  1. Yes. I earn $350,000 a year working for the CCP. They are very clever to hire Americans, to disguise their intentions. You couldn't make the stuff up, that I see posted here. Not to mention the "oh so precious replies".
  2. Those bars may have relocated, but they sure were unable to attract many attractive gals. Even Nana is nearly dead. Most of the good spots upstairs are bereft of talent. A year ago it was better. Not sure what happened. Maybe the hot gals left, when they realized there was no real money to be made. It seems the fake puritans were successful in permanently damaging nightlife in Thailand.
  3. Nah. Investor sentiment could not be any lower, and the image of the government is that of a tinpot nation, without much respect for the rule of law. And the program would likely have only attracted 6 or 8 investors.
  4. One can only hope and pray this spectacularly incapable dinosaur is finally given the boot. Perhaps then the trials can start at the Hague. Or he can be deported for crimes against the nation.
  5. I have always said, punishment for a police officer or an army officer should be more severe, not less. And does anyone wonder why we don't take the courts, the cops and the entire judiciary seriously? It is so bent, it boggles the mind.
  6. I guess the major concession of one rai was not appealing enough. Another case of grossly over estimating the value of the "center of the universe"? I predicted only 6 applicants. Wonder if that was all they got? As if a rai for us lowly expats would affect anything. It would be barely a ripple.
  7. Sukhumvit can be a challenge for dining. There is a good Japanese place on the corner or 24/1, that is reasonable and popular. Otherwise, the malls have a good selection of restaurants. Nearly all the good bars on soi 22 are gone. That was a great complex. Sad to see it torn down. The bar scene in Bangkok is greatly diminished. Still a great city, though.
  8. We can sell you guys rice, shrimp, and many of the Japanese goods manufacturered here and we will buy some oil and dates. Do you guys produce anything else?
  9. Very Carlinesque. You should try stand up. I would pay to see an expat stand up comic here.
  10. Yes. I realize that. But, they are referring to the police being heavy handed, and that is a very relative thing for many of us. So, it is relevant from a standpoint of international perspective. It was not a political statement.
  11. In the US, he would likely have been shot and killed. He sounds like an absolute fool. Though I give the cops here very little reason to harass me, I find them to be relatively easy to deal with, and rarely ever do they overly flex their power like in the US. Some departments in the US are worse than others. Many cops there are drunk with power. Some are here too. But, not nearly as many, and they are significantly less obnoxious here.
  12. Total fiction. Though a few products might be going up and down, most are going up. Inflation is here to stay for awhile. Though not nearly as bad as in the US, or Europe.
  13. My suggestion is to implement a law, that carries a penalty that is equivalent to double the prison time a civilian would receive, for any active duty soldier, army official, or police, charged with a crime. As we have recently seen, there are alot of misbehaving fools in those institutions.
  14. The Cambodian army officials and government officials might be far worse than what we have here. Hun Sen is a madman, a serial killer, a land thief and is despised by his people.
  15. It would be a good thing if the RTP started doing actual police work. But, since nobody takes these guys seriously, the warning does not mean much, and will not have much of an effect. However, if they backed up the warning with real action, the police might gain the respect they so desperately seek, more people would survive and less kids would be maimed and traumatized for life, by these horrendous creatures.
  16. Issan is wonderful. Alot of lovely people, amazing national parks, gorgeous women, and alot to see. Also, some major cities. Some people are just highly judgmental. Ignore the ignorance!
  17. Granting a monopoly to True Visions was a horrendous and likely highly corrupt decision. Monopolies are bad for society. Their programming is very inferior.
  18. We are seeing the beginning of outrage and victim culture. Surely a step backwards for mankind. Being a victim over a mild perceived slight is the opposite of being a hero or a courageous person with dignity. Hope it won't last long.
  19. In Los Angeles now. Was at a busy and popular restaurant last night. Had a booth near the area where people walked by, to go to the rest room. Had a viewing of at least 100 patrons up close. 2 good looking women, 45 homely ones and alot of whales. And that is LA. Imagine Omaha?
  20. They need a management shakeup. I was told by a friend that they were dictating lineups and substitutions to Roberts, and that answers the bizarre decisions made in the sad, pathetic, and catastrophic end of this season. Perhaps the most corporate of all baseball franchises right now.
  21. In the US, cheap accommodations are a thing of the past. A friend just rented a small one bedroom apartment in Burbank. Decent area, but not high end, at all. $2,100 a month, +++. Short stay airbnb in this area are $1,500 a week, for a 40 meter studio. Food is outrageous. Big cities in the US are now more expensive than Monaco or London.
  22. The world is a very different place than it was pre covid. So much has changed. I would consider going back to live in the US, if I found a sponsor, or a job, willing to pay me $3 million a year. And then, only for 2-3 years! Otherwise, I am happy to stay here. Less hassle. Less boring. Less predictable. Malls at home are fabulously boring. I kind of like them here. Good food, AC on a hot day, and amazing bird watching. And I would rather park 5 blocks away, and walk, than deal with the terrors of a crowded garage.
  23. True about the crush. At this stage of my life I avoid huge crowds, at all costs. The last time I was in a stadium, it was for a Dodgers game. I arrived early and left in the 8th inning. No thanks, with the huge crowds.
  24. If you prefer excessive rules and regulations, better to stay in Europe, the US, Oz or NZ.
  25. Good. Anytime Thailand can force a thug communist criminal out of there, it is a good thing. Maybe he works for the crime lord Xi. Will they let him back in and what kind of commections does this overly rich creep have, is the real question.
