Travelling from pattaya to Koh Samui
Tropicalevo replied to parafareno's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Guests arrived from Suratthani airport yesterday and the bus/ferry/bus price to the villa was 700 baht each one way. The journey took 5 hours. They also had to transfer in Bangkok to Don Muang. The trade off is money v's time and convenience. -
Safety for solo travellers in the Philippines
Tropicalevo replied to coralia's topic in Philippines General Chat
Good choice. The Philippines is a lovely country with some beautiful people but..... My wife never felt 'comfortable' there. You do not need hassle in your life. Anywhere else in SE Asia would be a better choice (apart from Burma at the moment). -

AirBnb host tells me they never make TM30
Tropicalevo replied to daejung's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The extensions are based on where you are registered. It also depends on the visa. The TM 30 is for a change of address. eg. I am registered at my home. When I go away for a break, I provide my details to the owner/manager of the temporary address for the TM 30. When I return home, I do not need to do the TM 30. I am already registered there. -

Once you are registered on-line, it takes less than 5 minutes. Send them to me and I will do them - for a price. (And I have a work permit. ????) Legally yes. But it seems that a number of people here are happy to operate illegally. -

Very true. And TM 30 is a legal requirement here in Thailand. From the Thai embassy - Just do a search "is the TM 30 a legal requirement in Thailand" -
AirBnb host tells me they never make TM30

Not true in many areas. It obviously varies by location. Here on Samui, there are lots of Airbnb places. Immigration go round every now and again, knocking on doors, checking for TM 30 and other 'misdemeanours'. The TM 30 is needed here on Samui for any visa extension. They often refuse to give it if you do not show up on the database. You will not be fined. The host will. Many hosts do not do it as they do not want to pay for villa licences, pay taxes, get work permits etc etc. -
Samui does not have one weather pattern. It can be 'cats and dogs' in one location but dry in others. Persistent rain yesterday. Some local flooding. Mostly gone when the tide abated. Lots of sunshine last week where I am. Windguru shows moderate rain at the moment, but nothing that I can see along the north coast. Looks like it might be raining over to the west. Tomorrow light rain in places. Back to normal Tuesday. I have found Windguru to be fairly accurate for a 4 - 5 day period. https://www.windguru.cz/30397

No. The owner/manager of the property should. If you do not have one - they get the fine. However, many hosts do not do it. -
Travelling from pattaya to Koh Samui
Tropicalevo replied to parafareno's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
This may come as a surprise to you, but flight prices are dynamic. They change according to demand. Cheapest flight BKK to USM is 2,160 baht. (Not many of them.) Cheapest flight UTP to USM is 2,410 baht (Less competition - charge more.) Guess what? The cheap flights disappear quickly. So book ASAP. Information comes from Bangkok Airways' web site and yes, Koh Samui is in Thailand. Try https://www.bangkokair.com/flight/booking -
Probate Procedure in Pattaya - The information that I could get
Tropicalevo replied to Mickeymaus's topic in Pattaya
One difference between Thai inheritance law and the UK is the rights of the spouse. The spouse does not automatically get everything in Thailand. When my wife died, I had to get letters from her parents and siblings stating that they did not want anything and to give it all to me. No big issue though. The lawyer will advise you exactly what you need. -
