  1. They will have a good laugh, they will joke about the highly insecure men and women, who have no self esteem, no ability to absorb the tiniest of slights, and the thinnest skin imaginable. They will wonder what Thailand would do if faced with real issues and problems. And they will joke about the misunderstanding of diplomacy, and the bottom of the barrel ministers in Thailand. A good laugh all around. And they will likely call the restaurant owner, and thank him for the good publicity and his courage.
  2. The Chinese people seem to be easily scared. This will not help Thailand to attract the much coveted tourism market. This will be all over their news. Serial killing CCP, no problem. But, a killing in Thailand? Combined with the recent movie about the kidnappings, consider the Chinese market stagnant for awhile.
  3. You can't have it both ways. You don't deserve any respect when you betray your people. All of the army appointed senators deserve far more of this scorn, humiliation, disgrace and they should be shown the door at every opportunity. Make their lives so uncomfortable they quit a year early. It just might work. Weak, pathetic, cowardly, self entitled hooligans, who are accustomed to a perch atop the ivory tower, scared to death of being taken down a notch, and being asked to be accountable for their heinous and unforgivable actions. Of course they will resort to whatever dirty tactics they can. That is who and what they are. Filth. They are the deplorables.
  4. Sure there is. Alot of difference. What he meant is that both can be absolute idiots, if they are listening to the wrong voice or the small head too much.
  5. Very tragic. Thankfully not commonplace here, like in loony tunes America, where they seem to adore violence. Yes, I am American. I can admit to a nation in severe decline. Let us hope Thais have more decency that this. So far so good. Lock this cretin up with adults and let him learn the hard way.
  6. A relatively high IQ can be an advantage. A very high IQ usually is not. Especially if the person had a bad childhood, carries alot of baggage, or is neurotic. I have known many highly intelligent people who are very skilled at making themselves miserable. In my opinion an IQ between 90 and 135 is ideal. Anything over that can be problematic.
  7. Many Thai women have become obsessed with cosmetic surgery, and laser treatments. Some of them are gorgeous, but they do not know it. And they want a bigger nose, and this and that. Best to ask a women how she feels about this kind of thing on a 1st or 2nd date here!
  8. Thankfully this is a rare occurance here. Where I come from in the US, mass shootings happen nearly every day.
  9. I have friends who know younger Russians. And they say they are kind, friendly and progressive. I have no idea what percentage of the population these younger people represent, nor how representative they are of the Russian population. Personally, I have met very few friendly Russians. Anywhere in the world. The vast majority of Russians I have met, seem to have very, very few redeeming qualities. It is no wonder. I can only speak from my experience. Have run into alot of Russians both in the US, and on Phuket and Samui, 98% of them seem to be grumpy, unfriendly and gruff. Some of them are downright hostile. Likely a reflection of a very, very rough culture and environment. So, perhaps it is not a coincidence that the world is not standing up to support them and show them kindness? Just an observation. I do not think it is a sense of entitlement. I think it is a reflection of the current culture. It was destroyed over a century of callous and murderous leadership. Stalin, Lenin, Khruschev, now Putin. They have become somewhat savage and crude. No grace, no finesse, no courtesy. Rather uncivilized. My family was from Russia a few generations back. I used to ask my great-grandmother when she was still around, why they didn't teach us anything about the old country. She would give me this look, and tell me "the reason we never teach you about the place we came from, is because the place we came from was the most horrific country on earth, it was the most destitute, horrible, oppressive place and we were thrilled to finally get out of there and leave it behind. That's why we don't teach you about the old country, the old country doesn't exist for us. Some observations on why Russians seem to be so grumpy, annoying and unhappy: In one series of studies with Helena Slobodskaya, a psychologist at Novosibirsk State University Research Institute of Physiology and Basic Medicine, we found that mothers in Russia, compared to American caregivers, reported that their infants and toddlers were more likely to demonstrate negative emotions, such as anger or frustration. The Russian mothers also reported that their young children exhibited lower levels of positive emotional expression, including smiling and laughter. https://theconversation.com/why-are-russians-so-stingy-with-their-smiles-98799 According to the most optimistic reports, the average salary in Russian cities (apart from Moscow and Saint Petersburg) is 20,000–40,000 rubles a month. That is $330–660, less than $8000 a year. Sometimes more, if you served in the military and were engaged in local conflicts, or were employed by a wealthy oil company. But most of the time, much less. This all-embracing Russian poverty is everywhere: in people’s houses, clothes, the cars they drive, the food they eat, and the entertainment they have. https://medium.com/@meohoh/twelve-reasons-why-russia-sucks-9ceb0feddcd6 To test this theory, Krys had thousands of people in 44 different countries judge a series of eight smiling and non-smiling faces on a scale of honesty and intelligence. He compared their answers to the country’s rankings of uncertainty avoidance from a 2004 study of 62 societies and ratings of corruption. He found that in countries like Germany, Switzerland, China, and Malaysia, smiling faces were rated as significantly more intelligent than non-smiling people. But in Japan, India, Iran, South Korea, and—you guessed it—Russia, the smiling faces were considered significantly less intelligent. Even after controlling for other factors, like the economy, there was a strong correlation between how unpredictable a society was and the likelihood they would consider smiling unintelligent. https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2016/05/culture-and-smiling/483827/
  10. Good one. Thanks for all that info. I have never been, but have been to many other spots in Latin America, and spent alot of time in Mexico, which is extraordinary on so many levels. Good to hear that security is not an issue, in some spots. That is one of my favorite aspects of living in Thailand. It is just not something I have to consider often, even in Bangkok. The natural beauty here is limited. There is some. But, the lack of respect for the air (horrific for 4-6 months of the year these days), the land and the sea is visible, and a blight on the culture. Also, the level of pervasive corruption is another blight. Was just speaking with my woman, and she was telling me our sister in law was offered a low level governemnt job. Easy work, not long hours, near home, and at least 30 years of job security. But, the HR guy wants 35,000 baht, and she is hired. That does get old. The retirement visa is still quite easy, convenient and manageable here, thankfully. Hopefully they will not muck things up with the changes in the tax laws, etc. Most of the government ministries here only know one direction. Backwards.
  11. Quite a simple minded thing to say. Perhaps he is less intelligent than one would presume. It is going to take a lot more than wishful thinking to elevate Thailand to upper income status. Outstanding, effective, intelligent policy, great planning, lowering luxury taxes, lowering import taxes overall, making Thailand the dynamic nation that it once was. After the Prayuth decimation all bets are off.
  12. That is a good story. It leaves some hope that they are doing something productive. Who would have thought?
  13. This is one airline, and we don't even know if they are being honest about this. Tourism and Chinese arrivals are way down. They need some good PR. Say anything. Don't admit the truth.
  14. But from September 25 Thailand has introduced a visa-waiver for Chinese (and Kazakh) visitors so a quick recovery of Chinese visitors is expected. Wow. A visa waiver will solve every problem the nation faces, with regard to tourism. Do not fix anything. Do not address any of the multitude of issues Thailand was facing long before covid. Do not take into account the economic woes in China, nor around the world, the taxi mafia issues, the road hazards, the corrupt cops, the government instability, nor the rising airfares. After all, Thailand is the COTU (center to the known universe), so how can they resist us?
  15. She is attractive, but there are so many natural stunners here, that she cannot compare to. Such as these natural beauties!
  16. Well, this is coming from a man who is perhaps America's greatest expert on theft, and grifting. But, I do think he has a point. The shoplifting situation in California is out of control. Due to the relaxation of the laws, releasing alot of non violent offenders from prison, the police are hesitant to arrest anyone stealing under $1,000 in merchandise. So, it has become a free for all. I think the security guards should be allowed to use tasers, pepper spray, or batons, to subdue a shoplifter. Seems only fair. California is completely out of control, and it perhaps leads the nation in deterioration of quality of life, and mindless cultural decline. Homelessness and crime are rising daily, so are prices and inflation. Many are leaving the state. Most people I know who lived there, have left already. Why is shoplifting so rampant? Because state law holds that stealing merchandise worth $950 or less is just a misdemeanor, which means that law enforcement probably won’t bother to investigate, and if they do, prosecutors will let it go. Why won’t store employees do anything about this theft? Because they don’t want to take the risk. Moreover, a confrontation within the store risks harming not only store staff but also customers, so employees are almost certainly instructed by their managers to do nothing. Because of this law, California is extending an open invitation to anyone to walk in and take. Just like that—since they know that police or prosecutors won’t bother with a misdemeanor complaint and that store personnel won’t stop them. California will allow 63,000 prisoners, out of a population of 115,000, the possibility of early release. Sadly, this is Gavin Newsom. Creating a political moment to sign an almost meaningless shoplifting crime bill that rarely will be enforced. Defensively reacting to criticism and doing whatever it takes to deflect that criticism. Failing to lead. A governor of a state of nearly forty million, without a realistic vision to grow a better future. The first image is in Novato, in Marin County. The second is downtown Los Angeles. https://www.hoover.org/research/why-shoplifting-now-de-facto-legal-california
  17. Either this man is an optimist, which is a good thing, or he is naive (what has the army done for the people lately?), or he is a master of PR, similar to the biggest joke. I would not expect anything to come of this, as the army is perhaps the most toxic institution in Thailand, and also perhaps the worst investment for the money, in the history of the nation.
  18. I have bought many bikes here. Never paid more than a 1,000 baht deposit. Not once. There was an ADV shortage, as Honda does not know how to plan inventory for new models. But they are readily available now. If you don't like the attitude of the sales person, ask for the manager. It usually works.
  19. Total nonsense, meant only for the most naive. There is nothing resembling a meritocracy here. Quite the opposite. Never has been. Hopefully, once the toxic, greedy, abusive dinosaurs are ousted, they can establish one.
  20. People with low self esteem, and self loathing usually have very thin skin.
  21. 1. Keep it legal. The war on drugs has failed miserably. Do not give that franchise back to the RTP. 2. If you are going to control it, then control alcohol too. Pot makes people lazy and less ambitious. Alcohol kills millions annually.
  22. I truly believe that is God we're to speak to mankind he would say: "Whatever you do, don't multiply. Don't have any more kids. Give the planet a break. Things are not working out and you have really, really mucked things up. I made a huge mistake by granting you guys free will. I expected better".
  23. Thais are very mixed. Some of the women have the most exotic looks. Few know of their family roots, besides the Chinese Thais. The fascinating thing about Thais, is that they are all of mixed ethnicity. Few know it, and few will admit it. But it is nearly 100%. Going back to the days of ancient Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, Thailand was a major trading nation. And people from all over the region came to trade, many of whom stayed. Producing the most astonishing women as a result. Indians, Sumatrans, Burmese, Cambodians, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Turks, Persians, and more, resulting in some great looks on some of them today.
  24. She is an army appointed proxy senator. Do we need to know more?
  25. The army is not known for their integrity, and their thirst for power knows no bounds. Being an army appointed proxy senator no doubt has significant financial benefits. Will we ever know the full extent of it?
