Most climate models do not yet account for a new University of California, Riverside discovery: methane traps a great deal of heat in Earth’s atmosphere, but also creates cooling clouds that offset 30% of the heat. Greenhouse gases like methane create a kind of blanket in the atmosphere, trapping heat from Earth’s surface, called longwave energy, and preventing it from radiating out into space. This makes the planet hotter. READ MORE https://scitechdaily.com/climate-science-shock-methanes-unexpected-cooling-impact-unveiled/

Former Attorney General Bill Barr, once one of Donald Trump's most loyal defenders, said the investigation of classified documents could pose a real threat for the former president, even as he slammed a prosecutor's indictment of Trump in a separate probe last week. Barr said Trump played "games" with federal investigators as they sought to retrieve the documents from Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. Those games, Barr said on ABC's "This Week," could amount to obstruction of justice. "I think that's a serious potential case. I think they probably have some very good evidence there," Barr said. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2023/04/09/bill-barr-donald-trump-indictment-classified-documents/11631484002/

Anti-government conspiracies and some recent court wins have spurred a boom of interest in Covid litigation The hotel receptionist pointed me through a swish, maximalist lobby to a conference room, where a Saturday morning crowd buzzed around in business attire over coffee and pastry trays. A smiling blond woman appeared suddenly in front of me — right in front of me — and asked how she could help. Her black t-shirt said “Misinformation Superspreader.” Despite the message, she did point me in the right direction of the media registration table. In Shasta county, a conservative stronghold of 180,000 in the far north of blue California, a new vision for elections is taking shape: paper ballots, no machines and results tallied entirely by hand. It’s a vision predicated on the false belief that voting machines helped to steal the presidency from Donald Trump, and that the systems by which millions of Americans vote are unsafe. But in Shasta, they just might make that vision reality. Shasta became a hotbed for far-right politics in the pandemic years, and election deniers have found allies on the county’s governing body, the board of supervisors. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/apr/04/far-right-county-throws-out-voting-machines-with-nothing-to-replace-them

If there are no forthcoming suggestions based on experience then one method to research yourself is to first get a list of 4 or 5 results in Google for "Bangkok Private Detectives" Then head to the Way Back Machine Internet Archives: https://archive.org/web/ put the agency url in and see how many years back the agency has been established. That's a starting point for you to do some further research on them.

It's a question I'm confronted with once again, after Manchester Arena bomb survivors filed landmark legal action against a conspiracy theorist who claims the attack was faked. Martin and Eve Hibbert, who were left with severe disabilities after the 2017 blast, are suing Richard D Hall for defamation and harassment after he tracked down Eve and other survivors to see if they were lying about their injuries. It's the first time such action has been launched against a conspiracy theorist in the UK, his defiant response to the BBC investigation, and an initial letter from Mr Hibbert's legal team, suggests he is yet to change his position. Sasha, Katie and Ruby have been friends since primary school. They moved up to their secondary together and spend much of their free time in each other's company. Like other teenagers, messaging each other on social media comes naturally to them. But does this add to - or detract from - their friendship? New research has thrown up some welcome news for children and parents alike, many of whom worry about the amount of screen time young people have. READ MORE https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-64640734

A huge black hole is tearing through space, leaving behind a 200,000-light-year-long trail of newborn stars, space scientists say. Rampaging through the blackness and ploughing into gas clouds in its path, the supermassive monster is likely born of a bizarre game of intergalactic billiards. The incredible forces at play mean this gas is being forged into a contrail of new stars that have been captured on camera by NASA's powerful Hubble Space Telescope. In an unprecedented move, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk on Friday suspended the Food and Drug Administration's longtime approval of key abortion pill mifepristone, but gave the government a week to appeal his decision that could throw access to medication abortions into question nationwide. The FDA approved mifepristone more than 20 years ago to be used in combination with a second drug, misoprostol, to terminate pregnancies at up to 10 weeks. Over half of U.S. abortions are done by medication abortion, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a research group that supports abortion rights. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/abortion-pill-case-texas-judge-halts-access-mifepristone-rcna72117

On Friday, the New York Times reported that former president Donald Trump would be interested in hiring Laura Loomer, despite the concern of potential backlash. Staffers anticipated pushback because Loomer is a bigot. There is no other way to describe her. Loomer is not a political operative who is also known to be racist. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2023/04/laura-loomer-trump-racism-christchurch-islamophobia/

MSNBC Host Makes Matt Taibbi Squirm Over His ‘Twitter Files’ Errors Matt Taibbi, one of the journalists Elon Musk handpicked to disseminate the so-called Twitter Files, found himself flailing Thursday when confronted by MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan over the key errors in his reporting. At one point in the heated and lengthy interview, which spanned more than 20 minutes, Hasan brought up some glaring mistakes within Taibbi’s reporting on the supposed anti-conservative censorship and government interference that took place within Twitter prior to Musk’s purchase of the platform. Hasan continued: “You say they labeled 22 million tweets as misinformation in the run-up to the 2020 vote—they didn’t. They flagged 3,000 election misinformation tweets for labeling, so you were only 21,997,000 off.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/msnbc-host-mehdi-hasan-makes-matt-taibbi-squirm-over-his-twitter-files-errors

On Friday, one of Musk’s handpicked Twitter Files disseminators turned his back on the social media site. The Chief Twit, meanwhile, quickly unfollowed him. Matt Taibbi, one of Elon Musk’s handpicked disseminators of the so-called “Twitter Files,” informed his readers on Friday that he was ditching Twitter after the Chief Twit restricted links to Substack this week. On Friday, Twitter began preventing users from engaging with tweets that contained links to Substack articles, blocking any likes, retweets and comments from these posts. Additionally, users were unable to pin any tweets to the top of their profile if they included a Substack link. https://www.thedailybeast.com/twitter-files-reporter-matt-taibbi-bails-on-twitter-after-elon-musk-makes-it-unusable

A popular children’s book illustrator was arrested in Juneau, Alaska, on Sunday after allegedly posting anti-transgender notes threatening violence against children. On Friday, which was Transgender Day of Visibility, the Juneau Police Department received an early morning report about a note found in a local store that “indicated a possible general threat against children," according to a statement issued by the department, several hours later, police received a second report about a similar note found on a bulletin board in the State Office Building. The notes depicted an assault rifle displayed over the transgender flag, along with the words: “Feeling Cute Might Shoot Some Children,” according to court documents. https://news.yahoo.com/children-book-illustrator-arrested-alaska-000128198.html
