  1. I do not even know how one even begins to feel affection for someone they met online, but have never met in person, much less send them all kinds of cash. It boggles my mind. One or two exchanges, are we going to meet, when, and where? And I am giving you 30 minutes. Over coffee. This is an audition. Nothing more. Lets get on with it.

I see guys falling head over heels for women they met online. They invest hundreds of hours calling and texting, with someone they never met. And 90% of the time, when they meet, there is no spark. Duh.

  2. I am not sure why this was worthy of a post. There are always going to be buttheads among the populace, wherever you go. Taxi drivers in Phuket, Samui and Pattaya lead the pack. What is the big deal? I ask them to use their meters. When they say no, I walk away, and find one that will. The vast majority in Bangkok will use their meters, and it usually only takes stopping two or three cabs to find one. Sometimes, the first time. So what? Talk about a minor inconvenience. As they say, water off a ducks back.

Outside of Bangkok is the real issue. The government has done zero, to get taxis in the above mentioned places to use their meters. Nothing. Less than zero. This is part of what we refer to, when we describe Little P. and the rest of his band of incompetents as completely absent from the job.

  3. This is a good, first baby step in the right direction.

A change in consciousness must start at the most basic level. Most Thais think plastic is the best thing ever invented, and the percentage of Thais that even consider the negative ramifications of plastic is incredibly small. This requires some education. I always do two things to avoid the consumption of plastic.

    1. I bring re-usable bags with me every time I go shopping. I use the larger shopping bags I buy in the US, which are made of recycled materials. Most of the clerks have to be dealt with. Even when they see my bag, they still start putting the stuff in plastic. I always mai sai toom. No plastic! Then they start loading up my bag. Most look at me like I am from Mars. Do I care? Not one iota. About 1% thank me, and get it. Not many do. My Thai wife does not like bringing the bags to the store. I force her to. By now, she expects it, and sometimes even asks if I have any bags in the car, or on the motorbike. Same with the water bottles. It used to embarrass her. Now, it is second nature, as I have been doing this for so long, she expects it. So, if a Thai can be conditioned to follow these simple principals, then anyone can.

    2. I bring a bottle of water with me, every time I go to a restaurant. I refill my plastic bottles from the 20 liter bottles at home. It is easy. I never buy bottled water at a restaurant. This saves 300-600 bottles a year. I use a plastic bottle dozens of times. I never get any flack from the restaurants. Only once did someone say something to me. She said you cannot bring you own water. My response was if you serve the water in a glass bottle, and I do not have to consume a plastic bottle, I am happy to pay for that. She was lost. I told her to leave and get me my food. She went away.

We simply cannot say we are concerned about the environment, and then do nothing about it. Action demonstrates commitment. Lack of action demonstrates nothing.

Lastly, restaurants can demonstrate their commitment, by serving drinking water from the 20 liter bottles. It saves alot of plastic. They lose a small amount of revenue, by not selling thousands of bottles of water. But, their operation is still profitable, and they are making a real difference.

There really is not need to be consuming water in plastic bottles. At least not often. There are alternatives. Those damn bottles are a real culprit, when it comes to fouling the environment. What can we do, if we say we care?

What many refer to as toxic, in plastic bottles is BPA, and other toxic chemicals that leach from the plastic, if the bottle sits in the sun, or has been sitting for too long, or is re-used a few times. This can easily be avoided by purchasing these bottles shown here. They are on ebay, and shipping to Thailand is either free or less than $1. The bottles are one liter, and a half liter. Only $2-3 each. Worth it. I use them daily.

Well, I am not Saudi and am surprised by your comments.  You have many posts that I have "liked" about weak males in this country and through out the world.  Comments on how women are controlling men and men are weak.  Now you have changed your thinking and fighting for some female cause in a male dominated profession?

No, it currently is not the same here but you do not know what has been happening internally.  I bet they all just did not make this decision "just because."

Hire females for certain circumstances no problem.  In the US they are identified as "civilian investigators". Not sworn academy graduate cops.  Yes indeed, they have a purpose and can be an asset. But, leave it at that....

Sorry to offend. I am against uber feminism for sure. But I do love women. And I admire alot of women. I think for certain positions, they would be a great asset to the RTP, who have zero credibility in any circles. As investigators, they might bring alot to the table. Why is it that I have such low confidence in alot of the current RTP "police investigators"? It almost sounds oxymoronic, does it not?

But unlike MSNBC, CNN posted double-digit year-over-year viewer declines in prime time and total day.

Richard Quest is entirely to blame for that. Does anyone else find him to be one of the most annoying people on the planet? I cannot even watch CNN, with the volume muted, when he is on. He is that annoying.

CNN has gone completely over the top. While I find them entertaining to watch, they are far too repetitive, and do not do enough investigative work. Fox however, is a dismal counterpoint. The world suffers from a lack of good news!

Women have been a detriment to law enforcement in the US.

I do not know all about here but the article explains some of it.

Quiting for family, maternity leave,  bad attitudes always trying to prove they are better then men,

the BS sexual harassment claims, the fake injuries or reports of harassment so they can get

    a bogus disability retirement.

As far as the sexual assault victims, hire female advocates or trained interviewers to conduct the interviews they do not have to be police officers.

There are some agencies just in Southern California where the female and males officers do not even talk unless it is necessary.  Mostly based on the typical BS "he looked at me wrong" claims guys get tired of dealing with it.

Maybe the officials here see this heading in the wrong direction and want to stop it before it gets out of control like other countries.

You sound like a Saudi man. I am talking about investigators, not beat cops. And whatever applies there, does not apply here. Completely different situation entirely. Here, there are barely any benefits to take advantage of! And the sexual harassment thing would not be the same here. In California it is now illegal to tell a woman she looks good. Here? You really think a Thai woman would be offended by that?

  7. I smell a very toxic mix of sulphur, guilt, fear, and apprehension coming from the Oval Office. Anytime he comes under heat, he ratchets up the deflection technique. It is right out of Putin's playbook. Most despots employ the fake news narrative.

Tiny Don is going to leave the White House, and find that his brand is virtually worthless. He is radioactive. Nobody is going to want to have anything to do with him. Already, units in his building are becoming very hard to sell or lease, and there are virtually no future management deals in the works. Plus, he has lost 17 of his 19 merchandising deals, as his name is impossible to sell. Same with Ivanka. Closed up shop. The whole family is going down like the Titanic.

It is difficult to have compassion for this blowhard. He has brought this on himself, and seem to possess a wanton lust for self destruction.

I had to think a while to remember who he was. It messed up that they embarrass him like that while he's just trying to work. And his excuse of taking the job to stay in entertainment is B.S.. But it seems to have worked in a backdoor kind of way.

What is he supposed to say? I am broke, my luck ran out, and this is all I could get? A man has to have some pride, I guess. Nothing wrong with hope and a dream. Perry is worth $600 million, so he can afford to give the guy a break, and I always enjoy seeing a man who is down on his luck, get another chance at success.

I don't dispose of my ciigy butts "anywhere"....

Filthy habit.........You have never farted in a lift...?   :whistling:

I give you credit for disposing of your butts properly. And if I do cut one occasionally while outside, I try to do it when others are not around. Very, very few smokers ever demonstrate that level of courtesy. Yes the smell, the ashes, everything associated with smoking, for a non smoker is filthy.

  10. Sort of cute how the movement has been flipped up on it's head, with one of it's spokeswomen being accused of seducing a 17 year old boy. She says she could not resist, as he overcame her with his "forceful aggression". She is 20 years his senior. She could have helped herself. She did help herself. To his body. Now, nothing but radio silence, since the photos came out of them in bed together. I suspect Argento might go the way of Spacey. Radioactivity! Unemployable. Oh well.

  11. I always thought it was the other way around. People get intoxicated, and then they want to smoke. Is someone confused? Did they think the smoking ban was for ganga? Or is it just another confused, incompetent official making the bizarre declaration of the day?

Personally, I have no issue with a smoking ban on the beach. I am always astonished that somehow smokers think they have the right to dispose of their cigarette butts anywhere they happen to be. It is a very ugly habit, but then again smoking is a filthy habit, so perhaps the litterbug part of the equation should be expected?

  12. Somehow, the Spacey allegations ring true. Over 30 men came forward? The Seagal and Anderson allegations seem vague, and fake. Seagal can get alot of action, on his own. He does not need to prey on unwilling women. Some of these allegations are ridiculous. Morgan Freeman told a woman on the set "my you look so lovely today", and she reported him saying something "sexually inappropriate". What on earth is she talking about? Just another case of an American woman being completely out of touch with her femininity. That was the only crime committed!

  13. When you are sitting in the tower of your ivory castle, looking down on your subjects, with hundreds of millions of baht in the bank, it is quite easy to say that the floods are not going to be a problem this year. The lack of empathy, compassion, regard, respect, and concern, that most members of this administration have for the common man is always astounding to me. And General Chatchai, who was the numnut nitwit who uttered the statement that the country is safe from flooding this year, is the ultimate numskull.

I have no idea where the above noted comment derived but I do ask, which century does the writer refer to because he/she makes reference to Buddhism but no other philosophical way of life, but makes the sweeping and encompassing inclusion of peoples from world wide origins coming to Thailand to focus on Buddhist activities, e.g. meditation - which is not a Buddhism original - pilgrimages, learning about the origins of Buddhism - which was in India - and other concepts of the philosophy, including, "... its art, shrines, architecture and way of life. "   No mention is made of other countries that adopted Buddhism before Thailand did.  Another piece of brown stuff from the rear end of an elephant or any other animal?  Alternatively, the writer has his/her head stuck in that location and is part of the substance that mushrooms are grown in.

It was a quote from a recent speech given by the illustrious tourism minister. The purpose of the quote was to establish how brain dead, non visionary, tone deaf, and incompetent this man is. And to think he is also in charge of the nation's sports? The secondary purpose was to ask, how on earth could anyone be capable of running a ministry that is supposed to deal with both tourism, and sports, and do it effectively? Are sports really that poorly regarded here by the numnuts at the top? Do they not have any pride?

  15. Another example of the extraordinary lack of vision and leadership within Thailand today. Are they really trying to turn the country into a sanitary place, with the same sort of boring, monotonous, lifeless, vanilla, lack of street life we see in the West? If so, they are doing a good job.

In my opinion the street life here is what makes some areas special. Cleaning up the vendors on Sukhumvit, was a good move in the right direction, as the congestion walking down the sidewalk was too much. But, this? What have they cleaned up? What is the improvement supposed to be? Does anyone even know?

Was it an attempt to get rid of the backpacker crowd? What was it?
