The safe system in Thailand. Get the lazy, useless, wasted Highway patrol, to actually patrol the highways, pull people over for reckless driving, impound their cars, suspend their licenses and perhaps include a short jail term, just for effect. It is known as a deterrent, around the world. Not here. No such thing.

Ponzi scheme operators get over 12,000 years in prison
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Does that mean they will have to continue reincarnating in Thailand, so they can keep serving out their sentences? Just curious about the mechanics of a 12,000 year sentence. -
Jury finds Donald Trump sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in civil case
spidermike007 replied to Scott's topic in World News
This was a civil case, alleging battery and defamation. It was not a criminal rape case. The jury did their job, and found the miscreant guilty. -
80 million baht cash found buried at Buddhist temple in Thailand
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Will the monks be arrested, convicted and jailed? They certainly should be. Alot of people believe by giving big money to the temple they earn some sort of karmic merit. Ha! -
Jury finds Donald Trump sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in civil case
spidermike007 replied to Scott's topic in World News
A truly great victory for mankind, morality, truth, justice and an enormous humiliation for the goombah. Though he will attempt to turn it into "they are all against me, and this is just another witch hunt". Hey Don. You lost. It took the jury only 3 hours to determine your guilt! You are a rapist. That much is clear. Too bad they were not able to get a criminal rape conviction. Only prison is good enough for you Don Don. -
Thaksin Tweets He Wants to Return to Thailand by July

I don't think so. The greatest threat to the nation, is currently the PM, of the nation, and his toxic party. May that threat be gone soon. -
Man Held For Killing British-Thai Youth Over Drug Deal
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
I fear accepting bribes is the least of it. More like taking part and being involved themselves. Likely the army too. Not much morality at the higher levels here. -
Bank of Thailand predicted to raise policy rate to 2% this month
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thanks for the education. In the US for example, the MRR is about a 2% spread. Here is it about 5-6%? That is a scam and an abomination. And that should be illegal. -
If anyone thought Russia was a near superpower, and Putin was smart, all that presumption has gone out the window. Russia is a antiquated, poor, nearly broken nation, barely able to feed it's own people, much less equip it's army. It is ten times the size of Canada, with a comparable GDP. It is corrupt beyond imagination, and Putin is utterly desperate. Russia is a bad joke.

With a humiliating victory in sight, the corrupt, morally bankrupt army sponsored regime will do anything in it's power, to make sure the playing field is not level, and the election is not fair. Have we seen this before? If they engage in this kind of stunt, the reaction will be swift, fierce and horrific, this time. The people are totally fed up with these ineffective dinosaurs, gouging on cash and prizes. Be gone Cha Cha.

The desperados army goons will do anything within their power to avoid a free and fair election, where they will lose by a decisive margin. No doubt the election commission is as corrupt as the army. Woe is Thailand until the dinosaurs are gone for good.

Bank of Thailand predicted to raise policy rate to 2% this month

How are the banks able to get away with charging so much interest on loans, when the benchmark rate is so low? Seems felonious. -
Sounds like he is in very bad shape. What a nightmare for his family. Bizarre that his friends pull glass out of his throat. That is basic medic 101 stuff. Never remove an object from the throat, without the help of a medical expert. Never, ever. Wonder what the actual circumstances were. The pothole story has alot of holes in it. Was he a skilled driver? Was he wearing a high quality helmet? Was he sober? Was another vehicle involved? So many questions.

This is very tragic. No parent should ever have to bury their child. It certainly appears to be murder, most foul. Let us hope the superior minds at the RTP are able to solve this case soon.

Never, ever hesitate to put a dumb, ignorant, nosy or inane person in their place. Good on you. Stupid is stupid.

We are the great Thai army. We are the noble ones. See how much great work we did in the past 9 years. You should let us rule for life. We love the power and the perks, and you are only lowly citizens. You are not important. Your well being is not important. We are important. Listen to us, and do not defy our will. Don't you understand these simple principals?

Good points. As a Westerner I can accept blame, apologize for an offense caused and take responsibility for my actions. No big deal. I care not one iota if I "lose face". Means less than zero to me what others think of me. Some will say it is a cultural difference. True. But, what about the deeper aspects of self esteem and having enough of it to be able to act like a man? A real man accepts responsibility for problems he has caused. When that is being constantly deflected due to a pathological fear of looking bad in the eyes of others, that creates enormous problems for society. I despise the practice of face, and think it is the single greatest weakness of many Thai people. Many years ago my motorbike was parked outside of a bar, and some fool drove by trying to squeeze in between an oncoming car and the bikes. He smashed into about 5 bikes. Then he got up and drove away. I asked the bartender if she recognized him and she said, yeah we all know who he is. The police found him within an hour. We met at the police station. I told him exactly what I thought of him. That he was not a man. That he was a tiny coward for running away. That he was not raised correctly and was a loser. He was shocked. Guess nobody had ever told him the truth before. He was obviously an overly coddled creep. He even asked me to lie to his insurance company about what happened. I told him that I was not going to help him with his failed life. That was on him.
