  1. So if it's up to the electorate, then damn the constitution. Let's get Arnold Schwarzenegger to run. He'll for sure win the general if we ignore the constitution which states a US president needs to be born in the USA.
  2. Here's one way to get rid of the orange baboon: Colorado Supreme Court removes Trump from 2024 ballot https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-news/colorado-trump-14th-amendment-12-19-23/index.html
  3. I lived in the US about 15 years. Many of those in an INBRED state. I couldn't believe how backwards the people in the INBRED states were. The only thing I could come up with at the time was that after the civil war, the gene pool dried up in those states due to most of the males being killed. So yes, Trump preys on those least capable of seeing through his BS.
  4. I really need to ask. Why do you want that info? Afraid of being scammed? Trying to find someones personal information for nefarious reasons?
  5. I'm not that senile (yet). I prefer to do this stuff myself, just to make sure I still can. This exercise is to make it easier for myself to do the extension when there are no lines.
  6. Wonderful. I'll try this in jomtien in January and post the results here. Thanks.
  7. Funny how the majority of the people you refer to are MAGA. Not smart enough to see through trump. Not smart enough to invest for retirement. Hmmmm.

    Only in Quebec.
  9. I don't use a water heater in the shower except for 3 or 4 days each year. Approximately December 19 to 23. The water temp from the tap is enough other times. So hang on. Winter is coming soon.
  10. In a country so disorganized, it's hard to see how they would do this. Every credit card/ATM withdrawal will need to be correlated to a unique individual. Do they expect visa/Mastercard to track it for them? Good luck with that.
  11. That's what I alluded to in the OP, and @Sheryl also mentioned. When you leave without a reentry permit, your visa is no longer valid. You have to get an NR-O on which you can then get a yearly extension based on retirement. I may need a short vacation outside Thailand to accomplish this.
  12. People still use cell phones? Wow.
  13. I'm not really concerned with a potential increase in the amount required to be kept in a local bank. As I age though, I like to keep stuff as simple as possible, and this could simplify the yearly venture to immigration. I could use an agent. I will save that for when I can't do it myself.
  14. My yearly “retirement visa“ expires in February. The lines at immigration are terrible then. I'm beginning to consider trying to work out a way to change it to a more reasonable date, like July or August. I could let it expire and restart the process with the tourist/NR-O/retirement path. Or maybe when I renew this time I could get them to make it expire in July. Any ideas?
  15. Pay from your phone with a QR code. No change. Problem solved. Does 7/11 take QR codes for payment?
  16. Pay from your phone with a QR code. No change. Problem solved.
  17. Siri or Alexa reporting home and then Apple or Google or Amazon selling the info that you're looking for gutters. Obviously. The first thing I do with a new device is disable those audio assistance services. Everything within earshot is transferred back to the provider. 24/7/365
  18. This conversation is about the US. Other countries are irrelevant. Trump was president, therefore everything that happened on his watch is his responsibility. Same as they're doing to Biden today. Maybe if Trump handled covid better, it wouldn't have been so bad. Regardless, Trump killed the longest period of expansion in US history.
  19. It only took Trump a couple of years to destroy Obama's “longest economic expansion on record“ due to his mishandling of COVID. Looks like it only took Biden and his team a couple of years to get it back on track. With the declining inflation, interest rates, etc., it should look good for Biden by November.
  20. I'm not the one that needs to disprove your nonsense. Obviously you can't backup your numbers, as expected.
  21. You're obviously pulling these numbers out of your a$$. None are close to accurate. Obvious right wing nonsense. Better get a link or two to justify your idiotic numbers.
  22. It can depend on what Thai bank the money is going to. Last time I checked the 3 “fast“ banks were Bangkok, SCB, and Kasikorn. Others can take more time.
  23. I've used wise to transfer funds from banks in both Canada and the US. The US transfer was easy. The Canadian one, not so much. I wouldn't blame wise for that but I would blame the Canadian banking system. They were probably right. Try to avoid the interac method.
  24. That's so funny. Why would anyone fly a third tier airline like air Canada when they can fly Eva? 13 hours is about right for non stop. YVR to Taipei is about 11 hours. Taipei to BKK is about 3.
