  1. So OP are you saying that the Americans who visited Pattaya early 60's whilst serving in Vietnam never promoted Pattaya.?.

One ref I read wrote that Americans visited Pattaya as early as 1961, so I wouldnt say Americans were late arrivals to Pattaya.

By the way in a previous post I wrote...

I would'nt say America created Pattaya but I suppose they helped it grow and become more known.

The above is still my opinion.

Yes that is exactly what I am saying. There were no US troops in Thailand in the early 60's and almost no US troops in Vietnam during the early 60's. And there was nothing in Pattaya in the early 60's. There was no R&R till 1965 and it was never in Pattaya. Pattaya started being a boom town more than 5 years after the Vietnam war was over and all of the Americans had left SEA.

Sorry you are wrong. The only troops in Pattaya in the early 60's were from Australia.

    Sorry, wrong!

US Military (JUSMAG) had a base in Bangkok over by Lumpini Park in 1961 and JUSMAG also had approximately 20 bungaloes in Pattaya in 1961....

I know, I used to eat at the caffeteria at JUSMAG and go to the Pattaya bungaloes as a kid. :)

I do agree about no R&R center in Pattaya, but in 1963, the Federal Hotel on Sukhumvitt Soi 11 was an R&R hotel for the US Military. You have to understand that eventhough the Vietnam War technically started in 1965, the US had "Advisors" in Vietnam since 1954, when the French got kicked out.....

Correct and JUSMAG is stilll in Bangkok today. As for Pattaya, I was there in 1971 when it was a small village on the beach while on R&R from Vietnam.

  2. Also keep in mind that the RAM will do direct billing to Foreign Medical/VA for any service connected disabilities for US Military veterans . This is one of the very very few Hospitals in the world outside the USA and one of a handful in Thailand that can do so.

Have questions then contact us at the VFW in Chiang Mai at http://www.vfw-chiangmai.org/ or go the District website at http://www.vfwdistrict5.org/ for other locations throughout Thailand

  3. I see an obvious solution: Find a better first clas hospital in Chiang Mai, at less than half the price. Such as Sripat.

I think this thread should be closed. This is pure advertising on the behalf of some and slander on the behalf of others. I have always said, do not like what is on the channel then change stations. I am so tired of the farang community crying over money money money but at the same time those very same people will spend 20,000 a weekend on their vices or throw it away in some other way.

  4. Hi,

I'm a product specialist for diabetes products.

If any of you run into situations where you can't find HumaPens or Humulin/Humalog.

Please let me know, I can help provide the names of hospitals where you can get the drugs/devices

Every patient's life is important and we want to help you! :)

What do you know about automatic insulin pumps, that act by themselves without human interference?

  5. Will not be up to Chiang Mai until the weekend of 2 Jan 2010. Will it still be playing? Hope so. If anyone has the phone number of the Cinema at Airport Plaza CM. please post it or PM me.

  6. I certainly hope that you are not planning on purchasing land by giving the money to a Thai to purchase the land and hold it in his or her name.

Also be extremely careful if you do retain the services of a shyster in C.M. because many of them are crooks.

Those that are not want to be!!

  7. The shell is not dangerous because.... Fill in the blanks. (blank shell, ....get it?)

I didn't know there were captains in the Thai military. I thought all were either grunt troops or generals. Even so, would captain Prakorb allow his kids to play with such a non-dangerous shell?

BTW, explosions have to be triggered by something, even if it's just a sound. Or perhaps it's just the sound of one hand clapping.

Perhaps when the captain gets promoted, and joins the ranks of the thousands of Thai generals, he will get assigned to head security at one of Thailand's four nuclear power plants.

I can predict what he might say when there's a radiation leak, something like, "it's not dangerous because you can't see it, and I still see people walking in the streets and cows grazing in the fields."

Yikes are they not speaking about a Nuclear plant in this country or did I miss something and it already happened!

  8. I only need to take a half a pill a day and told my Doctor to write the prescription accordingly.....he asked why and I replied that I was only taking it so that I would not get my shoes wet anymore when going to the bathroom.

  9. What gets me are the people that spend 5,000 baht to obtain the various estimates when gasoline, time and other factors are considered and then complain cause one facility is 5,000 baht more expensive than the other.

If you do not have the money go to another facility, there are enough of them.

RAM was good to me and continues to be for what I pay and for what I am being treated for. They go out of their way to treat U.S. Military veterans with the highest quality care in light of many difficulties we present.

  10. Now wait a minute am I understanding this correctly?

You are willingn to part with a girl that comes from Isaan that has nothing to hide from you.

And the trade off is that you want to start the relationship with a potential lawyer.

Hmmmmm! Think about what you are saying!

Lawyers cannot be trusted. None of them.

  11. Who in there right minds would want to holiday with there family in a resort ( ha ha) where the mafia run the roost and curruption and scams are the norm.......

Well we will definitely not spend our vacation there as we had planned for us and the three children. I suspect this may be commonplace soon with the economics and all.
