Is there any place around here that has decent beach waters?
Calm would be a better description than decent. At this time of year all the beaches are going to have waves, check the tide charts to find out when they will be lower. Often in the earlier part of the day. By the way my kids at 3 had no trouble playing just into the water with waves, in fact they loved it..

From what I understood, schools could apply to the ministry of education for a budget of 50,000 baht per month to pay for a foreigner teacher.
Is this still currently the case?
What is the latest info on this?
Urban myth. There is no such budget at all. I would like to know where you heard it, as I have been here 30+ years working in education and have never heard of it.

He suggested that from here on in things would only get better and that "at least 8 million tourists would come to Thailand in 2022".
Put up or shut up. Sick of this talk. Why not make it 18,000,00 if you are going to pull a number out of your A&&?

I think they did renovate the domestic section at DM around 2017.
And yeah, comparing swampy with DM is like comparing potatoes with cheese crackers.
The domestic airport was closed years ago, and now all domestic go from Terminal 2.
The two can be compared. DM has a soul and Swampy does not. Just a sterile cement bunker full of duty free shops, most of which are now currently closed.

15 hours ago, Lizzy Duang said:That can perhaps be changed. But you might just accept the status quo. Which is different, by the way. Thais confirmed that one jab is okay, and foreigners have gone from Chonburi to BKK and checked in hotels without any questions. So it might be good to read more travel experiences than unsolicited advice.
It seems quite clear the only advice you seek is this "Yup you can go anywhere". This simply is not the case. The one jab was in the past for Astra only. You will encounter problems all the way around. The Thai are very concerned over the vaccinations and masks, its that simple.

Lmao. More fool you for coming to a country which is ruled by coup leaders who could not organise a chimpanzee's tea party. This country is in the hands of the most incompetent people who are making it up as they go along. Get back on the next plane out to a country that is worth visiting & treats people as adults not children.
Can you even get up and walk with that two ton chip on your shoulders? Nice rant out of left field.

So what is the story? I thought it was supposed to be easier to visit Thailand after November
It is when you get vaccinated. Until you are vaccinated you are on the outside looking in.

I never wear a mask in my car. When its my wife and I neither of us wear a mask. I have not heard of this ever being enforced.

Maybe I have lost sight in the color maps so excuse a dumb question.
Yesterday checked in at a hotel in Pattaya (no ASQ/ASH).
I had to show my vaccionation status which surprised me somewhat.
Hotel tells me only vaccinated guests.

He was checked at a non ASQ/ASH hotel. This is why he is surprised and posting.

I also take a metal tiffin (see photo) to the night market to buy my curries. Every single time, they look at me like I'm completely crazy.
A "pinto" in Thai. But not used to take to the market in Asia. It would be packed at home.. Rice in the big pot, then veg, soup, and curries individually in the others. A unique style I must say. One of a kind.

<removed>. One airline used to do this but no longer does. What is your point in starting pointless threads? The non mentioned airline had been cautioned over this practice as a number of countries do not allow flowers to be brought into their country, due to a possible problem with pests.

You lost credibility when you posted Dr. Anutin. He is an engineer not a doctor, although he likes to dress up as one.

Yes they do... I had both my injections on a Saturday. Mid June and early August AZ, the wife had both on a Saturday at a different location. Last Saturday Oct 9th right at 700,000 doses were done.

I am pretty sure the will have the info in the national computer base. When you go for you next simply check and ask them to update to include both dates.

My wife tells me today there is a lot of Covid in the town of Chiang Rai, places like HomePro and Makro are having problems, so my going to Immigration and DLT tomorrow is worrying despite being vaccinated and having new good quality masks in a dazzling array of colours.
I think you best not listen to your wife, or stop listening to village gossip. This comment is just silly.

Best estimate for education re-start is November.
This refers to schools, such as pratom and mattayom but it seems the universities are up in the air.. Perhaps November for some of the universities that are still on the Thai schedule, but there have been no provisions to inoculate the students as of today. The universities that are on the western calendar seem to be shooting for Jan. Chula I know is on the western schedule. Most have had no in class learning since March.

1. Lying, in order to convince themselves that eating it every day is out of choice and not necessity.
2. Saying it's a favourite when they are not actually in Thailand and desire it as a one off 'treat'.
3. Insane
What would be the purpose of replying to an OP like this? You have your mind set that you dont like Thai food, but at the same time you are trying to push those feelings onto others. Perhaps you would be better off somewhere else. I do prefer Mexican to Thai, and simply make a decent version here. Some rant dude..
