The two emojis that I would vote for are a WTF (?) emoji and a thumbs down one 👎. I cannot believe what some folk post. 🫣

You were lucky. I have an account with SCB and I wanted to open a new fixed deposit account. I showed my passport, driving licence, work permit and house book. "Must have proof of address form from immigration" I explained that immigration here on Samui do not do this any more. I showed them that my address was on the driving licence, work permit and house book. "Must have proof of address form from immigration". Goodbye SCB. I then transferred most of my money to Krungsri.

On the Thaiger main page at the moment, there are 8 stories of Thais behaving badly and 2 stories of foreigners behaving badly. And the Thaiger is aimed at foreigners/English speakers.

Same as nikmar Ugly as sin from day 1 and stayed that way for 72 years and counting. I was so ugly as a baby that my mother later told me 'I had to love you as no one else would'. Luckily I have other assets that women seem to find attractive. Never short of a girlfriend or three. (A bit awkward at times.) On the other hand, my wife was gorgeous from the day that I met her when she was 21. I stole her from another bloke and travelled the world with her. She was gorgeous until the day that she died (55). I still love her today.😍

For goodness sake. That is a very 'myopic' view on things. Not many Thais read AseanNow. It is aimed at foreigners. ie people like you and me. Try reading the Thai press (and even a fair number of threads on AseanNow). I think that you will find more than one or two articles about Thais behaving badly. Usually killing each other.

Perhaps it is those noisy bars, with scantily dressed ladies and drunks that the devout Buddhists find upsetting on one of their more devout days?

Here on Samui, immigration accept the screenshot. The only form in my passport is the TM 90. -

Rising PM2.5 Levels Prompt Health Alert in Bangkok and Its Vicinity

PM2.5 - 4µg/m³. All good here on Koh Samui. 👍 Just avoid Bangkok. https://www.iqair.com/thailand/surat-thani/ko-samui -
What do I need to replace a damaged DL?
Tropicalevo replied to MrBiker's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
That last question is the million dollar one. Here on Samui, the TM 30 is accepted by most as proof of address - except the banks. Banks still demand the old form that the immigration office refuse to produce. I had to have a replacement licence some years back when I lost my wallet. All I needed was copy of the licence and my passport. The passport number was different (new passport) and they just changed it. Simple. As always in Thailand, different government offices might have different procedures. -

Construction tycoon jailed for poaching leaves prison
Tropicalevo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
That photo was from before he went to prison. Look at the photo in the BP for the 'after' photo. He looks pretty rough. Still fat though. Altogether, 484 convicts had their sentences commuted in this batch and 113 were released early. -
The suicide rate in Thailand is the highest in the region. It is not 'news' as you seem to want to call it, because it happens a lot. From the aseanpost And that is just Thais. More than 5,000 Thais commit suicide every year in the latest published figures that I could find. (2020) Thailand also has a large aged expat community. There are no official figures for suicides in this group, but maybe it becomes a consideration when looking at medical costs and more importantly 'quality of life'. Having watched my 38 year old son die slowly from brain tumours over a two and a half year period, 'quality of life' figures high in my 72 year old body. I am still active (sort of) and busy running a business, but I have a 'living will' (do not resuscitate order) registered with the local hospital and close friends also have a copy. For me, suicide is not a very high priority. But it could be plan C or plan D under different circumstances.

April International - some premium increase analysis
Tropicalevo replied to topt's topic in Insurance in Thailand
Thanks Sheryl. Good advice as always. April have suggested a 50% discount on my annual premium if I pay the first $1,500.
