Finally getting serious about learning Thai — where to start
Hey, you still don't get it, do you? Just admit you messed up. It really is that simple. While you are doing that, say these words. Phase, Physics, Physical, alphabet, elephant, phonetic. Try it. You'll soon see your mistakes.

No. Everyone knows it's Roman alphabet, Arabic numerals. French, German, Spanish........all the same. You are talking bo%%x.

555555 "Ph" is used BUT it's still pronounced "F". Therefore, it's not the best choice. Unless you want to say Fasa Thai.

You are funny. So funny you can't see humour yourself. There is no set "science" to learning language, as has been proven by this thread. Your method is NOT the only way to succeed, as has been shown by this thread. One doesn't have to learn script, as has been shown by this thread.

Nice attempt but a fail. 55555 Arabic numbers. Roman alphabet. Did you know French, German (other languages of Germanic origin) and languages originating fron Latin have simplified "PH" to "F", although German does sometimes still use PH. It's not so much as ruling the world than a world rule.

Regardless of who has been here the longest or who speaks, reads or writes better Thai ( I moved to Thailand in 1998 and started learning on day one) it is English where you are making the mistake. "Ph" is "F". There are no two ways about it. Show any English speaker the word "Phassa" and they will pronounce it "Fassa". Simple.

I believe the pieman's name is Maurice.

No. Ph is not the most suitable. 99% of Ph in English is F. Most of the other 1% is V. It's not Fasa Thai. It's Pasa Thai. A double S makes next to no difference.

You appear to be overlooking the fact that "Ph" in English is predominately an "F" sound. Fassa Thai? 555

Learning a language is not science. That's your confusion. Stop confusing language with science and you may be able to snap out of your depression. 555

He actually said one should learn the script first. That is not accurate.

As has been substantiated by other commentators here, it's not the only way to learn to speak Thai. I also speak some Northern Khmer, for which there is no script. How did I manage that, if your way is the only way?

Yes, i know and agree.

If you are correct, how on earth does anyone learn to speak any language, including your mother tongue?

Correct. "Shirley" is a noun. Meaning "bright meadow". "Assuredly" is an adverb. As I previously explained. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/assuredly

"Assuredly" is not a noun. It's an adverb. Shirley means "bright meadow". And you are trying to advise on learning language? 5555

Me. I'm your evidence. I learnt bybthe immersion method. I went out and spoke with the locals. Shopping, drinking, eating, all in places where I needed to speak Thai. I didn't learn to read until 2 years later. Think about how you learnt to speak your mother tongue. Learning a second language is exactly the same.

Can Thailand stay an expat favourite under these new rules?
I know it was a dig. I find it funny that those that have never been to Isaan believe everyone is down and out. I know Thais in Isaan that spend more than 1.8m a year. Lots of expat that could, if they wanted to, but don't want or need to.

So, are you saying Isaan residents are tax exempt? That's very interesting. I'm sure it's likely to become an even more popular retirement destination.

A day of celebration in the UK
Yes, I am aware of who Axel is. I doubt many in USA or Isreal are celebrating.

A day of celebration in the UK
For the same reasons, his death would not be a reason for celebration.

A day of celebration in the UK
Two girls were brutally murdered. The murderer is now dead. That doesn't bring the girls back. There's nothing to celebrate

How to deal with illegals Entering the UK.
No. That's incorrect. They are not employed by us and we do not give them electric bikes. They work illegally, usually under false ID and working with organised gangs.
