I can confirm that the water divining method works. Drilling company came to my place, used the copper rods and said 'here'. They gave me a price and I said that I would call them. Next day I took two pieces of metal, bent the ends and tried it. It worked. I found two spots. One, the rods moved slightly. They said ' not much water or a long way down'. The second place the rods moved a lot. It was was there that they had suggested. Thinking that this was crazy (mumbo jumbo), I tried it on a couple of plots belonging to neighbours. I found the spot for the well both times - this was before we asked the drilling company.

Message for the OP. Do not make the move permanent at first. Come for a two month stay and look around the island. The island changes quickly. Lots of retirees here and still a relaxed lifestyle if you want it. Quite a few 'snowbirds' come here for 3 to 4 months in the European winter. If it doesn't work for you then you can easily go to the next place. phetphet's review is a good one and there are lots of other places to look at although Choengmon is my favourite beach area with lots of good restaurants. Plai Laem, Chaweng Noi, Lipa Noi etc etc The south and the west coasts are more quiet and not many tourists It is very much a 'village' life here but with supermarkets. (Including Waitrose.) 5 private International hospitals of varying quality. Insurance is a must. The government hospital has good doctors but long waits. Return flights to Bangkok are just under 5,000 baht each for residents. Similar prices to Phuket and to Pattaya. For the last 23 years I have been looking at this view. No regrets. Usually about 300 days of sunshine a year.

Most food delivery people that I see on the roads are looking at their phones as they ride. I am not saying that happened here but........ -

Public hearings underway for Koh Samui’s bridge-to-the-mainland
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Well, that will push up land prices for a while - in the areas where the bridge makes landfall. Then hopefully, it will go the same way as all of the other 'fantastic' projects for Koh Samui. ???? The ski slope The marina The second airport The cruise ship terminal -
Move Forward Convenes to Discuss Future Policies
Tropicalevo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The problem is that the MFP is the only party that has principals. They are trying to deliver what their voters wanted when they voted them in. Phua Thai just welcomed the party that were suing the PT leader for defamation. -
A 'sweaty' pillow in an unaired apartment will grow mold. My pillow is usually very wet with sweat in the morning. I even have to turn it over during the night. I sleep under a ceiling fan as I do not us a/c (it affects my breathing - COPD.) I then air the pillow in the sun the next day. (On my window sill.) If there is a strong wind, the pillow always falls inside the bedroom. I have no problem with mold. Every couple of months or so, I send the pillow to the laundry. I agree with the OP. The only thing to do with those pillows is to chuck them. Next time that you go away put your pillows in the laundry and pick them up when you return?

Pattaya motorbike operators told to monitor renters from Middle East
Tropicalevo replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Here on the islands, almost all rental companies keep a passport as a deposit. Do the rental people do the same in Pattaya? -
From the full story This was against the Pheu Thai Party leader Chonlanarn Srikaew. Not much of an 'olive branch'. More an Olive twig. The lawsuit can be made again once Anutin is deputy PM. Lo and behold. Chonlanarn Srikaew gets a criminal record and has to resign as PM. Well done Anutin. Stitched them up a treat.

Not a delicate question at all. Money will fix anything in Thailand (and many other countries). That is why the poor always suffer the most. Examples Two Thais scratching a living from the ground - literally. Picking mushrooms in a National Park - Gaol for a number of years. Yet A deputy PM hiding assets and 'borrowing' flashy expensive watches - nothing. An MP gaoled in Australia for drug running - still an MP. An American millionaire hired a hit man to kill a friend of mine in Bangkok. The American had fled back to the USA but he was caught and then extradited from the USA back to Thailand. He went to gaol - for a few months and was then let out. (He was extradited because the CIA wanted him gaoled here in Thailand. The CIA were at my friend's funeral.)

I disagree. I enjoy reading 'feel-good' stories now and again. They are rare in news items all over the world. Maybe read the whole article. It shows human love at all levels. Money for the grandchild's education from poor people with very limited resources. We need more of this in this woke, entitled world.

How Many Pubs Have You Been Banned From and Why?
Tropicalevo replied to Neeranam's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Not banned in any pubs in 58 years but I am banned from the Excelsior Hotel in Hong Kong. Took all of the staff there for Christmas lunch one year. Fixed price meal including free flow beer and wine. ???????? Next day they called my secretary and told her that i was banned. Apparently, we drank a lot and they lost a lot of money on the deal. ???? -

I have sympathy for anyone dying of cancer. The end date is never certain. My son was given 6 months to live but survived for two years. The end result is still the same though.
