  1. Windows Home Server isn't sell as Software or better: OS but as a complete system: Hardware and Software. HP is one of the OEM who sell them.

    Cheers.

STIMMT NICHT!! Not accurate. I took part in the BETA testing and then ordered and received the Software only, without any hardware or problems and not based on the BETA test participation. Must have been the first one in Thailand. It can be ordered within Thailand.

My dear friend, hopefully your mouth isn't that big as your letters! And why you didn't sized and highlighted the next two word also?

To be precise, you get Home Server also as contents of the Action Pack for which you need to pay a yearly fee! And as Beta Tester for sure.

But you better think about the normal user's and not about that with special privilegs!

Sometimes it seems too difficult to argue with people, that carry the burden of knowing everything. Therefore, I must admit OK I am a liar, never bought software in Thailand, do not even own this particular software and it isn't at this very moment running on my network. Heck, I have to check maybe the network does not even exist. Oh and I did not declare that I was a BETA tester when I (didn't) purchase the software. Enough said!

  3. specially if your existing account is USA based

Sorry to disagree. I have had a stateside account for 3 years that I have now made into a business account, linked to my stateside bank, A European Bank, their Bank cards and also to my Bank of Bangkok account for over one year without any difficulty whatsoever. They are totally aware of my being here instead of the states and it has caused no difficulty whatsoever.

This will allow you to bring in any amount at a price of course, but, with efficiency, security and speed that cannot be said of Thai Banks when receiving a wire transfer.

  4. I suspect that they had an evaluation copy for the mail server software and that it has run out. Hoepfully they will get it fixed quickly! Maybe even buy the license, espcialyl in light of all the money they were earning with it.

  5. Unless you were born here or have citizenship you too are a guest.

Total rubbish! We are all citizens of the planet and have a right to speak out about our enviroment. Borders were created by Governments which was followed by apathy once the taxes were paid. Continue speaking out. It will make a difference! Irregardless of how small it will be something.

  6. Hello,

I'm sick and tired of TOT cybergold 999ms pings all the time, so I want to stop ADSL internet from TOT.

I heard that it is possible to have internet access from independent ISP, if you have a phone line.

My location is soi10 of jomtien beach road.

Now I have TOT 2048/512, which is good only within Thailand, outside it comes to ~100/20... :o

    Thanks in advance

Great! If everyone would just leave TOT my speed would increase a lot. Bye bye!

  7. Weve just had our site revamped ( www.psdphuket.com )

Finflix and simple biz are the guys Jon and Omar , based in Chalong.

Good service and price in my opinion ( actually got their number from a post regarding exactly this a few weeks back )

Jon Cully is the web designer 0874 983630 .

Have a look at our site see what u think and give them a call.

    Note;

I am NOT affiliated in anyway to these guys , just a happy customer

You paid 100,000 Baht for that site? Wish you would have talked to me before doing that. Although primarily publishers that use the net heavily, we also have students that are Dreamweaver experts, that

would have done it for less than 10,000 Baht.

  8. My wife said this is impossible, since this land belongs to the government and the right to use this land has been given to a Thai citizen with the understanding that the land will never leave the hands of that particular family. In other words those outside the family cannot buy the land.

However, note that we did convert our to Chanote, based on some old old records that her family had managed to keep over 100 years showing that they onwed the land outright. It took 3 years. Had a land survey conducted then we paid the taxes and finally the governments land office issued the chanote, which we placed into my daughters name.

  9. I am so tired of the complaining about Thai Immigration policies, property rights etc. Don't like it go home, or did you forget where that was?

As a farang in Thailand I must agree with the Thai Government's policies of both the past and very likely of future policies, in trying to clean up and control who lives and invests in Thailand. Take a look around the area of Thailand you live in.........How many farang come from questionable backgrounds, i.e. those with criminal convictions, non convicted criminals, child molestors, those working without work permits, those that insist on operating under the radar, to avoid taxation in one country or another and the many other less than desirable people, that are not even wanted in their own countries. Why should Thailand tolerate being used as a trash heap for these type of people.

I am tired of the endless drunks, the sexual predetors and other low lifes, that come here from whereever. In some cases there are loosers that sleep on park benches when home in places like London or Frankfurt, yet live here with total immunity while at th same time flaunting the rules set by the Thai people for controlling their acess to this wonderful country.

Certainly I do not speak to the majority, of which many have lived here, some for years, paid their required fees, met all requirements and also succumed to the taxation and work permit rules. I say good on them. Get rid of the farang trash and we should all stop complaining about policies designed to keep life here simple, clean and the Paradise it has always been!

My flame recepticle has been activated.

  10. The actual advice given was that the child's father can seek the registration of his daughter as British citizen by application to the Home Office, but that they would normally expect both parents to sign the form, although the father can still apply and explain why the mother hasn't signed.

    Scouse.

I think explaining the lack of the Mothers presence when applying, is not enough. Either her consent or a Court Order for custody is required. This is in line with International Law, as neither parent can remove a child from the country of birth, without the permission of both parents or due to sole cutody granted by a competent court.

I would suggest he wait until the Mother comes for funding again and then make her a financial offer to be paid once the child is in the United Kingdom. Once she understands that the child would get a better education and have a better life in the UK, it is certain that the Mother will agree to this in return for a financial settlement. Be fair however and offer annual visits to Thailand for the child so that the Mother does not loose her rights. I would also suggest that you ask the Mother to formally denounce her parental rights in a Thai court, so that she cannot change her mind later or extort more monies at a later date. Total expense should not be over 20,000 baht.

  11. hello all, we are newbies here to this forum... we are planning on moving to thailand soonish maybe to phuket, we are rottweiler breeders and thinking of bringing 4 (if not 2) of our dogs to start a breeding/training company. any advice for us or ideas ? would rottweilers be a good idea in thailand? we breed them essentially as guard dogs, but also rottweilers are great house hold pets. thanks for any advice you can give us, and hope to hear a maximum amount of feedback as possible ! also any advice on travelling with the 2 or 4 dogs to thailand would be great, because they are big heavy animals, and i guess we will have problems with air companies ? p.s. we live and therefore will be travelling from France.

Last I heard is that importation of dogs such as Rottweilers and some other breeds was prohibited. Maybe someone more knowledgable than me can shed some light on this as to wether this ban is still in effect.

  12. Not to hijack your post Farang Prince. But, if anyone interested in contributing a short story to a book that I am interested in publishing. I have a two page story of my own that I would include. The printing I would do through my own publishing company and the profits could go to something like the VFW or an orphanage or the like. You tell me! Email or PM through the board or visit http://www.cruisebooks.net/rvn.html for more information.

  13. I salute all of you guys that were there and did your job in spite of Cronkite's BS opinion.

I don't look down on the Vietnam Vets, but I definitely don't salute them, or hold them high in my opinion.

They were very ignorant and young.

They sheep that were told to go to Vietnam, and did so.

The Vets didn't study the Vietnamese language, history, nor have strong political or ideological views, and were too young to be considered educated. The average was about 19.

The average DEROS date was after 1 year. Most vets spent the first 6 months learning, and the last 6 months trying to stay alive.

    That's not a commitment. That's being a sheep.

The Americans were in Vietnam for their own financial interests, and couldn't care less about the Vietnamese people. Yes, a few individual vets may have cared, but that's the exception, not the rule.

I grew up in Berlin Germany, across from the Berlin wall and believed that I was going there to stop communism and the Domino theory and all that. I stayed longer than the obligatory 12 month tour and spoke Vietnamese ... and not just the bad words. I resent the implicaiton that we were sheep. Many of us cared and cared enough to volunteer and try to make a difference. And please explain to me for what financial interest I was there for? There was no oil there, nor gold or diamonds etc. I have never seen anyone that made money from Vietnam, except maybe for DOW Chemical and Colt Weapons Industries and I doubt they made a lot.

    Your apology is accepted.

  14. Did not get in country until 1970 and then served with Team 75 Dong Tam and Team 66 Can Tho, MACV.

    post-7728-1200965814_thumb.jpg

Incidentally that is one of the original patches I wore over there!

Mouse was Dave Dolby still with Team 75 when you were there?

Name does not ring a bell, but, mind you I only remember Sgt Soto, Sgt Vargas, Major Lee, MSgt Yotsef and Cookie (VN National) who woked in the medical hootch at the Team HQ. Spent most of my time at FB Schroeder, the Wagon Wheel or out in the field.

Dave Dolby was an original member of the 75 Charlie Rangers. Did five tours and earned the Medal of Honor. An incredible human being. Last time I ran into him he was an old middle-aged warrior like myself, balding, with a big bushy beard. He was perhaps the finest soldier who served in RSVN. His nickname was "Mad Dog", which he earned when he wiped out three NVA machine gun nests in order to save his platoon. But despite his nickname, he was a quiet, thoughtful guy who grew old very gracefully.

By the way, your Sgt. Soto...that wasn't Roy Soto was it? Roy and I went through basic together. Great guy.

75 Charlie Rangers???? I was on MACV Advisory Team 75, no Charlie Rangers. No one out of MACV ever got a Medal of Honor that I was aware, so it must have been a different unit. As for Soto...do not remember his first name...for me at the time is was just Sergeant. He was a small Spanish speaking man.
