  1. If this is not news, apologies, we wouldn’t normally buy this, we make our own at home. Damn you CP co. man made bacon! it even has streaks of fat.
  2. I had an incident the other week, dinner at a mates house - an Aussie guy has a Thai wife, just visiting from Auz where they live, he has no interest in Thailand, can't speak Thai, never came here on holiday before meeting his wife in Auz. The Thai conversation scene shifts, you can hear the Thai speakers speaking a little more aggressive, their faces screwed up. My wife is sitting next to me and we can hear the conversation across the patio - The Aussie guy becomes concerned and enquires along the lines of "is everything ok, the mood seems to have shifted" - I said "Its OK mate, they are just talking about food", my wife speaks good English, laughs and agrees.
  3. Canola oil is a sweetspot between price, taste and health for us. Ricebran is ok but sometimes a little expensive - soya production has some negative environmental effects, right? I feel canola has some issues too. ETS: Yeah, the seed is often genetically modified, but is listed as a sustainable source.
  4. This was mentioned by some Italian speakers .. You can find the files with hardcoded subs kicking about PS is no one going to start a 2025 thread?
  5. I tried this before, I posted on here that the reporting time from 15 days until the date, not the 7 days after. So the last one, I filed in the window stated. Didn’t work. I have 17 successful reports, over two offices, there was even a time when the visa expiration date had changed, it was still accepted - for the last two, it has been rejected, two reasons given - Mai dai and Mai lue.
  6. It's sad really, I wish there nothing was posted at all. I wrote some code for a microcontroller in AI the other day, awesome, I now have an automated roller blind - My sister wanted some artwork of cars that resembled a drawing from a Haynes car manual and the AI understood and converted a photo to a line drawing. Amazing results. I understand that AI has a pretty important role in today's world. However, then I get homework submitted that's obviously been written in ChatGPT, and every student has the same homework. Then I come here to AN and read a clunky and obvious attempt at an AI forum post. I can think of better uses.
  7. Maybe interesting, on showtime.
  8. I think it’s only in Dutch atm, it hasn’t been picked up by Amazon yet. I started the first episode years ago and then left it, I’m still unsure if it’s any good or not. It seems an interesting tale, an unusual partnership, I’m sure he will lose his new position, idk. We had a good run of TV recently, Cross, The Madness, Helicopter Heist - Things have kind of dried up, so time to watch some series that have been in waiting. Really enjoying Landman - the BBT character is excellent. Im still waiting for the English subs of the current series of Mocro Maffia ..
  9. I noticed Klem - a Dutch drama series got a 4th season, so decided to watch the first season to see how it could make 32 episodes. Quite an addictive tale of a released convict and a strait laced tax man. The first was featured on Channel 4’s Walter presents .. some subsequent series were released on Amazon. Gets some mixed reviews, mostly good, I think.
  10. ahhh .. it’s a movie .. I thought it was a continuation of ferry: the series.
  11. Really? I never had an issue with the whole process. In HY one guy came, everything was a formality short and sweet - they wanted photos on the bed there which is a bit of an imposition. Generally HY office is pretty straight up, I didn’t mind them. There are so few expats down that way immigration has more lucrative avenues of making money than extorting westerners, I think we are seen more as an inconvenience. In KKC two guys came, we made them sit in the garden. I prepared two witnesses, they made them sign, and then loitered about making small talk about my bikes, obviously expecting the missus to say “oh, thanks for coming, here’s a little something ..” as some would do. My wife didn’t see their angle, lol, and she kept on babbling on, they wasted a further 10 mins there.
  12. Yessss! We bought a Dunlop matress from an ad on fb, we did a bit of research with the link provided and you ordered it directly from the factory. There was a sale on this specific range, the price was right, not the 30-50k range maybe 10-20 - so, to hell with it, we just bought 2x they couldn’t be a worse that the pile of springs that we had. It turned out to be the best mattress I have ever slept on, for the first weeks, I couldn’t wait to go to bed. I guess you could go and check each range at a shop before spending over 1000 USD on it.
  13. I have had no problems with any home visit - the OP doesn’t mention where he will be applying, just for experiences. My suggestion is that it is generally painless. The other poster has similar experiences (who is in Chaiyaphum, the OP probably won’t apply their either) asked questions by an over zealous IO. Like I said, in KKC, it’s just a formality, you file your application, the FLS check the documents efficiently and then an IO processes the visa pretty swiftly.
  14. urghh .. that’s so annoying. In Hat Yai, there was a nice young female immigration officer, easy to understand her Thai. The following year she moved to retirement visas. The new woman was plain rude, we didn’t click and I just didn’t want to talk to her. She tried to ask me about how I could afford to live in Thailand as I wasn’t of retirement age, i said “I rent out properties in the UK” “aha .. gotcha, you said investments last year” to which I replied, well isn’t that the same thing, I wasn’t so specific last year, sorry, then she went to “so .. what’s your parents name?” I looked at my wife, and we both said in unison “mum and dad” and had a good laugh together. She went crazy, telling me she was a police captain, that she was to be shown respect at all times. She continued to tell me on my report that my Thai language was very good, but I hadn’t spoken any Thai today. I informed her that I sometimes I don’t like to speak Thai and for official business it’s better to speak English. She tried to tell me that she was doubtful that I was the same person who applied for a visa the previous year. There was no issue with the application, she was just puffing out her chest. I never saw her in the subsequent years, but I heard her in the next cubicle giving the applicant the third degree, needlessly too, people generally don’t retire to Hat Yai for an easy life, there has to be something that keeps you there.
  15. I never have issues - I have done mine at two different offices, I think I’m at 8-9 of them now, I lost track. Sometimes you can get ahead of yourself (one year I got my financial letter the day before which you would think would be fine as I had an appointment - during Covid - for a 9:00 am, that caused issues) but generally nothing changes, I have a checklist on my computer, all the documents scanned and on in a folder - the procedure is go to immigration get the forms, take photos (always the same, 2 off - in front of the gate Inc house number, next to front door, kitchen and on sofa) complete the forms and print documents, go to the photo shop, drop off the file, continue to ampur to get KR2, pickup the photos on the way back. Next day, bank at 8:00 then on to immigration, usually home before 11:00. The best thing about KKC immigration is, they don’t ask any silly questions - it’s just a formality in which I sit in silence and sign the forms as directed. At Hat Yai they asked questions about meeting wife, financial position, etc .. and they made notes and tried to catch you out the following year.
  16. Its pointless worrying about warrantee work then - you can go to Amorn and they will fit a new battery for you.
  17. Yeah, I think you are right - mine was just a guess, I remember the story now. I have no interest in F1 at all, but I have been reading these posts for years on various places and I was interested by the story of Prince Bira and the continued saga of the proposal. Its nothing but a money grab now.
  18. Synex are the agents for zircon - if its within a year, just drop it into the local branch of Synnex - they were really good when mine didnt have any power.
  19. Its been touted for many years .. Birabongse Bhanudej designed a street race around rattotaksin island in the 50s. The route that others are posted is banned - there was a law passed in 2013 banning any such streetrace around the historic sites of Bangkok. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/formula-one-stalls-bangkok-law-bans-car-racing-102346416.html I dont know why its suggested, it seems that Phua Thai PM's are keen to push the idea but are unaware of the laws - this may be one reasons for the chattujack proposal. Its an interesting subject with a long history, there should be a wiki page that can be referred and added too every time some politician comes up with the latest idea. Bottom line is, how much cash would it really generate and how much needs to be laid out and wether or not that should be spent on more important infrastructure projects - I also suspect its one big excuse for a lot of people to fill their pockets.
  20. No, it was a word used by the article - I think it was byline times, I was looking for the link. It was more of a light hearted post about the increased relevance of social media in todays political scene.
  21. I could “forgive” the poster, but brain farts are happening every day on GBNews by politicians who should know better.
  22. I think that kind of proves a point. I read an article the other day, the rise of the populist right coupled with the widespread use of social media has resulted in a huge rise in stupid people getting involved in politics for the first time, the effect on the landscape, posting their opinion where traditionally they were out of their depth and kept their opinion to the works tea room. How can you be so illinformed to get hajj and jihad confused?
  23. I'm sure it will filter down, looks a bit different, there doesn't seem to be too many Scandinavian action series about. Try to google this Conflict.S01E01.1080p.WEB.h264-XME
  24. Heads up. Tehran has only been broadcast on Israeli KAN and the files kicking about only have Hebrew hardcoded subs .. the Apple TV release has yet to be announced - I was unaware it was an Israeli production. Konflicti looks interesting, there only seems to be one episode (01) with English subtitles, the scene group mentioned in the filename is XME, the NetITV files only have Finnish subs.
