  1. Using the National Guard to control looting at CVS would be a very bizarre and extreme act. I was in a CVS a couple of weeks ago buying laundry detergent and they have the big bottles of Tide locked up with a chain and lock. I think the security guards should be allowed to take whatever action they see fit.
  2. I think there's a lot of truth to what you're saying about the uniform. I don't know if I would call Thailand a primitive society, but it is certainly not an advanced society, and it is certainly not a society that is comprised of predominantly emotionally mature people. Also many people have a lot of respect for tradition, but I think tradition holds people back and I think the convention that goes along with tradition is very detrimental to society. Thailand is an extremely conventional place and the vast majority of people live in tiny little boxes of convention and conservatism.
  3. Take your time, you have no idea who she is, what she's made of, and where she comes from. You've heard a story which may or may not be true, and it takes time to know whether or not the person has real integrity, and the kind of qualities that make her worthy of your devotion. So take your time, and never, ever allow her to push the time table.
  4. I think politics in America have degenerated to the point where a decent person, a person with some integrity, would simply not be attracted to the office. The race is too grueling and the presidency itself is a horrific job, so only a very power hungry, megalomaniac type would even want the job. I think Biden's doing it out of a sense of obligation, but the days of high quality people running for that office are in the rear view. We will only see very low quality candidates in the future.
  5. It is absolutely brilliant living here, I love every minute of it. If I wanted normal and predictable, if I wanted a life full of common sense and reason, I would have stayed in America. Nah, the craziness, and the distant planet aspect of the place, it all works for me. Every day is a good day here.
  6. Trump would have absolutely no control over crime and homelessness in the major metropolitan areas, as those are city and state issues, not federal issues. The major crimes in democratically controlled cities and states started under Trump's watch, if you care to recall. And I guess that 7 million vote margin doesn't mean very much to you does it? Stop the obfuscation and lies, it's a very unattractive quality that many of his supporters have.
  7. I think instead of the current name that they have, the proper name should be STP (Soiled Thai Police. Seems like both the army and the police have an exceptionally high number of men who misbehave, and are major social misfits and delinquents.
  8. Police Senior Sergeant Major Somsong Sriardree-aram. Somsong was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol level of 321 milligrammes percent, far above the legal limit of 50 milligrams per cent. Glad they called him out by name. He should be shamed to no end, his reputation should be completely soiled, and he should be locked up for a significant period of time. If the police cannot be held to a higher standard what does this say about a society? It's a very sorry statement and an act perpetrated by an extremely heinous, ridiculous, pathetic, unmanly person who does not even measure up to the standard of a real man. I wouldn't be surprised if Big Joke gets the cretin off the hook, they sure don't like prosecuting their own.
  9. Exactly, anything you can do to keep the sun off the walls and windows is going to have a dramatic effect on how cool the room is. Also you made no mention of whether or not you've insulated the attic, that's a huge factor and makes an enormous difference. In addition to that exhaust fans in the attic will cool down your attic temperature dramatically, at minimal annual cost.
  10. Exactly Biden is the epitome of elegance, grace, dignity, kindness and nobility compared to that other very strange, hostile, angry, bitter, hugely dishonest hustler of a man.
  11. Good on her, let's hope that she spends the money wisely, and let's hope that she does not give in to pleas from many friends and relatives who are no doubt going to approach her, now that this has gone public. Imagine how amazing it would be if you could win a major lottery prize, without anyone knowing? You could then be as generous as you pleased, for all the right reasons.
  12. One has to pay special attention to images of macabre significance. They are so very meaningful.
  13. Maybe there is a God after all. Though I don't like the fact that Biden is in his early 80s, I would take Britney Spears or Justin Bieber over Trump. Anybody but Trump. I think he's a very dangerous man and I think a second term would empower him to no end, into becoming a near dictator. Go Joe go.
  14. Any company that operates in the public realm such as an airline is subject to criticism whether or not that criticism is valid. It's up to the public to decide. For an airline to take legal action against one of its passengers who may or may not be a long-term customer is abhorrent, and the sign of a very cowardly company without any sense of confidence in their operations. This is only going to come back as egg on their face. It's a very ugly and distasteful act, whether or not the complaint was justified. Any consumer should have the right to complain about any company, without fear of getting sued.
  15. A very accurate analysis, and this is what tends to happen when you appoint ministers that are the absolute bottom of the barrel in terms of experience, competence, intelligence, and vision. And that defines Thai politics for the past decade.
  16. Is it safe to say, judging by your answer that you've never met? That this is strictly an online relationship? One must take into account the chemistry angle, I wouldn't invest too much time or effort, and I certainly would not invest any money prior to actually having meeting her, and spending a significant amount of time with her.
  17. You are likely right, and it is very possible that the Thai Highway Patrol are the most slothful and lazy organization in the entire nation. They utterly refuse to do their work by patrolling the highway, they're only found after an accident takes place. Truly an obnoxious group of lowlifes.
  18. I have you beaten in the age column, fortunately I'm in a good relationship but when it comes to women, better to take your time then end up facing disaster, or a really bad match. If it's good it's only going to get better, if there are problems they're going to manifest themselves over time. Time is your ally, not hers.
  19. Pheu Thai’s bill, meanwhile, focuses on developing a digital map of air-pollution sources for efficient monitoring and control. It also prescribes the establishment of several committees, including at the provincial level, to drive clean-air causes. Well looks like the ruling party does not have a clue digital maps of air pollution are not going to solve the problem. It is just more dullard's creating dull proposals. Strong action is required, the burning taking place on the farms is a huge culprit, and it has to stop.
  20. This is a continuation of the effects of the "Prayuth Decimation". 9 years of sorry army leadership combined with draconian, highly selective restrictions due to covid, led to extreme economic devastation for millions of people, and perhaps hundreds of thousands of businesses lost. I said it at the time and I'll say it again now, it's going to take years to recover from that sabotage.
  21. I have an unusual suggestion, how about getting the highway patrol to actually patrol the highway? Then when people are swerving and behaving in an erratic manner they can be pulled over and tested for alcohol. Right now it seems like they're limited to these ridiculous roadblocks. And while they're at it the lazy highway patrol could pull over people for reckless driving, what a concept.
  22. There are some pretty harsh people on this forum, it seems like when someone falls on hard times most jump on the bandwagon of harsh criticism and accusations of poor planning and things like that. The reality is that people do fall on hard times, there's a dozen different reasons why somebody could run out of money, and it sucks. So perhaps a little bit of sympathy is appropriate? The other comical aspect of this post is the name of the organization that investigated. The Rapid Response Centre for Accelerating Public Welfare Management of SDHS. Quite a fancy name for an organization that likely does very little to help the people.
  23. So why has every other government in the world been reformed, and Thailand's has been left in the dust?
  24. And there arises the grand old question, is it better to be with somebody who is terrible, or you don't get along with, and you don't enjoy being with, or is it better to be alone seeking out somebody who is worthy?
  25. Typically countries are invaded for their resources, are you suggesting that some neighbor might invade Thailand for its rice and shrimp? Glad that they do produce some natural gas but is it enough to prompt an invasion by other than a desperado like China? If China invades all bets are off, a few jets are not going to help. Who else is the threat in this region, come on please give us your dissertation.
