  1. I see lot sof things passing here, but for this I am going to respond. My daughter has also a One Tabler Per Child because she is in Grade 1. All her friends in G1 had their parents coming to school and all had to sign and after that all tablets went home. I have looked at it, and the battery lasts for 3 or 4 hours but as far as I know that's normal for tablets (sorry when I am wrong, I am not a tablet expert). The only problem I have is that for installing an apps I need to have installed google store but to do this I am asked to give a password. The director of the school told me that the goverment will soon have a meeting with school in this region for questions etc. My question will be about this password.

The educational games that are on it come in handy now for this agegroup, but when this tablet lasts longer we have to update some of it, and I guess for this a password is needed too.

I have seen loads of advertisements about tablets and around 4,000 baht you can already buy a good one (the Google made tablet is around this price). And I have so far no real complaints about this OTPC from the Thai goverment.

I am sorry to say, but I think some of you guys grab all the news to spread out your negative opinions. But don't blame the goverment for everything that goes wrong in your own life. When your wife is a bad cook don't complain at the shop where she bought the material.

It seems that you still have some questions unanswered concerning these tablets. I assume that you can handle those questions because you have experience using computers. Not all kids have parents who know how to use a computer or can help their child when needed.

What if this tablet would be the first computer the family has ever used/owned? Then the learning curve would be very steep I guess. And the help the parent could give would be very limited.

What if the legal government does illegal things?

Remember that if you are elected it doesn't mean you can create your own laws and start treating the country as if it was yours.

Actually thats exactly what being elected means. Not that fevered nonsense of yours about "
treating the country as if it was yours
". No, the bit about making laws . Thats why parliamentarians are known as lawmakers, that's what they do. They discuss laws between the parties through three readings and if a majority vote for them and the King approves, they become law.

That was the way, until quite recently when the democrat party plus their yellow shirt supporters starting getting up themselves and encouraged the constitution court to get involved by invoking an unecessary Section 68 claim. Now it seems as if the constitution court make the laws.

Who are you trying to convince? It is so obvious that the amendments PT is going for will only benefit a few.

I have been around long enough to understand how things work here. Your theory might work in the UK but not here.

There are enough cases of misuse of power and changing laws for personal benefits. Thailand is still a very corrupt country and politicians are not as innocent as you might want me to believe, to say the least.

I didn't say "legally elected government", I said "legal government".

    Sent from my HTC phone.

  4. I tell you now that within 2-3 years this tablet thing is cancelled. Let's see.

Looking back through Thai political history you're quite probably correct. I sincerely doubt that this Government will get the chance to actually see any of it's schemes through before being usurped.

Of course that's got beggar all to do with my post or the discussion here but hey, I'm getting used to you running off on tangents!

Let's stick to the tablet scam. Are you saying that it will be the opposition’s fault if the scam gets cancelled?

Nobody could successfully implement this major scheme in a short period without proper preparation. Just doing what you have promised doesn’t deserve credit when it costs the taxpayers billions of baht.

Why is Yingluck constantly travelling the world with a plane full of business owners and executives? Correct "creating" business opportunities...

Why is she not spending more time on improving education? Correct, no short-time political gain can be achieved.

What all parties can do very well is promise and spend. Is that the correct way to educate your children??

  5. No doubt this will add to the pain and somehow be denied...........

83 % of those polled want the PM to continue.

    http://asiancorrespo.../bangkokpundit/

    http://asiancorrespo...uck-government/

Q2: Political strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats between Puea Thai and the Democrats

    Microsoft Excel

BP: This isn’t good for the Democrats.

Q3: Should Yingluck be given the opportunity to continue to work (ควรให้โอกาสนายกรัฐมนตรียิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตรทำงานต่อไ)?

    1. Yes, she should have the opportunity to continue to work (ควรให้โอกาสทำงานต่อไป), 83.6%

    2. No, she should not have the opportunity (ไม่ควรให้โอกาส), 16.4%

Q4: What period of time would you support the current government under Yingluck to continue working (ช่วงเวลาที่สนับสนุนให้รัฐบาลชุดปัจจุบันภายใต้การนำของ นางสาวยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร ทำงานต่อไป)?

    1. Less than 6 months, 14.7%

    2. 6-12 months, 10%

    3. 1-2 years, 20.1%

    4. More than 2 years until the end of its term, 55.2%

It's good that people understand that a legal government should be able to see out it's term. Beats having riots and gun toting protesters in the streets trying to overthrow it.

Another sterling piece of anti propaganda from the Nation. A distinct lack of facts and a lot of speculative waffle. Nice to see the usual political neigh sayers have jumped on this thread to voice their outrage over a complete non article!

I'm sure there's a real risk of electrical shock from a LV DC charger... far greater potential for electrocution than your average Thai shop/ restaurant with "professionally" twisted and taped mains joints open to the elements! A LV DC charger would not pass mains voltage to the device, it's virtually impossible - that's from someone with a degree in electronics and 15+ years professional experience. I have never seen it happen or heard of it happen.

Given the incredibly poor state of Thai electrical installations generally the tablets would be the last of my concerns for my children getting electrocuted at school... far more likely to get juiced by a mains device with no/ poor earth or a miss-wired 3 phase install; Thai "electricians" commonly neglect to wire an earth and then put devices on different phases within touching distance giving you the potential for a fatal shock.

    http://www.thaivisa....ed-at-hospital/

One of many electrocutions that happen in Thailand... with mains voltage devices!

Still defending this tablet thing. It was implemented to get votes. You still don't get it..

Even when the tablet program is cancelled and the tablets are recycled, you will most probably still be defending it.

Still favouring blanket disapproval based on political leanings rather than actually addressing any perceived issues with the scheme based on factual information and rational discussion... what a surprise!

Clearly you haven't actually read my previous posts on the subject where I categorically state that I believe the initial conception of the scheme was a popular vote buying tactic. I'm afraid this is part and parcel of politics these days, perhaps you'd prefer a military dictatorship? "No more taxes"... at least these guys appear to be trying to follow through with their promises...

It's like criticising an athlete for winning a race because they trained, studied their opponents and prepared for the race while your favoured runner just turned up and assumed that in the event he lost his connections would rig the results and forcibly remove the actual winner...

I tell you now that within 2-3 years this tablet thing is cancelled. Let's see.

  7. tulsathit RT @Phil_kttv:

Korn describes rice pledging as worst government policy ever.

"For every 100bt, only 30bt reaches farmers"

    http://nationmultimedia.com/

Did he go on to explain the billions that went to the fertiliser manufacturers and did not increase the farmer profit one baht, but just maintained the same low margins......he should know plenty about this democrat methodology...yes?

Instead of hitting the "But the Democrats..." key, why don't you try to defend this PTP/Thaksin policy?

Remember. The government can't reveal how much they have sold and for what price. It is a secret.

They claim that the issue of selling rice is sensitive. whistling.gif

The big question remains, how can anybody defend the scam if the public is kept in the dark?

Come on 473ego, give it a try.

  8. I think I know how the poor lady must feel…. I have also been in a situation (in University) where I had presented something by just reading copied text. In other words, I had no clue what I was talking about. Very embarrassing…

    You still don't.smile.png

    Why not?

I would imagine it is becaue you know nothing about Thailand but I'm not sure.

As a start, try to understand your own shortcomings and slowly people will respect you for what you are but I am not sure.

    Don't give up.

  10. How is it as clear as crystal? I notice that the majority of posters on here repeat that mantra but ignore what happened last time the newspapers predicted a cabinet reshuffle at the orders of her supposed "boss" brother.

This when the banned members of the TRT were allowed to enter politics again after that ridiculous ban. Remember. Of course you do , you were all predicting Yingluck would roll over and have the ex-TRT members foisted on her. Did it happen, No.

So, lets see what happens this time

    "ridiculous ban"

Sorry but I can't agree, the idea of banning party-executives from politics for a few years, to try to reduce political-corruption, is a laudable (if perhaps doomed) step in the right direction, especially when it is aimed at more-than one party.

Surely you must support any attempt to straighten-out the twisted politics here ? Why ever would anyone not support that ?

Incidentally might one say how lucky I feel, that since phiphidon was banned while I was away traveling, a new member with the same style & mannerisms & political-platform has emerged, to carry forward his posting-banner ? Are you perhaps related, or a clone, of the former TV-member ?

I have no problem with the banning per se of the executive if they were aware of the offense. I cannot agree however with the banning of the whole party - that I think is extremely harsh and plays into the power politics of the Democrat Party who seemingly cannot win an election through the ballot box.

As for your allegation you may wish to rethink. Whoever phiphidpn was and when he was banned has nothing to do with me.

Do you honestly find it that hard to believe that there
may be more than a few people
that disagree with your viewpoint on politics in Thailand. An arrogant attitude if I may say so, but to be expected on a forum where it seems one is not welcome to differ from the "herd".

"As for your allegation you may wish to rethink. Whoever phiphidpn was and when he was banned has nothing to do with me".

Didn't you confirm in another thread that you were in fact PPD?

since you remain silent on the subject

  11. There are a dozen major corruption cases with Thaksin at the center of it. Most of them are a result of abuse of power when he was the Role Model Leader of a Country.

There are 6 arrest warrants outstanding for Thaksin.

There are still people here on TV that are trying to "convince" us that Thaksin hasn't done anything wrong.

Who are they trying to fool one might wonder..

  12. Wow, did someone put broken glass in your cornflakes.

The amount of money that has been spent so far could have put a desktop PC and large screen projector into every classroom, every classroom in every school, that would have been beneficial for every child and every teacher, and would have also high-lighted the deficiencies in some schools, but that wouldn't have looked quite so good on an election poster would it.

This election promise was ill-conceived and continues to be badly implemented.

Shame that point scoring between political parties/ supporters seems to be the main attraction to posters here.

    Yes, isn't it.

edit//this post was directed at the post before the last one.

i wonder why the electrical brigade aren't sticking it up you like they have to others previously. Need power to all the schools they cry. Do that before the tablets they cry. Perhaps the prices you quote are for solar powered computers and projectors.

  13. Of course if any previous administration had cared one iota about raising the standards of education in the more remote areas, we wouldn't still have schools without wifi/ electricity; dam_n PTT for bringing education to the forefront!!!

There hasn't been a single administration that has cared one jot about education standards, not even the MoE care.

This handing out Tab Pc's promise was nothing more than a vote buying exercise, and it worked, well done.

And now you try to claim that it has shown some holes in previous administrations, please, get real, a good by product of a failed experiment is still only a by product, and earns no brownie points at all.

"And now you try to claim that it has shown some holes in previous administrations, please, get real, a good by product of a failed experiment is still only a by product, and earns no brownie points at all."

Strange isn't it? I have also tried to explain to Fer that those billions PT is wasting on tablets (vote buying) could have been spend much better. He still believes that ONLY because PT is "trying" to implement this tablet scam, they now know that the schools infrastructures are not up to standard and have to be improved.

PT should get credit for bringing these infrastructure issues to light….crazy.gif

I'd hoped you might be able to actually read and comprehend what I have written here. Evidently you can not. Shame.

Not many seem to comprehend what you have been trying to write the last couple of days.

  14. I wonder if she avoids sessions of parliament and commenting on major issues because she's been told to remain quiet or because she really is incapable of leadership?

One thing is as clear as crystal and that is that she is most definatelt NOT in charge at present.

Personally I doubt that she really would want to be or that she has even the remotest capability of real leadership!

  17. A great leader is one who surrounds themselves with stellar people in important post. A leader who cannot find anyone to delegate to has a growing festering problem. When one surrounds themselves with lackies, incompetents, go fors, and hacks they are not a real leader and continue to build a weak, corrupt, house of cards.

So who are you referring to?

Aahh, you don't know how to recognize a great leader. That explains a lot.
