  1. Since the police never pull over vehicles and issue tickets, we have little to be worried about. I doubt the highway cameras will be linked to any database. Too sophisticated a system.
  2. My heart goes out to you at this time. With Botcoin under $16,000, I guess one has to hope for a recovery. Have some friends who got caught up in the frenzy, and invested most of their savings when ether was nearly $4000. They asked my advice. I replied never buy anything near its historic peak.
  3. Sure. And I would resist with every nanogram of my being. And it is likely he would back down. Never had this happen. A color copy with the visa has always been enough. Or the DL or pink card. I refuse to live a life of fear over stupid regulations. Sorry. Not happening.
  4. I carry a color copy, with the visa printed on the reverse side in my wallet. In well over a decade never once has any law enforcement or other official told me I needed to carry my original passport, which stays locked in the safe. Carrying around your passport with your visa is extreme. The hassle required to replace them both would not be worth it. Defy stupidity.
  5. It is very rare for me to come to the defense of this spectacularly unqualified health minister. But, the opposition is simply on the wrong side of history. No brownie points will be scored! One step forward and two steps backwards. Idiotic opposition.
  6. One very bizarre aspect of living in Thailand, is that many people just simply cannot handle direct confrontation, nor are many willing to take responsibility for their actions. We had a neighbor with a very yappy small dog. It would go on for hours. They were absolutely oblivious. We asked them very kindly and very softly if there was anything they could do to quiet down their dog. It escalated into them coming to our front gate and screaming obscenities to my wife. She was astonished. My wife is a lovely soul and it takes alot to wind her up. She started in on then, and they finally walked away.
  7. The US is not going to go out of its way to make friendly with Cha Cha. He is simply not a serious man, and Thailand, while an ally and of some importance, is not quite the center of the universe they think it is. Fascinating how Cha Cha paid fealty to two dictators at one time. The organ harvesting, ethnic cleansing, intolerant and oppressive Xi, and the serial killing, woman hating, oppressive, no real reform on my watch MBS. Quite a show.
  8. I doubt if too many will shed tears for the oligarchs who lost their super yachts. How many actually earned their fortunes? Putin, Russia and the oligarchs have re-defined corruption and ill gotten wealth. Even the Russians I speak with agree there are no legitimate billionaires in Russia.
  9. Total defiance of idiocy, is my current motto. And whenever I am asked for my passport, a color copy of it and my visa, my driver's license or my pink card is ALWAYS enough.
  10. Mommy, mommy I smoked too much, and the world is spinning around. OK son, we must make sure you are healthy. Let's go to the hospital!
  11. No. Absolutely not. I would surely be arrested or killed by an American cop, with that attitude. However, they are law enforcement officers, unlike here. Here I give them a hard time. They deserve that. They deserve no respect. Never been locked up for it. Quite the contrary, they usually back down here when you are not an easy mark.
  12. Even gangsters commit accidents, it seems. Your honor, I really did not mean to kill my wife, when I slammed my pistol into her head!
  13. Anything, absolutely anything to avoid the practice of real crime fighting. Why is it that these guys always miss the mark, do the wrong thing and miss the point, entirely?
  14. Yes. Absolutely. Nuclear energy is terrifying. Especially here. Reagan proposed se ding tons of high grade waste into space. Hard to fathom. There are many, many tons in the US, that they still have not agreed what to do with. From the same article you cite: By contrast, high-level waste – mostly comprising used nuclear (sometimes referred to as spent) fuel that has been designated as waste from the nuclear reactions – accounts for just 3% of the total volume of waste, but contains 95% of the total radioactivity.
  15. Talk is so cheap here. Such nonsense. This is the same administration that made it so difficult for Toyota to manufacture the Prius here. Becoming a hub requires sacrifice. Prayuth thinks it simply happens by saying it, or wishing it. Offer major tax incentives, property ownership, etc. Make it easy and they might come. Maybe.
  16. I would never carry my passport. Except when going to immigration, leaving the country, or the rare visit to the bank when it is required. Here is a color copy of my passport. Please go away now. You are making a nuisance of yourself, officer.
  17. And what happens to the spent uranium? Where will it be stored? And what happens in the event of a safety issue? Who fixes it? That is the scariest part. And nothing in this world is maintainance free. That is a sales pitch. Not reality.
  18. No. He is just a coward. Afraid of his own shadow. Zero covid? Dumb and dumber. Let's sabotage our nation's economy over a few cases of mild covid. Real smart.
  19. A few kids got way too stoned and ended up in the hospital. Wow. Let's repeal the law! Is this the put one foot in front of the other, then move backwards again approach?
  20. Fun rant. Thanks for that. And I think the taxis pick up many dogs. Many are in parliament or work at the higher ranks of government, immigration and customs!
  21. Avoid FedEx like the plague. They used to be the best in the business. Now, it appears they are skimping on customs brokers. Have had two different packages stuck in US customs for a month each, in the past year. Go with DHL, UPS, or Thai post express mail. Not FedEx. They have gone way, way downhill. And it is of their own accord. It is all about profit over service.
  22. I got my wish list. Maybe I just got really lucky. Maybe I gave myself many years to find out who she really was before marrying. Either way, I feel very fortunate.
  23. This is good. For some reason, at this time, the people do not seem to be pushing back much. I assumed after covid was gone (it has nearly disappeared), millions would be protesting their extreme disappointment with the goons. Not so. Much criticism is deserved. And they did promise the heavy handed Stasi approach would end with the emergency decree. Anyone recall? Ruling with dignity and grace does not seem to be their forte. Perhaps they were trying to impress Xi?
  24. At least 2 months. Eggs have an amazing capacity to preserve, when uncooked and refrigerated. Ignore the FDA nonsense. They are a shrill for big business. A general rule, unwashed eggs will last around two weeks unrefrigerated and about three months or more in your refrigerator. If you’re experiencing an egg boom, it’s smart to refrigerate any unwashed fresh eggs you aren’t planning to eat immediately. This will help them last longer. Or give them away to friends or family. Washed eggs must be refrigerated and will last around two months in the refrigerator. https://www.purinamills.com/chicken-feed/education/detail/how-long-do-eggs-last-facts-about-farm-fresh-eggs
  25. Such a rich topic. I can see you put alot of time into this. Perhaps 1970's Japan. Great culture, food, and amazing women. India in the 11th to 12th century. Said to be extremely prosperous, with a vibrant culture. Prior to the Mongol and well prior to the British invasions, and national robberies. Bali in the mid 1950's. They soon gained independence from the Dutch, and it must have been a paradise. Was there in the mid 1980's and it was exquisite. Now? Not the same place at all.
