  1. I did too. Some of us are fortunate to be living with someone we actually trust. In my case she proved her worthiness of that trust a long time ago. It should not be freely given. Trust, like respect, has to be earned.
  2. Get out. Get out now. If you have to move, try to sell the house. If not, just move on. How can you stay in the village after kicking her out of the house? Life is too short. Hopefully, you have some good, remaining years. But, not enough time to spend another week with this horrific imitation of a woman. She sounds dreadful. I would end it tomorrow. Whatever it takes. Start by kicking her out of the house.
  3. Yes. You give an inbecile like these two guns, and they show their lack of judgment, maturity and humanity. Same applies to an old idiot like Andrew Lester, who seems to have shot Ralph Yarl, without asking any questions. This kid was not threatening. The old man was a sick racist pig.
  4. Stay away from cinder blocks and Thai brick, if at all possible. Zero benefit. Qcon has multiple benefits. Easier to build with, great insulation, lightweight, easy to hang shelves, artwork, etc. It is 2023. Cinder and Thai brick are yesteryear.
  5. Top 10 Countries with the Highest Fertility Rates (by births per woman) - World Bank 2021 (2019 data) Niger - 6.8 Somalia - 6.0 Congo (Dem. Rep.) - 5.8 (tie) Mali - 5.8 (tie) Chad - 5.6 Angola - 5.4 Burundi - 5.3 (tie) Nigeria - 5.3 (tie) Gambia - 5.2 Burkina Faso - 5.1 Many people are gaining common sense, looking at the world around them, pulling their heads out of the sand and having fewer babies, which the world does not need. Africa continues to be the real problem. https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/total-fertility-rate
  6. Where common sense and reasoning prevail. Thailand too. The birth rate has fallen dramatically. Just two generations ago, having 5 to 10 kids was not uncommon. Now one or two is common. Hooray. The planet celebrates.
  7. Well, most good people with good intentions, anyway. Which is the vast majority of the population here. I lived in Surat province for nearly a decade. The locals are known to be hot headed.
  8. There is a fundamental aspect that you are missing here. Guns are banned here. Getting a license for one is difficult. Not like the insane free for all, in the US, where highs school kids can easily find them. Any anyone want to guess what percentage of firearms used in crimes here come from the toxic military? So, it becomes an issue of law enforcement, which is not Thailand's strong suit.
  9. The world's leader in morality and purity. A belief system put into action on a daily basis.
  10. Most real men have enough self esteem, which allows us to have thick skin. And self awareness too, which often takes some introspection and inner work, which is extremely rare here. I can handle an insult or a perceived lack of respect. I know who I am. Many can't. Many just lose it. Real men don't cause harm to others, due to an insult. Half men, cowards, punks, thugs, men who look like men but have the emotional development of a 13 year old often will overreact. Hence, these two dead fools. Few tears will be shed.
  11. It will never happen. The commission is a crony agency, set up by the army, to confirm a total lack of corruption within it's ranks. They will never go after any current ranking members. They barely go after anyone. The Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACT) is one of the most feeble and ineffective of all the tools Prayuth has used to deceive the people into believing that he is fighting corruption. Who was the last high level authority, in the police, immigration, the army, or the active administration they arrested, charged, tried convicted, and sent to prison? Nobody. Zero. Nunca. Nada. Why? Because Prayuth has had a mandate from the beginning to do the very opposite. To protect the elite, the super wealthy who are guilty, those that are connected, and those who are in power. Just think Dark Tao. Just think Red Bull. The list goes on, and on, and on. Only the most naive amongst us believe he or ACT secretary-general Mana Nimitmongkol are sincere about this.
  12. It takes a long time to get to know someone. 6 months and you have barely scratched the surface. Best to continue being cautious, and guarding your valuables. I have a friend who let himself get taken for his life savings of over $250,000 in gold. He gave her the combination to his safe. Why, one would ask?
  13. Even in the smaller towns, which are not affected by tourism, land prices keep rising. Is this sustainable? Will we see a substantial correction down the road? Or is it up, up, up? A friend told me land in smaller cities in the PI is insane. Multiples of the cost of land in Thailand. Could this be a long term trend? Soaring land prices?
  14. proton said: I don't believe anything written by the kiddies on the Thaiger without verification. Huh? Why would you believe anything on any social media platform without outside verification? Same applies to alot of media. I know people who get their news from Twitter. I ask them the source for their ridiculous claims, and they say Twitter. Huh? Does that mean anything?
  15. Bad wiring is one thing, serial killing is another. We all make mistakes. Taking innocent lives is a big one. You want to talk about misplaced priorities? Lights out, please. It feels as if society has an obligation to take out these dangerous creeps far faster than the current system allows.
  16. It would be a glorious day for Thailand to see Prayuth, Prawit and Anutin facing charges and either jailed or forced into exile. They have never displayed much love for their nation, and especially the Thai people, anyway. Their crimes are likely countless.
  17. Just try it. This time the people would overthrow the army. There is alot of frustration with their failures and if they attempted to steal this election, things would get very ugly. Possibly fatal for the army leaders.
  18. Thailand does have alot to offer. But, world class shopping is not one of them. Any wealthy friend who has visited has told me the wife was complaining about not being able to shop. Not a lack of selection. But, stupid pricing on luxury goods. So, you want to attract wealthy tourists? Lower luxury taxes to 20%. And wine taxes to 60%. In other words, do something unfathomable. Make a sacrifice for tourism.
  19. Excellent. The beauty of the death penalty, is that the state does not have to bear the burden of a life in prison. If the crime is heinous enough, it just seems like the right thing to do. The only part I object to is the appeals process. If there are enough eye witnesses to a multiple murder, no appeal should be allowed. 60 days, and the perp is taken out. Would love to see the same in the US. Wonder if the mass murder rate would drop. You kill 3 or more. You die quickly, and without fuss. See ya. You have self revoked the right to consume oxygen.
  20. The leadership does not know how to deal with media, nor the proliferation of social media. It has them lost in space. They are out of their element. They are dinosaurs. They are no longer able to hide their dirty secrets, nor their putrid laundry. You cannot spin bad air. You can blame it on the neighbors. You can blame it on things outside of your control. But, that does not improve the air. The excuses are no match for solutions, and action performed by real men.
  21. In a country that is facing so many pressing issues, it is a bit of an abomination that a judge would impose a fine on this guy. Such bizarre nonsense. Such a twisted interpretation of the law. Or is this simply a bought and paid for judge, who will not tolerate the promotion of good beer, by a small producer?
  22. If course not. I was referring to DeSantis.
  23. That was a bizarre statement, wasn't it? I know alot of moderate, centrist dems, myself included. And I know alot of conservatives that despise Trump and DeSantis. The extremists are a small number. Though they do seem to be growing in size.
  24. This is disappointing news. And as a Democrat, it leaves little room to vote, at all. On the other side we have a circus huckster crime lord, vs. a very smart extremist. No thanks. I think youth is needed, but not the Ronald type. Few will get excited about voting for a guy over 80. Though, he has been a decent president. Not great. But, not bad. Brilliant, compared to his reality TV host predecessor, but I realize that is not saying much.
  25. It comes down to perhaps the single most significant weakness most Thai people have. The pathological fear of losing face. Who cares what people think of you? For those of us with high self esteem, it just does not matter. It means nothing what they think, nor what they say about you. Nothing, less than zero. They count for nothing. They are just people, and people you do not know, nor will ever see again. With friends it may be different, but most of us can laugh off an insult or a joke. Face is rife with self doubt, and by subscribing to this weakness, and man or woman is made a far lesser person. I consider the practice of face to be the polar opposite of the practice of Buddhism, which teaches the need for introspection, contemplation, owning up to a problem, and taking responsibility for issues, problems and tragedies that you create in life. As many of us know, a percentage of the Thai population lives within fairly small boxes, of social convention, traditions and expectations, especially on the part of the family. That is not a life that some of us choose. Those that are bold and courageous, will find a way to break past conventions, and live a fulfilling life, based on their own choices, independence, and esteem.
