  2. New YorkCNN — News organizations have a message for Elon Musk: We are not going to pay you for checkmarks on Twitter. 6. UPDATE: After Trump indictment, Manhattan DA warns GOP allies against ‘baseless and inflammatory’ attacks The day after his historic indictment of Donald Trump, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg warned the former president’s House Republican allies to refrain from “unlawful political interference” with the criminal process. “Yesterday, the District Attorney of New York County filed charges against Donald Trump for violations of New York law,” the DA’s office General Counsel Leslie Dubeck wrote in a 6-page letter, adding in a footnote that Trump is presumed innocent of those charges until a jury finds otherwise. “The charges filed yesterday were brought by citizens of New York, doing their civic duty as members of a grand jury, who found probable cause to accuse Mr. Trump of having committed crimes in New York.” https://lawandcrime.com/trump/after-trump-indictment-manhattan-da-warns-gop-allies-against-baseless-and-inflammatory-attacks/

In The Hague, Vladimir Putin is facing an arrest warrant for war crimes, but at the UN, Russia is about to take charge of a powerful international body, the security council. From Saturday, it will be Russia’s turn to take up the monthly presidency of the 15-member council, in line with a rotation that has been unaffected by the Ukraine war. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/mar/31/absurdity-to-a-new-level-as-russia-takes-charge-of-un-security-council
  8. Interesting, the new version can be used for the more simple tasks in coding for computer games and such. Friend or foe: Can computer coders trust ChatGPT? "It felt like magic to me," says Pietro Schirano. "It scared me a little bit because it was so good." He's talking about the latest version of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool. You type something in, and it makes up a reply for you. It's uncanny how human, friendly and intelligent the responses seem. Underneath it is an AI model called GPT-4. Mr Schirano, design lead at business finance company Brex, has been using ChatGPT to make computer programs. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-65086798
  9. "We will never forgive": Zelensky marks one year since the liberation of Bucha “A symbol of the atrocities of the occupying country’s army. We will never forgive. We will punish every perpetrator." Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin said these were "horrifying figures" in a separate statement Friday. “That was the first time we all saw evidence of the unprecedented scale of the enemy's atrocities," he said. https://edition.cnn.com/europe/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-03-31-23/h_c9483c61dfd3f11311d79fc909f91cd5
  10. Oscar Pistorius faces a parole hearing that will decide if he will be freed from prison, a decade after he shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The former Olympic and Paralympic athlete, known as the Blade Runner, has applied for parole and could be freed from prison within weeks after serving half of his 13-year-five-month sentence. 11. Speculation is increasing that former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg may have turned on Donald Trump as he is no longer represented by lawyers paid for by the former president's company. Weisselberg, who is currently serving five months in the infamous Rikers Island jail in New York after pleading guilty to 15 felony counts relating to a tax evasion scheme carried out by The Trump Organization, is said to have parted ways with his lawyers, Nick Gravante and Mary Mulligan, WNBC reported. There are suggestions that Weisselberg could face further charges in connection to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office investigation into the hush money Trump allegedly asked his former attorney Michael Cohen to pay adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep an affair she allegedly had with the former president a secret ahead of the 2016 election. https://www.newsweek.com/allen-weisselberg-flip-donald-trump-lawyers-1791411
  12. Your tomato plant may be crying out for you to water it, but although other animals and plants might hear it, your human ears are deaf to the sound of its laments. That’s the finding of new research that captured the pops and clicks of stressed plants, which have been tuned down to the human hearing range. The novel experiment revealed that plants exposed to harmful pressures, such as injuries and dehydration, produce ultrasonic noises that may be audible to animals and plants as far as 16 feet away, in this way, plants may use sound to communicate with their wider ecosystems, a finding that sheds light on their mysterious inner worlds and could help mitigate agricultural challenges presented by climate change. https://www.vice.com/en/article/3aknn3/plants-make-sounds-when-hurt-scientists-confirm-and-now-you-can-hear-it

The team described its findings, published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, as "extremely exciting". Lead author Dr James Nightingale, of the Department of Physics at Durham University, said: "this particular black hole, which is roughly 30 billion times the mass of our sun, is one of the biggest ever detected and on the upper limit of how large we believe black holes can theoretically become, so it is an extremely exciting discovery." https://news.sky.com/story/ultramassive-black-hole-around-33-billion-times-the-mass-of-the-sun-discovered-by-uk-astronomers-12844649

Through the day, old and young, some in school uniform, gather to place flowers and stuffed toys at the school sign, they cry, embrace each other and wonder why this has happened here, in their affluent suburb of Nashville. There is anger, too, about America's gun laws. The shooter, Audrey Hale, was able to purchase seven guns legally from five local gun shops, three of them, including two automatic rifles, were used in Monday's shooting. https://news.sky.com/story/what-about-these-kids-right-to-life-tributes-for-nashvillle-victims-as-gun-control-debate-intensifies-12844605
