  1. Head against a wall.????????????????. I guess it has been a long standing issue. That is what your doubters are saying. I would suggest the issue likely goes way past 13 years ago. No one has posted a link to show the issue started exactly at that time. The issues probably started when the previous government was in power. Why didn't they sort it?
  2. Mine too. Hence my post about what obstacles the UK's immigration policies are facing.
  3. I would have thought Redbottles would be more your thing.
  4. I've just pictured a beach scene with Corby in his speedos and Abbot in a slinky 2 piece. That's an image I need to get out of my head very quickly. ????????????
  5. Exactly right. I'm glad you agree that there are outside influences getting in the way of the UK governments attempts to control immigration. I'm happy to agree with you on that. It's a shame the laws appear to be a blanket law covering all arrivals and not just those seeking legitimate refuge. Seems the next government will also have the same issues. I'll look forward to your comments on that at a later date.
  6. None whatsoever? I think you should read up on UNHCR and ECHR.
  7. That's so funny I just spat my coffee out. Nothing to do with human rights groups, UN, the High Court? I'm off to get another coffee.
  8. They have failed in attempts to halt illegal immigration because of opposition to their plans. If, those opposing would simply say "Ok. Those arriving are not from war torn countries can be sent straight back", that would immediately reduce illegal immigration by 42%. As per the figures quoted and substantiated by the link.
  9. The problem with that is, currently 42% of those arriving by boat are not fleeing war or persecution. In addition, 95% of Albanians arriving are male. I didn't know females are immune to war and persecution. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/factsheet-small-boat-crossings-since-july-2022/factsheet-small-boat-crossings-since-july-2022
  10. Was Germany not Nazi in the 1930s? I seem to remember something significant happening in that decade.
  11. Incorrect. You need a tax return to renew work permit too, so there's no avoiding it.
  12. Then she is misled. There is a vast difference between attempting to defend one's own borders and save lives and attempting to cross borders and invade other countries. Is there a direct correlation between the UKs immigration policies and Putin's current regime? No. I didn't think so.
  13. No. I used the word " qualify". There is advice on who qualifies sent with the form. In my local area there is an ex bank manager and an ex aircraft engineer that qualify.
  14. The issue of free speech was never the real issue. The comparison was the issue. I like Gary. He was a great footballer, he is a great presenter. He has his own beliefs to which he is entitled. He's also, in my opinion, entitled to air them. His comparison to 1930s Germany was, however, wide of the mark. He could and should have used a different option in which to make his case.
  15. Some of the posters on hear seem to assume it has to be a Thai who signs. There are many expats in the community that qualify as a signatory.
  16. McDonalds workers get 300 baht a day. Working everyday that only equates to between 8400 and 9300 baht a month. Long days too. My final salary, back in 2017, was 35000.
  17. There is a fundamental difference between bickering and offering details from personal experiences. I thought you would know that.
  18. I agree. You virtually mirrored what I've said. With the exception of the bar stool punter and school of education. I don't understand that bit.
  19. We are going around in circles here. Unless one studied a degree in Thailand, there is no advantage when walking into a Thai school classroom for the first time. When I've mentored new teachers in the past they have looked on in shock and even horror at many of the things they've seen and been told. To the point that one lasted only 2 days. They spent the remaining time of their B visa on the beaches in Chonburi and Cha am.
  20. I agree to an extent. However, every level of certification you quote will still walk into a Thai classroom with no experience. Even those with a Tefl have never really walked into a classroom with no safety net. I was involved in recruitment at a private school in Thailand. Had the laws allowed, I would have taken a teacher with 10 years experience with no degree, a good CV and references, above a BEd or MEd holder just off the plane every day of the week.
