  1. Why does he not just order the local government employees who are paid to do it, to go out and clear the waterways? maybe oversee an audit to determine that all the money that is assigned to infrastructure projects is spent on the projects. I wonder how long his term as a volunteer lasted?
  2. I like to make them when the ingredients are fresh from the supermarket - some cheddar (tasty will do) - fresh sourdough from tops, and a quick pickled red cabbage made from white vinegar.
  3. Absolutely. I wasn't advocating it, more suggesting that in Thailand there is no boundary between experience and stupidity.
  4. Every Thai workman / handyman / etc takes off the guard / handle / protection.
  5. This is the best biking road in the whole of the South of Thailand - If you can hop over the border into Malaysia the road that runs from East > West coast Malaysia is also good, but not as fun as the (single carriageway) to Betong, especially around the bridge area.
  6. You say ditched, I say saved. AN has a healthy balance, seems all walks are accepted here - there is some fun banter, some serious posters with some great info, there isn’t so much inane repetitive posts that you find on Reddit subs, but fb - I don’t get it. I keep fb for school friends I didn’t like 30 years ago. You aren’t anonymous, I don’t want to get a slap on the side of the head in big C from someone I might of upset. Everyone thinks they know more about everything than you will ever know, I certainly don’t want to meet up for a nice breakfast, buy anyone else’s overpriced leftovers or see pictures of anyone else’s missus - god forbid post any pics of my missus. I slimmed it down to one local group to post the odd question or try and give my unwanted stuff away. To me, fb is a strange platform.
  7. @Woof999 I think that's a nice piece of land, nice and straight, good fertile soil, near the river - looks amazing. Good luck!
  8. Yes .. sorry, just falling into the old expat "I dont pay that much" trap - that's one reason we moved from the South, I think you have better labour, with Burmese workers but other than that its quite expensive. Everyone has a tractor around here, The prices here should be lower due to competition, but they all fear the local politician guy.
  9. I would ask around, there is a "tractor mafia" all controlled by this local earth contractor - even though they are just farmers with machinery to do the job - we have to pay 500B per hour, which I find over the top, so 800 is a little too much - as you say, it all adds up. If you want a "macro" a mini-digger, it's 3500B per day. If I had as much land as the op, I would buy a second hand macro from fb marketplace and / or a kobota - it can be sold on after and will pay for itself in the long run, there are so many times I wish I had a macro on site and I would just do something small, stuff like breaking up some clay soil or whatever.
  10. Me too- I’m a fan of a double egg and sausage McMuffin - but I’m too lazy and don’t have the time to drive into town, so I just use a copycat recipe - sage and black pepper, some onion powder. I like Prime sausages from Pattaya, they have an authentic supermarket processed creamy texture.
  11. Has anyone come across online slot's ? It seems with the lottery, it's a game of very slim odds but online smartphone gambling is a beyond me. We don't have a lot to do with MIL but she is into it up to her neck, convinced that she can make back her losses, won't listen to anyone that tells her she is being had - classic addict.
  12. Worth a watch? I started watching it the other week, got as far as the kid going back to find him on the ground. You mentioned something about the ending.
  13. I think you are well aware of the risks. I like your plan, if you are prepared to walk away, then you can only benefit - I have a similar outlook. I have read your posts over the years, sometimes you wan't need to plot up and set up your ham radio in a place called home. The house seems kind of sensible, I wish I could live as simply as that - fan cooled bedroom and lounge upstairs - downstairs bathroom - outside kitchen. You could draw up a contract, but at the end of the day I have never seen a contract in Thailand (probably in Laos too) worth the paper its printed on. Good luck!
  14. I think so .. Before I had even visited Buriram I knew about the pieman. http://www.burirampieman.com
  15. Did you see the Buriram pieman?
  16. Watched the first episode of The Gentleman - good. This caught my eye.
  17. This guy is really helpful, also the Korean eSun filament is quite good. https://www.tmake3dprint.com You are a little late for today, but if you order before lunch then you will receive the next day. There is another place like Siamreprap in BKK, https://www.siamreprap.com If I think of anywhere else I will update, but tMake is super helpful.
  18. 👍 lol - yeah, blackwater were a private military company - blackshore. Sometimes I just like to watch a plain English language show, no drugs or gangs, no reading subs, not thinking too much. Its OK. I have been plodding through Roba, which is like a Finnish version of The Bill.
  19. You need professional assistance - this is digital marketing, not just pulling together a website as an alternative to fb.
  20. Yes, I understand, you would need something like a one-page - a little like this https://www.wgorilla.com detailing, where you are, what you do, how to contact you, etc. This site was built with DIVI and you could do this kind (a little simpler) of thing quite easily. I mean involved, by getting sucked into building the website more than developing your business idea. My ideas were just as much about the website as much as the business idea, your focus may be in a different area. Maintenance - I was using Wordpress, there are various plugins that get updated that break the site or layout from time to time - sometimes the site goes down, and you might want someone alerted and take care of it, you also need hosting - do you want to deal with a yearly bill for a server with space that you dont use (not expensive) or let someone else handle everything? The dropship idea had a shopping basket feature, PayPal payment, if I was producing new designs someone would need to update the catalogue, but really, it was matter of duplicating a segment and replacing the images and text, but in your case I presume you just need a one page with your info. It's worth digging around yourself, asking yourself if you possess the skills to produce a website to - its not so much about coding, although it can be, its often about design - Youtube is always a good place to start with tutorials. If not, there are other options available as mentioned. All the best with your project!
  21. I hate it when businesses link to a Facebook page - it's not hard to build a small website to increase your online presence. If you are setting up a business later in the year then you should look into making your own one page site, its not difficult and quite interesting. I had a few ideas a few years back, and I built a few sites using DIVI builder https://www.elegantthemes.com/gallery/divi/, using Wordpress - I bought some cheap domain names, used a host service that did 3x websites for $20 per year. DIVI is pretty easy to learn, its just drag and drop. I had a little drop shipping enterprise, printing t-shirts in China for online teachers and I got a guy on fiverr to build me a e-commerce site, it was cheap enough, but the guy wanted a lot of money to maintain it, so its worth acquiring the know how to maintain your own site. Fiverr was a good option, I don't know about now. If you don't want to get too involved, there are plenty of designers on the indian subcontinent available at budget prices, they are a bit lacking in imagination but once you have a basic framework in DIVI you can make a backup and play with the content. If all this is a bit confusing, you can host a Wordpress site using their own templates for free - I made a little site at the weekend, using infinityfree hosting following this tutorial
  22. And also Blackwater another series from RTE. Not bad, a bit of a played out theme, but worth a watch. A 1080 version of the Danish prison drama Huset appeared which im looking forward to watching.
  23. I dont know about a full set but I had two teeth removed and dentures installed, I was happy with the bill of 2K from the uni dental hospital - So, if you have a full set then 30K doesnt seem far off, or us there discount for bulk buy?
  24. Don’t you know the difference between a political demonstration and a mob?
  25. One wonders if it was a well-heeled and connected Thai hi-so that lived in that villa that kicked a westerner who was “moon watching” if we would be reading a different story. Thailand - hub of mobs - the only thing is, I never hear of a mob outside the villas of any of the real criminals of this country.
