  1. I have no mind about this one way or another but the article was commenting on the fact that the 'masses' followed the rules and the rich do not. The event was back in January. I thought that Chiang Mai (and most other places) had an alcohol ban back then. Difficult to remember exact dates because then moved to state 'SHA plus' restaurants could sell alcohol, then it was bars could obtain restaurant licences etc etc. I do agree with your Puritanical ‘anti-alcohol’ comment though. ???? cheers.
  2. No one is making Russia look bad. Putin is doing that all on his own.
  3. Things are opening up. I cannot say exactly what as my nightlife stops at 22.00 from choice. (First check out tomorrow is 06.00!) The other 3 questions Yes. Whenever. Yes.
  4. I think that it is pretty much like that all over rural and semi rural Thailand. It certainly happens a lot here on Samui.
  5. Bloomin cold and very very wet here on Samui. Non stop rain for the last two days and it is set to continue until Wednesday.
  6. From the limited information that we can see, the majority of these seem to be ATK tests. ie self testing and then registering with the hospital. I would think that these are mostly Thais claiming the free medicines and insurance. Most of the foreigners that I know, including myself, who have found to be positive have not bothered to report the result. (If I had reported it, I would have received 50,000 THB from the insurance company.) The only exception was a friend who was going to Australia. She needed a 'fit to fly' certificate and so had to register as positive. She was told not to go to the hospital and to quarantine at home (mild symptoms). Her husband collected the certificate for her.
  7. Our guests have been doing self quarantine in their rented villas since December. 10 days in the villa and sorted. Whilst in the villa, they have been allowed to walk the beaches etc - just have to avoid people.
  8. Good luck in your search. I did not find anywhere that looked reliable when I wanted to sell my watch collection some years back. (I never wear a watch in Thailand.) I managed to sell a couple of watches on trips to the UK, but the rest I gave away to family and friends.
  9. Money. She wants more money. 30 million baht is just not enough to live on.
  10. Yes, I know what the 'blurb' states, but..... .....when I try to pay, I either receive a message stating 'no stock' or 'the store does not deliver to your location'. You do not live on an island do you? It's a bit different to living on the mainland. What I am ordering weighs more than 24 kilos.
  11. Thanks. I will have a look. Nothing on-line.
  12. There used to be a thread for this but I could not find it. Is there still an agent on Samui who would help to expedite orders from IKEA? If so, please can I have contact details. I need to order a couple of sun parasols but cannot find any half decent ones in the local shops. Lazada is my last option. Not impressed with them lately. I have seen decent ones on the IKEA website.
  13. But Anutin (Health Minister) says that water splashing and alcohol are the cause!????
  14. I am always concerned about the Thai habit of wearing black or dark clothes. I understand that they do not show the dirt like white ones do, but black/dark clothes attract mosquitoes, retain the heat and make it almost impossible to see people on the roads at night. "Wear something white at night".
  15. I have seen quite a few humans doing all of that, but screaming at the top of their voices instead of barking.
  16. And now vets fees will have to increase so as to pay for insurance against claims. I have had to euthanise a number of dogs here and I would never sue a vet. They are caring people and they love animals. They charge very low prices and will try their hardest to do the right thing. A sad, vicious attack by these owners.
  17. Therein lies a major problem in Thailand. The Thais expect corruption. ????
  18. More unemployment. ☹️ Thailand - hub of unemployed and distressed people.
  19. A friend went to Samui immigration today and was given a 'Covid' extension until May 2nd. Looks like it is up to the local office to make a decision.
