  1. No. Very different from Chagos, which were inhabited by indigenous people. That part of British history is not a proud moment.
  2. That is one government. Not successive. Also, as I pointed out earlier, your original post didn't give the full story. I believe, with no proof to back your claim, your original post is an unsubstantiated.
  3. If you wish to continue pre dating, the first recorded British landings at Falklands were actually in 1690. At that time they were uninhibited.
  4. The Crown are net contributors to the UK economy. They pay their way. Sure, publications will show that the "state" pays. However, where does the state get the funds from?
  5. Yes, I sm sure. The state "pays". However, the source of the funds is the Crown.
  6. Stolen? From whom? There are not and never have been indigenous Falkland Islanders. They were uninhabited when the Brits first landed in the 18th century. The only time Argentinians were expelled was in 1982.
  7. Some intelligence sharing, a few million gallons of aviation fuel and an unspecified amount of mortar shells. Hardly "significant military assistance".
  8. Actually, no. You are incorrect. The reason was an invasion by Argentina on to British sovereign soil. That invasion had to be repelled.
  9. I think you'll find it's because the Falkland Islanders are British citizens. They voted to remain as such by way of self determination
  10. Incorrect. When Argentina achieved independence from Spain, the Falklands were already under British control.
  11. Gate duty. I was told must be there at 7:30. Thai teachers turn up about 7:55. Must stay at school until 16:30. I'm the only one there. Must stay 2 weeks after students have gone for holidays. I'm the only one there. Can only be out of the office for 1 hour for lunch. About 3 of us there. This type of thing happened at many government schools I worked at across my 23 year teaching career. Private schools slightly different.
  12. Returned to Argentina? That's impossible. The Falklands have never been Argentinian.
  13. No. I am not referring to a quote I " partially and misleading quoted". I'm referring to the one I quoted in full. Do try to keep up before trying to undermine others.
  14. You fail to appreciate I made a statement about a post in relation to one poster. That poster responded, vaguely. When posters can't admit to what they posted and what it meant, at that time, I tend to leave them in their little world of denial.
