  1. Totally disagree with your comment re good/bad parenting. My mother treated both my sister and I the same . I respect the law, never hit people (especially women) and try to be polite to everyone. My sister is a criminal. Wanted by the police and when I caught her stealing cash from our mother and grandmother I kicked her out of the house. We never saw her again. Some people just grow up bad. It is usually from the people that they mix with. Social media now is a BIG influence on kids. People forget the innocent victims of crimes like this one. Parents, siblings, children etc. I am not judging this kid's parents, but they will be hurting as well. Not the same as the family of the poor women who died, but they will still be hurting.
  2. Sadly, most people these days do not think about the old mantra - Mirror, signal, manoeuvre. RIP young lady.
  3. You can also include Samui immigration office in that list. As online registration is painless, I register every time that I return home. ????
  4. An article in the BP stated that the boyfriend actually caught her by the leg as she jumped, but he could not pull her back in. A witness on the ground verified this.

    Toppers!

There is a good selection of Toppers in Homepro here on Samui. I do not know about Pattaya.
  6. Less than $30,000 is poor compensation for the two young girls that saw their mum being killed.
  7. It is not just the the Buddhism. The vet that I use told me that it is quite difficult to get the drugs for this procedure and there is a lot of 'hoop jumping' and paperwork. At least in many areas there are voluntary groups taking in the strays as well as neutering them. The area where we live is popular for 'dog dumping'. It is very sad. As soon as we see an abandoned male dog, we call in the vets. Many of the dogs have adopted local owners and the security guards.
  8. Not when you live on a private development and the charge is 9 baht per Kwh. The payback on my small installation (no batteries) was just under three years.
  9. I am starting to feel like that with April. ????
  10. Plus interest (not much though)
  11. Grab are not allowed to do airport pick ups. The last guy who tried it got shot. We use a reliable lady called kh Ked (Kate) I will PM her number to you
  12. PM sent to the OP with details for a good supplier and installer on Samui. At least 7 installations in the development where I live.
  13. I installed solar panels through a guy called Claude email [email protected]. About 7 of my neighbours have used his services as well. I only collect power during the daytime (no batteries) but the system paid for itself in just under three years.
  14. Apparently, they practice these procedures every three months or so. Well done SP.
  15. Many places. Police, armed forces, illegal imports, home made. Not difficult to find if you look on social media. The 14 yr old kid had a 'prop' gun that was illegally modified.
  16. I receive OTP's on my AIS SIM from Nat West in the UK - no problem. I also receive OTP's from my UK PayPal account OK.
  17. Now is the best time to go. Security levels will be high until complacency sets in say in six months or more.
  18. I have just read about the shooting in Siam Paragon, Bangkok. Banning guns might also help to improve public safety..
  19. Sorry Sheryl, I cannot answer that one quickly. It is all paperwork trails but all of my documents still state April International with all of the French contacts and that is who I transfer money to via their bank in Lyon when I use an International Bank transfer. I am currently trying to make a claim for a colonoscopy/haemorrhoid removal and they tell me to send my claim to an address in Bangkok. I was originally on an 'Asia Expat policy' but in 2018 they moved me onto an 'Asia Health Plan policy'. I was led to believe that it was the same company but a cheaper policy eg no repatriation and so on. Just supposedly easier to have 'local' contacts. The bits in bold are the headings on the invoices. Apart from that policy name change at the top of the invoice, and the policy number, all documents are exactly the same.
  20. The reporters should check their previous stories. BJ's lawyer has ordered him not to speak about the subject.
  21. Well done to Mrs taxi driver handing the fare over to her husband.
