  1. I hope that they find the poor little lad safe and well.
  2. As khunPer states, it is all about location. I bought land more than 20 years ago for 3 million baht per rai. My friends told me that I was stupid as most land on Samui was 1.5 million or less. There was no electricity or water and just a dirt track to the whole peninsular. About six years ago I sold one house and some land. The going rate then was 35 million per rai. Sorry, no idea about prices now.
  3. It is scary. The police can do nothing with your picture other than hope to see the cab one day.
  4. Forgot - there are three flights a week from Pnom Penh.
  5. Before Covid, 7 or 8 different airlines were flying into Koh Samui. International flights have been landing here for more than 20 years as far as I can remember. No direct long haul though. Still daily flights from Singapore with Hong Kong expected soon.
  6. Glad that the young lady found her way out OK. Things could have so easily gone wrong.
  7. Bikes are usually straight onto the next ferry. I have never had to wait.
  8. Oh joy. Minivans everywhere. At least the weather forecast is looking good for them. Oh well. Luckily I will be in Chiang Mai, ????????????
  9. From reading newspapers, this seems to be true in most countries.
  10. The drive was the one who died. He is not going to sue anyone.
  11. I do not know about Chiang Mai, but have you asked your accountant? My accountant does all of my work permit/visa/90 day reports etc.
  12. A sad case whatever the outcome. RIP khun Janthira.
  13. You can bet your last yuan that Xi will never publicly admit to having Covid. No way will he go into a quarantine hotel. And according to CCP Covid protocols, All people in contact with Lee should also quarantine. An interesting conundrum.
  14. The fiasco of showing this tainted world cup on free to air TV defies logic. Gambling is illegal. Millions of Thais watching world cup matches will gamble on them. Gambling would be drastically reduced if the matches were not shown.
  15. I disagree. I think that it just reflects the love and respect that the Thai people had for Rama 9 as opposed to anyone else.
  16. As khunPer states, many resorts have a minimum stay. Our villas are also busy during the FMP because most villa owners only ask for a 2 or 3 night minimum stay.
  17. Book as soon as you can. The islands are pretty full at the moment. This month 20,000 - 25,000 people at the FMP. November is supposed to be low season but we are full. I am told that KPN is also busy.
  18. So it is "please be well behaved for two days so that I look good to outsiders". After the conference you can be down-trodden peasants as before. This guy is unbelievable. "security officials have no intention to intimidate or infringe on the rights of people during the summit". Do not worry, we will still beat you up afterwards?
  19. Most people working on weekdays so there is a service on the Sunday.
  20. There will be a Remembrance Day Service at the Shakespeare pub, Plai Laem, Koh Samui today. Service starts 11.00. Please be there before 10.30. There is limited parking and so please park on the road and walk up the hill to the pub. Thank you
  21. I have a registered business and a 13 digit id number. My account was closed. The id number was rejected. It was the same for a couple of friends that also have registered businesses here.
  22. Speaking Thai does not solve that problem. My friend speaks, reads and writes pretty fluent Thai. He was stopped two days in a row by the same policeman for riding his bike with no helmet. The first day his excuse was that he was just going to the shop to buy one. Fail! The second day, the cop said 'you were going to buy a helmet'. My friend replied 'I was but you took my money'. Cop laughed and fined him again. This was all in Thai.
