I do not break the law either. That is why I gave them the UK address but I also informed them that I was living overseas. The bank have both my UK address and my overseas address and seem to handle that one well. New bank and credit cards go to the UK address and spam and circulars sometimes come to my Thai address. ????

I also told the pensions people that my main residence was based overseas, so whilst they see a UK address, I do not receive the UK additional benefits. (I do not really need a heating allowance ????)

Slightly off the main subject, but I broke even with solar in less than three years. (Thirteen panels.) BUT - I pay 8 baht per unit for electricity. I do not have batteries, just turn the meter back during the daylight hours. I run the pool from 09.00 to 17.00. Always clear. I usually only use a/c in the bedroom at night for a couple of hours during March and April. Fans on 24/7 - no a/c in the living area. Four fridges and three computers.

I have a UK address and phone number and my pension is paid into my UK bank account. I have lived here for over 20 years. I have never had to fill in a POL form.

If you donate at a government facility (clinic, hospital, blood drive etc) then the blood is treated the same as Thai donations - usually free. If you donate at a private hospital and it is used in emergency procedures, again, free. If it is used in after-care at a private hospital, then probably charged but I do not have evidence of that.

Minimum wage is 350 baht or thereabouts. 1,500 baht per day is pretty good. It's more than I pay my staff and they are paid well above the minimum wage.

Donating blood does save lives. The life that you save may be a loved one. I have donated blood (Rh-) all of my life and only stopped when I reached 70 years of age. Here on Samui I was registered at a couple of the hospitals and have been called out a few times over the years for an emergency donation.

I believe that the fact that almost all e-cigarettes, hookahs etc are imported (illegally), would make vaping illegal. ie using an illegal device.

And that is why there are so many private hospitals in Phuket. The hospitals love the money. Same here in Samui.

Maybe Governor Wichawut should come to Samui more often. That hospital is the sixth hospital on the island, Yes, Bangkok Airways built the airport (without help from the government), but Ii it still a monopoly if other airlines fly into Samui on a regular basis?

That is five private hospitals plus one government hospital.

The Chinese are coming to Samui. Chengdu Airlines lands today. That is the second non PG airline to grace our shores since Covid visited us. Also, an unscheduled flight landed at about 06.15 - 06.30. Do any of you know what that was about?

I changed the name on a m/b book last week by using copies of the passport and the work permit.

I have both and no known drawbacks (yet). Almost no one wants to see the id card - everyone still asks for copy passport. Id card name is a Thai translation - does not match bank account details etc. Id number on the card was not accepted as a valid id number when I tried to keep my Thai PayPal account open.
