Your relationship with weed seem very complicated. If someone is growing just to make a baht (or buck), it will never be a successful endeavor. One must grow for the sole purpose of having passion for doing it and the need for clean meds. The retail crap for sale in the dispos here is not nearly as satisfying as the nugs we grow ourselves. The time and care spent and the end result if what makes it worthwhile. “If the farmer isn’t happy with his crop, there can never be satisfaction with the task.”

We have some nice sun-grown greenhouse going but you only get 1 outdoor season in Thailand. Come late-Feb / early-March the high heat and humidity returns. Thats fine for crappy landrace but if your going for fat foreign, sticky buds, indoor for the other 9 months. Got some Northern Lights Autos going and they are finishing up. Frosty.. Let’s go…

Savannakhet ME Retirement - My Experience
khunjake replied to Jaymatheson's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There have been recent reports that the consular will only accept proof of funds held in a Thai Bank account to qualify for the Non-O ME visa. A poster was issued a single entry as he assumed funds held in a foreign account was acceptable but apparently its not the case now. -
Ah yes, Chumtien Beach. Whether its the loud music (or fireworks) going on the wee hours, packs of flea infested soi dogs roaming about, rips off left and right, overpriced, underwhelming places to eat, the unbearable traffic throughout and of course the wide array of unpleasant, subterranean foreigners, its a great place to visit, but certainly not an ideal spot to live.

The golden era with Thai for me was from 2003 until 2008. I would fly TG exclusively all around APAC and the prices for business class at that time were very reasonable. I held both Platinum and Gold status for many years and it all went down the toilet right around the time they cancelled the nonstop LAX (and JFK) to/from BKK flight using the gas guzzler A340-500. It was the climax and I pretty much stopped flying them completely by 2010. I don’t think I ever had a cancelled or seriously delayed flight at all during those times and no issues with getting plenty of comped upgrades. It was great while it lasted…

They like to make life very difficult for foreign men living/married to a Thai wife. I was told from reliable source that mainly its because your wife has more income/inheritance and a better life in general then those that hold the perceived power to deny or make your life difficult. Basically jealous in every respect. Its a face thing and the best for me personally is to bounce every 90 days and just deal with the usually kind MFA consulate staff for an annual non-o ME visa. Retirement visa should be way less hassle and issues though.

Thai baht could depreciate further against US dollar, says K-Research
khunjake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Unless the USD/THB gets into the 37.5-40 range, the currency will still be very uncompetitive by comparison of regional peers such as the weak MYR and IDR. Instead of BOT bickering about rates, look at the core issue of failed FDI. Its because the baht is simply to strong to attract capital investment and increased tourism. -
There is already a very strong cannabis lobby here which represents extremely large commercial and local interests. I doubt very much the short timers in the runner up government will get very far in putting the proverbial genie back into the bottle.

Vape at your own risk. Check out the Netflix about Juul. Some scary <deleted>. Only from the chalice in the palace… ras

The reports have been the Savan consulate will only accept 400k+ shown in a personally held thai bank account for the multiple entry Non-o visa. Another posters application for a ME was rejected even though he showed the equivalent amount held in a foreign bank account. It seems they want to see the actual updated thai passbook. Unless I decide to apply for a Non-o extension in either CW or in Hua Hin, I will continue going to Savan once a year which is very convenient and painless for me anyway. A few more years then I can apply for a retirement visa and subsequent extension with hopefully no hassles.

Totally true. While I have had no issues obtaining a legitimate annual extension at one office, it was a completely opposite experience at another office who treated us very poorly upcountry. It all depends on the office and come to find out, this office which made problems wants 35k bribe/extortion payment to authorized agent hence they don’t want married folks just walking on in. Said office already got nailed for issuing unlawful marriage extensions to Chinese triads so go figure.

Exactly. Likely just the yocal farang gettin’ their buzz on who dont/wont pay for boon boom. Hence alone with a beer in hand to talk to. Miserable life. Pats really is the sweaty armpit of Thailand.

More likely made with Delta-9 then from real cannabis extract but who cares, enjoy!

Fast Track thru Suvarnabhumi
khunjake replied to jimmybcool's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I went over to the Thai passports/APEC line and didn’t need to wait but case in point, another bad impression being made for arriving premium passengers who don’t know any better. Whats the point of even having a Fast Track then. -
Fast Track thru Suvarnabhumi
khunjake replied to jimmybcool's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Came through Swampy a few months ago on TG business class. They dont hand out Fast Track cards anymore. The flight attendants just said show your boarding pass. Upon going to the “Fast Track”, an IO was standing in front of the hall and was directing Fast Track passengers to go to the normal immigration queues. So it was completely worthless. -
Thai baht predicted to appreciate amid expected US interest rate cuts
khunjake replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If Thailand really wanted to attract FDI and compete with regional peers, the USD/THB should be closer to 40. If you look Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam, they are far more attractive countries to build factories and hire local workers because their currencies are so vastly undervalued (intentionally) to attract FDI. -
No exaggeration. Its very very bad and getting worse. Skyrocketing home/rent affordability forces people onto the streets especially on the west coast. I’m from LA myself and homeless encampments are found just about everywhere and that was two years ago the last time I went. I couldn’t believe how bad it was. I’m sure its much worse now. On the freeway overpasses, you see camps everywhere. The state of the union is horrific. Thank the dear lord I am here and while Thai has its problems, its nowhere near compared to the tragedy unfolding in the USA.

Are you having a Christmas Dinner today?
khunjake replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Just went and gorged into a AKA buffet. Full until New Years. -
Be sure to instruct your wife and/or loved ones to transport you to a public hospital in case of an emergency. This way you will surely be given care. In the case of private hospitals, i’m sure the government is message will fall on deaf ears as money is always the number one concern, not the patient’s care and wellbeing.
