American woman sexually assaulted in Bangkok
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
In no way at all am I making any excuses for sexual assault, it is never appropriate under any circumstances. But why on Earth would the woman invite a complete stranger to stay over her house? This makes no sense. Sleep is probably the time in our lives where we are the most vulnerable, all bets are off, anything could happen. One has to think in terms of survival and one has to engage in self protection at all times. She did not. -
Very sorry to hear about all of your self imposed issues.

Sometimes in life there's a real beauty to just accepting who you are, and where you're at. And if it's the "in thing" these days, I tend to run for the hills. I don't want to have anything to do with anything that's super popular, being promoted on social media, in super high demand, or all the rage.

Surer words have never been said, and this especially relates to the transgender community and the 50 other designations that have been legally accepted by politically weak areas like California. You are pansexual? Do your thing, we just don't care!

Absolutely, he would be welcome. I for one absolutely love a lot of gay men that I known, I've always had a lot of gay friends, lesbians too. Many of them are really delightful people, so that's not going to be an issue at all, and the people who do not want to be friends with him are really people he wouldn't want to be friends with anyway, because he's probably looking for open-minded people, who are not bogged down with insecurities and prejudice.

Yeah the obsession with plastic surgery these days is a bit much. I kind of understand it if a Thai person is born with a really, really broad nose, which is short. But I see a lot of really beautiful Thai women that want to have their faces altered and I just don't get it. The one on the right looks scary.

While I do agree that waiting is a good thing, two, three years minimum to really get to know a gal, to say 99% are bad, wow that's quite an indictment of her own people. Either that or she just has an incredibly inflated sense of self.

Airbus Targets 20% Growth in Thai Helicopter Market
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Okay top government officials, the army, the Air Force and a few helicopters used by private industry. My point was that there's not really a civilian industry for helicopters and private planes, to move around wealthy people from point A to point B. -
Chinese tourists are returning - but not to Thailand
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well I'm sure tourism dollars are down, but it is likely many are enjoying the lack of Chinese crowds. It did get to be a bit much there for a while. Although having said that, I much prefer the Chinese tourists to the Russian tourists. The Chinese are sort of fun-loving, the Russians are just dour and very, very hard to be around. -
Anutin Spearheads National Anti-Mafia Crackdown
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
My guess is that the current government has absolutely no clue as to how this man is perceived, and lacks credibility on any level. He was a complete failure as health minister during covid, and his constant ranting and raving and ridiculous comments traveled around the world. He was and is considered a circus clown, and for them to appoint him as Deputy PM, it feels as if Thailand wants to be the butt of a joke. When they make these selections it is such a shame for the people. My heart truly goes out to them, with such poor leadership. -
Inflation rate in Thailand dips for first time in over two years
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
These official statistics do not really mean much to the average person, what we're concerned about is are the products and services that we are regularly buying and paying for leveling off in price? Or are they continuing to rise? So far I am seeing the latter, I will believe the report when prices level off or start dropping. -
Thai HIV patient admits having one-night stands with many men
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I've been told by a virologist that even if her HIV load was very heavy and you used no protection, as long as you did not engage in anal sex there's a very, very low possibility of transmitting this disease through vaginal or oral sex. -
True. Same applies to rice bran oil. Very pleasant taste too. Thailand is one of the few countries in the world where rice bran oil is available inexpensively.

Airbus Targets 20% Growth in Thai Helicopter Market
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Please inform us. I have had wealthy friends visit from various nations who were searching out private jets and helicopter travel to avoid the massive congestion on the highways, and they came to a dead end. The last thing they said to me is we really liked it here but we'll never come back. Too many unresolved issues. -
If they had picked Lisa from Blackpink she would have been better equipped to tackle the pollution and horrendous air quality issues that Thailand is now facing. They just can't help themselves, they always reach from the very bottom of the barrel, and select the person with the least amount of talent and vision.

Are you informing us that Thai Airways now offers a private helicopter service? That would be great news to a lot of us, and would encourage wealthy tourists to visit. Please give us the contact information we need it desperately. -
Jealous Husband Attacks Wife and Fatally Stabs Himself
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
How on earth does one stab themself in the chest, and if this story is correct, and if it is accurate, and if it is true, what kind of level of desperation is required to stab yourself in your own chest? What kind of a man loses his mind over jealousy and the thought that his wife might be flirting with somebody? Who are these people, and why is their self esteem so absent? -
Police General Phatcharavat Wongsuwan, the Environment Minister. This says all we need to know. They just continue appointing ministers from the utmost bottom of the barrel, with no experience in their respective fields, people who lives are so full of corrosion and moral ambiguity that even if they wanted to, they would be utterly incapable of accomplishing something like this. Instead, The government should offer incentives, for the farmers to switch crops. This is 2023. Rice and sugar worked in previous centuries. Now, they do not make any sense. Too labor intensive, too much degradation of the land, water, air, and resources. Let's get with the times. Let us move forward. When the crop burning starts to kill the population, and lowers the quality of life for those of us who don't die, isn't it time to take action? We just don't need the sugar. Shut down this toxic, heinous industry. Lock up the sugar barons. Do whatever it takes. A while back they had campaign where they had posters with phone numbers that you could call to report vehicles that were polluting. We were driving and we saw this truck that was pumping out huge black clouds of smoke and I copied down their license plate and I dialed the number, and handed my phone to my Thai wife and ask her speak to the department. She asked the person who answered the phone what can they do? He ask my wife why are you calling us and she said, well you have phone numbers posted to report polluting vehicles? The guy said well I don't know who I would report it to, and she said well that's not really our issue is it? You're supposed to be monitoring polluting vehicles. He said OK, I'll give me the license plate number and I'll see what I can do. My wife said are you going to do anything? He said, I don't know I need to look at the regulations first and see who I'm supposed to report it to, and then maybe somebody will do something.

Yes, absolutely! The art of parenting is a lost art, so if you're expecting parents to set limits for their children or ask their children to listen to their device at a reasonable and polite level, that is just not going to happen, at least not here. Most kids are the parents these days, and run the house. Most parents are absolutely out to lunch. The other aspect of this, these days, is the need to walk into a place and scout it out first, before I even commit to a meal or a cup of coffee. If there are obnoxious people talking loudly on their phones, or listening to their devices without a headset, or even having a very, very loud conversations, I just turn around and walk out. So it's up to us to kind of set our priorities, as this is a spectacularly inconsiderate world that we're living in these days. And most people are oblivious to the noise they are generating with their devices. Most cannot even sit down for a few minutes without the device addiction manifesting itself. And how about those blaringly loud notification sounds? We live in a bizarre world.

Airbus Targets 20% Growth in Thai Helicopter Market
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The only helicopter market in Thailand is top government officials, and the army, that is it. There is no private transport industry in Thailand as it relates to helicopters and small private planes. The army, and the Air Force control the skies entirely. It is a very sad truth and holds the nation back.
