  1. All that is missing from those state-of-the-art school buildings in Sangkhlaburi is a tablet computer for EACH kid. cheesy.gif

    "The Thailand Hill Tribes Education Project is presently embarking upon a project to construct a classroom/general purpose room at the primary school in Ban Huay Plakang, Mae Sariang District, Chiang Mai Province. Since there is no electricity in the entire village, a generator will also be provided which will be shared with the whole community"

    We already have tablets and soon we will have electricity too. LOL.

    No, you have completely missed the point - Buchholz had decided he would provide examples of schools without electricity which would not get tablets because they did not have electricity.

    I pointed out that these schools did indeed have electricity or would do so very soon - therefore showing that his examples were poorly thought out. Not only that but they were not even government schools in the first place. So basically he didn't provide a good argument for his case.

    You seem to find it amusing that kids learn in those enviroments? Why not? All they need is shade, teachers and a will, why should they be denied a tablet.

    They are no less intelligent because they learn at a school with a palm roof.

    Bla bla bla. Jumping from one assumtion into another one... so typical you.

    My point was: why spend a lot of money on computers if you don't have the BASICS in place to provide some BASIC education?

    "You seem to find it amusing that kids learn in those enviroments?"

    This sentence just shows what kind of a crooked dark mind you have!

  2. I have kids in public school:smalish NkhonNowhere town,3000 pupils,among Thai staff - half a dozen of foreign teachers,comp.lab,school wi-fi network,town has fm station,asphalt streets,running water everywhere.I have been in plenty of places in Thailand and I have to admit with shame - I have not seen any place without electricity.
    a couple of examples:photo-790046b.jpgThai school with no electricity in Sangkhlaburihttp://abroadwithrob...angklaburi.htmlThailand_Hill_tribes_educat.jpgThai school with no electricity in Mae Sarianghttp://www.bangkokst...on_Project.htmlBut upon further reading, the whole aspect is apparently moot.The students in those schools that don't have the infrastructure already in place, eg. electricity, won't be receiving their tablet computer in the first place. Schools without electricity or adequate facilities to support tablet use in classrooms (e.g., electrical outlets and televisions), or whose teachers are unable to make use of such technological tools, will not be eligible to receive the tabletshttp://www.nationmul...e-30174293.htmlThe education of those students will just have to wait..

    Just thought I'd have a glance at the example of a school
    without electricity
    link you provided bucholz.

    Interesting place, it's called colloquially, "the bamboo school", for fairly obvious reasons. Seems to be run by a Christian group now but it was started by a local thai lady. Here's another picture

    photo-700160.JPG

    Wait a minute, what are those long white tube things on the roof, surely they can't be......... Anyway the school is quite resourceful for a school without electricity as they have a night school as well that teaches myanmar children who work during the day. Here's a pic.

    photo-712358.JPG

    Oh, well, anyway......

    All pictures of the Bamboo School courtesy of the link bucholz provided -

    Oh and the second link to a school without electricity, The Ban Huay School has this to say in the link provided

    Can't be right all the time I suppose.

  3. We all know this taxpayers’ rip off was just a promise to get votes

    European countries don't implement computers for kids in schools because they are not ready yet for numerous reasons also mentioned in this thread.

    A developing country like Thailand is ready....

    And then there are people defending it here......funny. They never read any reports on this? There are so many around. Do some research guys.

  4. That's handy. Just send your personal DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL INVESTIGATION team if you need help. Let me guess what the result of their "investigation" will be......bah.gif

    The Shins are making good use of their friends at the DSI.

    Tharit, how about the investigation into the MIB/ Any progress?

    Who is the real Tharit? Let’s find out.

    This is what he said in July 2010 when a mib called Surachai was arrested on his recommendation.

    DSI Director general Tharit Phengdit said that from an initial investigation Surachai is found to be involved with 8 criminal cases, most (or all) of them are related to the MiB.

    These 8 cases include:

    1) the firing of an M79 into the 11th Infantry Regiment on January 28, 2010;

    2) the firing of grenades during the incidents at Kok Wua intersection on April 10, 2010, which caused 5 deaths of soldiers (including that of Col Romklao);

    3) the firing into the oil depot at Prathum Thani on April 21, 2010;

    4) the firing of an M79 into the BTS station at Sala-Daeng on April 22, 2010, which caused 2 deaths and 78 injuries;

    5) the firing of an RPG into Dusit-Thani Hotel on May 17, 2010 (note: according to Matichon, Tharit was quoted as stating that Surachai admitted that he fired a Travo gun into Dusit-Thani because he believed that the shot at Sae-Daeng was fired from the hotel);

    6) the firing attack into the police flat at Lumpini Police Station on May 19, 2010, causing deaths and injuries of police officers and their families;

    7) the firing of an M16 on police officers and soldiers in front of the Krung Thai Bank, Sala-Daeng Branch, on May 7, 2010, which caused 1 death and 2 injuries of policemen;

    8) the firing into the UCL (อื้อ จื่อ เหลียง) building on May 14, 2010, causing 1 deaths and 4 injuries of police officers (see Thairath).

    Any progress MR. Tharit? Or are you too busy serving your paymaster?

  5. From the OP

    Former defence minister General Prawit Wongsuwan announced assets worth Bt 79.063 million, recording a sharp increase from the Bt 9.39 million he declared a year ago.

    A sharp increase, I'd say,
    about Bt 70 million in sharp increase
    in fact. Possibly no link with Abhisits last bumper budget which gave the armed forces
    170.2 Billion Baht
    , of course not that you'd be able to check it out when

    only given five minutes to scan the entire document, which was provided by Democrat MP Suwaroj Palang during a parliamentary deliberation on the defence budget.

    The Phea Thai MP (Preechaphon Pongpanich - Ed.) also cast doubt over the purchase of 12 Grippen jets at the combined price of Bt35 billion, whereas the 24 Grippens bought by Romania only cost Bt50 billion. In other words, Thailand paid nearly Bt 3 billion per jet, while Romania paid slightly over Bt 2 billion per unit.

    "In addition, there were irregularities in the procurement of 16 helicopters, which resulted in a lawsuit by companies that were left at a disadvantage," he said.

    In response, Democrat MP Suwaroj said the defence budget document carried some classified information, so access was restricted.

    http://www.nationmul...t-30136241.html

    "Access was restricted". That was handy wasn't it?

    Peanuts compared to the rice buying/selling scam (where access is resticted too). Also very handyclap2.gif.

  6. Cleopatra might have to deal with accountability (after 1 year in office).

    That's democracy for you!! Like it or not.

    Will she collapse?

    Will she start crying?

    Will she be absent because she has to inspect.....uhhh....something very urgent?

    Will she call for numerous timeouts in order to call her brother?

    Will she let others do the talking for her?

    Will she say 90% of the time: “you have to ask the relevant department, I don’t know any details”?

    Exciting times!!

  7. Nice front end (ZX10R forks and GSXR750 calipers)

    Nice rear end too (Versys swing arm and Ohlins shock)

    Nice bike.

    Hey BP Racing in Pattaya now does Leo Vince exhausts.

    The underbody one is 20k and the full system is 33k.

    Hopefully meaning that the front end (down pipes) are 13k???

    I've started saving.

    I've ordered a new rear seat and black rear sets as there is a certain young female who wants to go on the back. (She must be mad!)

    AP Shop and Kawasaki are the people I'm using but past performace with Kawasaki ought to result in a year long wait for the seat!!!

    Keep those rain clouds away

    Mate, i would try and steer clear of Bangkok this weekend. Monsoon rainfall has been forecasted for 90% of the capital all day Saturday. The past 5 days has pretty much been the same, plenty of flash floods here recently and i've been riding to work in water as deep as a foot in the lowest areas.... sad.png

    Might go to Pattaya then to meet Norm.

  8. Are you seriously using the word of Chalerm to add veracity? I think his word does the opposite.

    Who would you rather have back up the words of Yingluck, herself, a person who was in the meeting with her or do you have someone else in mind?

    You are still arguing that you can believe Chalerm on his word? cheesy.gif .

    So can I now expect you not to make any further comment on Chalerm as you
    know
    that every word he speaks is a lie as does Yingluck, seeing as they agree on the same statement. That will make any further statement they make, a lie and therefore not worthy of comment. I shall look forward to your self imposed silence over these two. Any chance of an agreement on Thaksin as well because you
    know
    everything he says is a lie too.

    "Any chance of an agreement on Thaksin as well because you know everything he says is a lie too".

    Correction: I know that almost everything he says is a lie.

    You are still arguing that you can believe Chalerm on his word. cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

  9. Well it appears Chalerm says thats what happened as well.

  10. A rather infamous ministry... here's a sample of a couple of them...with the likes of Arisaman connected...

    indicted eight individuals for corruption relating to 1.2 Billion Baht in kickbacks over construction of the Ua Athorn housing project.

    They included former Social Development and Human Security Minister Watana Muangsook, his aide Mana Wongpipat, and former MP Arisman Pongruangrong.

    A joint committee of the National Anti-Corruption Commission and public prosecutors agreed Wednesday to file corruption charges against former Social Development and Human Security Minister Watana Muangsook.

    NACC Spokesman Klanarong Chanthik said the joint committee agreed to sue Watana in the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Political Office Holders on charges that he had demanded kickbacks from bidders of the Ua Arthorn housing projects for the low-income people.

    ==========================================================================

    Social Development and Human Security Minister Sutha Chansaeng decided to resign from the post, effective immediately, Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej told reporters Thursday. Secretary of Sutha, Anake Hutankabodi, said Sutha resigned because he is not healthy.

    He is being probed following reports that he did not hold a bachelor's degree, as stipulated in the constitution for a cabinet minister.

    He is also accused of refusing to report assets and debts of illegitimate children to the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) as required by law.

    Do you have special dispensation for not providing links to your posts?

    Buchholz is just summarizing what we have all seen and heard.

    Instead of questioning facts, why don't you question your corrupt red heroes? You clearly don't mind that they steal from the people.

    I believe facts are facts when I see where they come from and in what context. If you wish to have Bucholz formulating your thought process, fair enough.

    I like to think for myself. Do you have the facts to hand about the "reported" incidents above, any follow up?

    It seems as if you have problems with people having a different opinion to yourself, you do understand how debate works , right?

    Keep up the good work supporting corrupt politicians and have a nice day.
