  1. I'm not talking about the random scumbag shoving a massage parlor brochure in my face or some taxi trying to get me to an expensive seafood place or some other ripoff joint.

I'm concerned about the thousands of professional employed scammers(working with protection) posted around Bangkok near every tourist site, scammers in uniform at the International Airport...they are everywhere.

Like I said... A good example of what is happening is right at the Erawan Shrine.

There is an organized 'team' of scammers there right now.... Yes, the same people in the photos that I sent to the Tourist Police last June, still working full time, lieing to visitors. http://www.flickr.com/photos/21533131@N06/

Why is it allowed to continue? Many speculate the Tourist Police are involved with the scamming. Imagine that.

I also have sen them at the Erawan Shrine they approach innocent people and pass them self off as managers of the shopping complex hapenned to me a few times recently.

Many people get scammed so It is nice to see that you are trying to advise people to look out your thread or something simmilar should be pinned any one who says these things are one offs are on another planet.

  2. For westerners that live in Thailand for a long time, their views change, the opportunity to meet people outside of entertainment areas increase also.

For westerners who are here for a 3 week holiday in Pattaya the chances of meeting a Thai woman other than one from the entertainment areas are small, understand that Thai women also don't want a relationship with a western man who will not be back till next year, so bargirls will be great companion for the westerner whilst here on his holiday, and if he falls in love then that's great for him, many people here seem to think love is something that only happens between people who follow certain rules, it matters not to the people in love.

Yet, many westen men will come to Thailand on holiday and fall in love, I don't think it's bad, I find it cute. And good luck to the people involved, many westerners may be unhappy in their own countries because they are lonely, they can go to poorer countries and attract a partner because of financial security, no different to an old movie star having a 19 year old model girlfriend in Hollywood. Everyone is after something in a relationship, wether it's financial security, a house, sex, trophy wife, gifts, travel, or even love.

Many westerners meet bargirls and good luck to both of them people, they will need good luck, as ALL marriages have a chance of ending in divorce, whatever country or background, look at stats for western countries, high divorce rate, no bargirls in sight, still high marriage failure.

If you can find someone you truley love, you won't care if they are rich or poor, bargirl or nurse, asian or western, you will be in love and won't care either way.

Better to love than not love at all.

Good Post ,I don't discriminate about what work a person has done before it is between the couple and good luck to them if they can have a long and successful relationship unfortunately the odds of having one are not good if you jump in without caution or research.

  3. A thug.

Bad for tourism. Like he cares.

Probably one of the people looting valuables from the tsunami victims.

I don't go to Phukett and his transport business is the sole reason.

I don't know why people get so hung up over the tuk tuk's. Hire a car for 900 Baht a day and travel to anywhere you like in Phuket. This is a hassle free, effective and affordable option.

    Cheers, Rick

Not every person has a motorbike or car licence and I would suggest a large percentage would no want to hire a bike or car while on holiday.

I agree with you its so corrupt I stay away also other places in Thailand seem to cope with lower prices why cant Phuket , because they want to charge prices that Japanese are willing to pay.

  5. Unlocked iPhones On Sale Through Apple Australia Site

By Angus Kidman on July 2, 2009 at 12:00 PM

Most carriers want to tie you in to a plan if you want to buy an iPhone, but if you don’t fancy signing up Apple has made the task somewhat simpler by offering unlocked iPhones via its online store.

At $719 for an 8GB 3G, $879 for the 16GB 3GS and $1040 for the 32GB model, the pricing is better than the outright buy deals on offer from carriers. Apart from the obvious advantage Nick at Gizmodo points out — you can buy a phone in your pyjamas (or even naked if that’s your thing) — it’s a useful option for the large swathes of the population who aren’t within reach of one of Apple’s five retail stores.
