  1. A very strange insult. 'Boomers' were smoking ganja before you were probably born. I suggest that you look up 1960/1970's news reels. It was quite popular during the Vietnam war.
  2. I am not aware of the brand of your phone, but over the years I have replaced batteries in a number of different phones. There are usually no issues with the new batteries. However, I suggest that you buy original manufacturer's batteries if they are still available. 'Copy' batteries are not as good and seem not to last very long. Going to an official store is a good move but they will want to sell you a new phone anyway.
  3. This is the same person who said 'But you still can’t smoke joints, minister says.
  4. It is solved. No more bottles.
  5. Please share with us their response to you when you tell them that little gem.
  6. And how many suppliers/bars/shops on Koh Tao do you know that will pay to ship their empties back to the mainland? Who collects it at the other end?
  7. Oh dear. Think about it please. You are comparing eggs to elephants. The supplier (rich businesses?) ship it in. The local government ship it out. If the residents of Koh Tao are anything like the residents on Koh Samui, then most of them do not pay the garbage collection taxes. That is why so many locals burn their garbage. The money has to come from somewhere.
  8. On Koh Tao. I doubt it. What good would that do? They still have to ship everything to the mainland. It is probably the shipping that is the bigger problem.
  9. GO BJ GO - and sort them out. It is good that someone in the RTP has decided that scams are a very serious business. It is sad that it took three deaths and an attempted suicide to make them see the light. RIP.
  10. It's looking pretty good from here on Samui. Big Full Moon Party on KPN tonight.
  11. Not many Somchais on Koh Tao. Mostly Burmese, foreigners living/working there and tourists. All garbage on Koh Tao (and the other nearby islands) has to be taken to the mainland by boat.
  12. Try selling that line to a mother whose kid has just stepped on glass from a broken bottle on the beach.
  13. Cans compact down. So it is easier to put them into garbage bags for the recycle collectors. Also, many more in a bag. The collectors that make a living from collecting the recycle items make more money than with glass bottles. (So they told me.) They prefer cans. Lighter to carry, easier to carry and do not break and cause damage. Broken bottles mixed up with the garbage are very nasty. The bottles only make money when they are in the original box and can be returned to the brewery. Again, so I was informed. Broken glass bottles are very dangerous pollution. Not all recycling places will take bottles. So they are not fully recyclable. They will all buy cans. These comments are based on living in Samui. All of our garbage is shipped to the mainland. Eventually.
  14. Great idea. I switched to cans years ago. Unfortunately, not all beers are available in cans. But bottles of single malt scotch whisky? Changing that is a no no.????
  15. If it offends you, then get a sign written in simplified Chinese for the mainland ones, and complex Chinese for the Cantonese speaking ones.
  16. Try InvadeIT. They sell desktops from the well known brands. Very good service from them and spot on delivery wise. I buy most of my PC related things from them. https://www.invadeit.co.th/category/desktop-pcs/
  17. It obviously depends on your interests, your budget and how long will you be in Thailand. A popular route for first time visitors is Bangkok - Samui - Chiang Mai - Bangkok. That involves flights and can be expensive. If you have your own transport, then pick a base and start from there. The weather in those locations is usually different in each location.
  18. Great for the rainy season. A real taste of Thailand.
  19. The problem with looking at just hotel occupancy is that it is not a true picture. Many tourists now book villas and AirBnb homes. We have been 80 - 90 % booked during July/August.
  20. Outgoing government did nothing to bring peace to the South. It just pushed it under the carpet.
  21. Liar, liar, pants on fire. Uncle Tu has no idea what an ordinary citizen is.
  22. Thais and others in SE Asia have been wearing masks since Noah was a lad and well before Covid had been discovered in bat poop. Mostly to do with pollution and coughs and flu. I have had friends here always wearing masks when riding their scooters. Covid just stopped them from standing out.
  23. Another lie sold to the people in order to get elected. That and the 10,000 baht vote buying. Surely PT should be arrested for all of the 'Fake News' spouted during their campaign.
  24. There could be bad news for tourists at the weekend and good news for residents that are relying on the daggy water delivered in water trucks. A couple of big storms forecast to arrive from Friday/Saturday. Whilst the storms often 'die out' before they hit Samui, these ones are forecast to last a few weeks. Hopefully topping up the aquifers. https://www.windguru.cz/30397
  25. Does this mean that there is now three tier pricing in National Parks. Thais ASEAN citizens Other foreigners
