Harris fan and I would prefer to see somebody else, however I would pick Miley Cyrus over Trump. I would pick Pauly Shore over Trump. I would pick Shia LaBeouf over Trump. Anyone but Trump. However his pic of JD Vance as VP was a wet dream for most Democrats, he's now running at a negative 6% in polling, and I think it's only going to get worse. The man is an empty suit, he has zero charisma, and very little to say. Picking him was a monumental mistake by Trump, and listening to anything that his offspring has to say is always going to backfire. They are all subpar intellects, just like he is.

No. Never. During covid I got pretty wound up for awhile. But, I worked through it. I never felt like I belonged in the US. And I do not feel the need to belong here. Don't need to be "one of them". I do not have a nanogram of tribalism, or nationalism in my body. I just live every day, enjoy each day here, am thankful for each day here, and squeeze each day for what it is worth. Which is alot. I think perspective is important. Traveling back to the US a few times a year allows alot of that. I could live there, if a sponsor offered me $3 million a year, and only for 3 years. Ha!

One of the reasons why Harris/Walz will win resounding is because they are doing a great job of representing our better angels and our higher selves. Trump on the other hand represents only our lower nature and our worst tendencies. Few want a man with such a profound lack of grace, dignity, intelligence, depth, compassion, regard, and elegance as a world leader or president of the US.

As I've said many times in the past I have major issues with Trump and Vance. I do not have issues with his supporters, I do not have issues with conservatives, I understand why they want to vote for him, I understand that many of the issues they have are different than mine. And that is totally valid. Some of my best friends and some very close family members are conservatives, we have dialogues, and when we discuss politics it is done with mutual affection and respect. When we start degenerating into a hateful mob, reduced to insults and memes, that's when we really have a problem. Insult the candidates, they deserve it, but not their supporters. How did you find those numbers? 30,000 Americans living here?

Tragedy in Bangkok: Woman Dies After Livestream Argument
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
All this controversy over ganga, yet alcohol continues to be the real problem, plaguing this society and many others. -
She was honest and told it like it is in her book. Very few world leaders liked or respected this goon. Of course he would refute that. He cares not one iota for truth and would not know reality if it but him on the ankles. He loves to be ugly, but he refuses to acknowledge that everything about himself is ugly. He is unappealing, and unattractive, and is idiotic, incompetent, hateful, hurtful, abrasive, rude, blowhard, liar, cheater, thief, infantile, failure, loser, fraud, sexual abuser, incestuous, tax cheat, insurrectionist, un-American, dictator-loving dictator wannabe, out of control, sociopathic, convicted felon, toxic narcissist & brutish A-hole. Everything about the con-man referred to as Trump is unlikeable. He's everything wrong with the human animal, all stuffed into one specimen.

What Happened to Inflation? Bidenomics
spidermike007 replied to Roo Island's topic in Political Soapbox
I believe Trump started this hyper inflationary cycle when he declared an insane trade war on China and Huawei, with hardly anything to back him up, other than hollow threats, and sanctions, which only hurt the US economy, and US consumers and businesses. The Chinese sensed sanctions coming and went out and cornered the world market on rare earth, chips, motherboards, circuit boards, and other materials. Companies started ramping down production due to Covid. When they started to order these elements and parts, none were to be found or the price had skyrocketed. It started a massive supply chain issue with cell phone, computer and automotive components. Then the shipping issues came later. Then came corporations engaging in historic price gouging. Few want to look back at where this started. Easier to just make it a talking point, and blame Biden. At the time I said it was the single dumbest thing a politician had done since Chamberlain denied the bad intentions of the Nazis. Trump created hyper inflation, singlehandedly. Thanks, Don. -
French Man Robbed by Transgender Thief in Pattaya
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
So, I guess ladyboys are now referred to as trans on this forum? A bit of the PC sneaking it's way in? Why is it that there seems to be so much trouble with ladyboys in Pattaya? Here is the medical/PC definition: Transgender or trans Both an umbrella term including many gender identities and a specific gender identity that describes those with a gender identity that’s different from the gender or sex assigned at birth. Transitioning The act of making physical, social, medical, surgical, interpersonal, or personal changes that help to affirm gender or address gender dysphoria. Transsexual Falling under the transgender umbrella, transsexual is a word that was medically and historically used to indicate a difference between one’s gender identity (i.e., the internal experience of gender) and sex assigned at birth (as male, female, or intersex). Transsexual is often (though not always) used to communicate that one’s experience of gender involves a medical diagnosis or medical changes — such as hormones or surgery — that help alter anatomy and appearance to feel more congruent with gender identity. Due to a fraught history, the word transsexual can be contentious and shouldn’t be used unless someone specifically asks to be referred to this way. -
Suvarnabhumi Airport gears up for third runway trials
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Of all the airports I fly in and out of, this one seems to rival LAX for the most frequent late departures. Often, we sit in the plane at least 30-45 minutes past the time we are supposed to take off. So, if this 3rd runway helps with the obvious congestion and air traffic control issues, it seems like a good thing. -
Thaksin's advisor Phumtham tipped to be named defence minister
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Phumtham was a member of the Communist Party of Thailand from 1977 to 1978. He was later a member of the Democrat Party from 1978 until 1997, joining Thai Rak Thai. Phumtham worked as an advisor to the Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra before being appointed Deputy Minister of Transport in the Thaksin II cabinet. Following the 2006 coup d'état, Phumtham was banned from political office for five years. Returning to politics, Phumtham served as Secretary-General and Deputy Leader of Pheu Thai Party from 2012 to 2023. Following the 2023 Thai general election, Phumtham was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce in the Srettha cabinet. So, what does this guy know about the military and defending his nation? Nothing. Zero. Nunca. Nana. And in Thailand that seems to be the perfect resume for the job.
