  1. The most shocking aspect of something like this is the realization that people allow themselves to stay in unsuccessful, toxic and co-dependent relationships like this one. Why not just admit that things have failed? Why not admit that you guys just don't belong together? Why not admit that it's just time to move on, and man up and do the right thing? Get out of that house and away from that witch, ASAP.
  2. Though it does threaten tourism, it threatens a lot more than just tourism. It threatens the health and well-being of the nation, it threatens the potential economic growth of the nation, it threatens the future of the nation. The sloth that is being exhibited by this administration is just simply a repeat of the sloth that was exhibited by the last administration. What do they both have in common? The spectacularly toxic and utterly useless Thai Army.
  3. These imbeciles driving those motorbikes might not have even known where they were going, but they sure knew that they had to get there fast. That was a pretty stupid move and they could have paid a very high price for it. There is a very good chance they are not long for this world.
  4. It sure doesn't take much to spark a debate these days, it seems many have too much time on their hands and just enjoy bickering about something.
  5. Ratings for AQI were well over 150 today in many parts of Bangkok. The slothful administration is doing next to nothing to address this problem, Sretta keeps on yacking non-stop and doing nothing, which seems to be his M.O. Talk but don't act. All they have to do is crack down on the farmers that are burning the sugar, and the refiners that are processing the sugar from fames that burn. And diesel vehicles that haven't changed their oil in 3 years, which are belching out these huge columns of smoke. Yet nobody does anything. Are there any adults in this administration? My guess is that tourism will suffer, who wants to come visit a country where the air quality is out of control if Beijing could improve their air why can't Bangkok? Woe are the Thai people and those that have to live in areas with horrific air.
  6. A new one cost between 100 and 300 baht and it takes 5 minutes to install, so in all seriousness why is this a topic? Why would you even want to bother your landlord over a $5 repair? There should be some sort of rule of thumb for importance versus pettiness of a topic, this one takes the annual prize for pettiness.
  7. This is vitally important, it is a near emergency situation with Thailand surrounded by threats. Malaysia, Cambodia, and Burma are such threats. Thailand must stay protected at all costs even if it bankrupts the nation, it's worth it. This is vitally important to the national security of the nation. Always trust the Thai Armed Forces, they are nothing but nobility, and have such good intentions.
  8. While that is true nothing more could be expected from a morally bankrupt army, which is motivated only by money and power.
  9. That urging won't mean anything to this administration, any government with the army connected to it here, is completely immoral, ethically bankrupt, and possesses nothing in the way of a moral compass.
  10. If it were me I would install the screen door out of my own pocket, it's not that expensive and it's really worth it. In terms of natural repellent I mix my own with a blend of 50% eucalyptus oil, 25% citronella, and 25% lemongrass. It works like a charm but the smell is strong, so it does put some people off, as it does the mosquitoes, flies and any flying insect.
  11. They seem to be completely tone deaf when it comes to the antics and ridiculous posturing of administration, compared to their extreme desire for tourism dollars. They seem to work completely independently and it appears that the immigration police and the RTP have no concern whatsoever about Thailand's reputation overseas. And never let it be forgotten that we're looking at 10 years of army participation or domination of the political scene. You can always count on the army to side with a despot regime rather than take the side of democracy. The Thai army is totally anti-democratic.
  12. You are likely spot on and I wouldn't be surprised if big joke was part of the deal. Never forget he was deputy police chief for a while and the RTP is a pyramid scheme, so anybody who thinks this guy is clean is naive at best. He likely has a fortune parked overseas.
  13. My guess is that this is incredibly common among mayors, headmen, governors, and so many government officials and likely most of the officials in the super corrupt army. So it makes you wonder why aren't more of them arrested, and why was this guy singled out?
  14. Always call them out by name. Shame them into submission. And anytime they don't put the bill on the table right in front of you that's cause for suspicion. Immediately ask for the bill to be put on your table, and anytime you order a drink and they bring more than one drink, turn it down and say you know that's not what I ordered. Also many Go-Go bars on the second drink, the lady asks you if you can buy her two drinks. I usually say no you want one more drink that's fine, if not why don't you wander around?
  15. Any prison search anywhere in the world that is done with earnestness and skill is going to find contraband. So if they didn't find any it's because they did not want to. More likely they found plenty of it but they're reporting that they found none. As you get older and wiser I think that your BS meter improves, and you're able to determine nonsense when you hear it.
  16. There is a lot of truth to that, if you find an area that you really love, the quiet of the area can be incredibly charming and appealing and you can travel to find the action when you feel like you need it. I know I for one am at the stage in my life where I just don't like the noise, the crowds, the traffic and the congestion, the pollution, the expense, and all the nonsense that goes along with being in a big city anymore. I spent a lot of time in big cities when I was much younger, and I just don't need it now.
  17. But neither does big joke, he's incapable of learning that was we are not willing to swallow the BS. My guess is that less than 1% of the population thinks this guy is straight, and thinks what he's saying is true. But then again that's his job, his job is to deflect, obscure the truth, and make it appear as if there's real crime fighting going on.
  18. Well if the teachers and students are of legal age and it's consensual, I think that's a whole different story. It may not be socially permissible but it is certainly legal and it's not predatory. When you're talking about a man abusing his daughter or a relative that's a whole different story, and that's a whole different level of abuse and social deviance. We are talking about apples and oranges here.
  19. This goon will say anything to try to fool the masses into believing and untruth. It is a very well-known reality here that you can buy your way out of most crimes, including underage sex crimes, for the right amount of money. So no matter what he says, most of us will continue believing that, and will ignore his foolishness, his arrogance and his utter silliness. 1 million baht sounds about right, it's the number that I've heard on previous occasions, with regard to this crime. When I was living on Samui many years ago I knew a guy who was arrested for possession of one kilo of ganja, and the police gave him a choice to come up with 1 million Baht within 48 hours or face arrest and jail. He could not come up with the money, and he went to Samui prison for 17 months, until his sentence was finally pardoned. I know this for a fact as I visited him at the jail several times.
  20. The big joke sure likes to declare war on petty criminals, but when it comes to his own he's right there to protect them. We all know how corrupt they are, and most of us know how corrupt he is. He is simply a very good actor, who is the deflector in chief.
  21. Anyone who damages priceless art should be locked up, or as an alternative they could be forced to do 2 years of very horrible work, to somehow pay back society. These are absolutely dregs who consider themselves overly important, and are overly self entitled. Lock them up. I'm sure their fellow inmates would get a real kick out of their protests!
  22. The mother is nearly as morally bankrupt and horrific as her husband, she should be sharpening her kitchen knives and using them to put a stop to this. What a pathetic couple. Lock them both up.
  23. I have flown Thai only a few times over the years and I always found the service to be poor, the baggage handling to be slow, and overall disappointing. EVA puts them to shame.
  24. For minor crimes like theft no, but for major crimes like armed robbery, assault with deadly intent, rape and murder absolutely. To the fullest extent of the law as it applies to adults. Without a deterrent society simply crumbles. Kids are not that special, and they don't need to be coddled incessantly and protected. It is far more important to protect their victims.
  25. Darwin was right. The theory of natural selection, means we all have to exhibit certain survival skills, to thrive in this world. Self protection is just one of those skills. Some have it, some do not. I kind of understand thrill seekers and their mentality, but some ideas are risky and then some ideas are just absolutely dumb to an astonishing extent. Base jumping like this is crazy dangerous, I don't think a quick cheap thrill is worth sacrificing your life for.
