1.
Good news! There is a simple solution to this drug problem. We can legalize all drugs and then regulate them in the same way we do other drugs such as alcohol and tobacco. By doing this, we remove the profit motive so that the smugglers, dealers, and street sellers will all have to find other forms of employment. The savings on law enforcement costs will enable proper treatment for those with drug abuse issues--with loads of money left over.

Don't believe me, though. I'm just a guy on the Internet. See what the LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition) experts have to say about it. These are former drug warriors who understand that Drug Prohibition is the cause of the problem and NOT the solution.
Absolutely TRUE! People who want to use drugs, use them anyway, legal or illegal.

Better to sell them in (coffee)shops, and let the government tax it. The savings in police, prisons, and the juridical system are UNbelievable...

BTW, I do not believe for ONE second that Nepali bring in marijuana. Hasjish I can believe... Ever tried to get marijuana in Nepal?!? Impossible, only chardas :-)

  2. If he could stitch them for 140 maybe he could have taken a couple only without them noticing, still would have lived the good life.

hile I do not know the guy, or the details of the case, something just doesn't ring true here. Unless the company concerned lacked even the most basic financial controls (a possibility I know - it is an Arab company), cash movements cannot take place (even salaries) without a series of checks and counter-signatures. And how did the money exit? In cash? Unlikely. That means that it would have to be paid into bank accounts in the names of the "workers" - and opening a bank account in the UAE requires documentation including passport, residence visa and work permit etc. Although the money certainly went walkabout, I am wondering whether it is just possible that he is being set up as the fall guy for someone rather more senior (and professional).

He seems to have enough money to travel extensively and to spend a lot of time in the Red light district in Bangkok. From my information. "they're only doing calls for cash....Money for nothing and your chicks (not) for free." Dire Straits

If he had really stolen (if he is a thief at all that is) as much as $150mn then what would he be doing hanging around Nana? $150k maybe but if I had made off with real money like that I would be a lot further away, and would have spent some of the cash on a nice Honduras passport and a serious bit of plastic surgery.

My thoughts exactly!!! 150,000,000 US$ can buy you anything you want... 1st thing would be a new passport!

  3. Oeps, I think we might have a problem here....

Coz I also appointed myself the leader of the red-shirts, and I just ordered them to burn their red shirts (or wash them really warm so they turn pink), and I issued the order to "Make Love, Not War".

Whoever is not obeying my order will be shot :D

So now there is no need for red shirt army anymore, and I don't have to be leader anymore, and I go home and Make Love, Not War :)

    Problem solved....

If only, it would be so easy :D

  4. The boys in brown now can just wait outside any pharmacy, and upon signal from the pharmacist make the arrest for a couple of valiums.

How can it be that it is illegal to have them in your possession, but legal to buy?????

There are so many more harmful drugs sold by pharmacies, just over the counter. This is not a matter of TIT, but more of TIFT :)

Good Luck to the kiwi guy!!! I am on his side :D

Thailand just lost another tourist :D

  5. What about all the 7-11 and other mini-markets at gasstations???

Thailand is great in making up new laws. but has no power and reliable (enough) police to enforce most of the new laws. They can not even enforce the 'old' laws....

PS how much tax money does the government make on alcohol????? I am sure they don't want to miss out on that.....

    CHEERS :)

  6. Very sad and hard to understand!!!

    1. Good divers use a SMB (Surface Marker Buoy)

    2. If they were diving with a reputable dive company, they are registered with name and details. How do we know they are Russian, but yet un-identified? Strange....

    3. Russian divers are NOT well known for their security mindset and listening to advice from experienced dive-professionals.

    4. Speedboats (and longtails) are one of the greatest dangers to divers in Thailand, especially with Thai drivers. I know cases that they AIM for SMBs. But you know how it goes: they are Thai and you are just a farang!

Again, it can happen to anyone! So sad for these 2 guys and their families!

  7. Unbelievable! A Black Panther in Thailand!

Where can this poor kitten go?!? I hope (s)he finds his (her?) way back to the peaceful mountain and live in peace... Maybe Burma???

For the panther's sake, I hope they don't see him again (meaning he is safe!)

I am on your side, Big Cat :) Run, and don't stop!

  8. My question to those who work here or run a business:

    a. Being that it seems to me thailand every year has some political event / something disruptive that causes concern about stability issues, would it be fair to say to always be prepared and not think to far ahead?

    b. Do you feel thailand is still a good place to work or do business here?

    c. Regarding your business or place you work did you manage to get through last year ok or did your business or place you work lose money?

    d. How do you feel about this year prospects, same as last year, good, better, worse?

    e. What challenges have you been facing so far

I ask these questions as I work here and run a business and am just curious to hear about your personal experiences so far.

    A. It is almost impossible to plan, due to the ever-changing rules and laws (for farang!)

    B. NO

    C. Loose a lot of Money, due to world recession and stupid (Thai) behaviour

    D. Last year was already bad enough; let's hope it will be better....

  9. Apart from the fact that these tuktuk drivers are plain Mafia and over-charge all the time, a deal is a deal!

I am sure we all have our experiences where we are charged way too much by tuktuks, taxis and other transport for a destination that was around the corner (IF we only had known :D ) That happens in unfamiliar places.... BUT not only in Thailand :)

Fighting over 50 THB is never worth it :D

  10. It is better to be homeless in Thailand than in Sweden :) , I guess...

LOS is nice and warm, alcohol is cheap (go for the Lao Kaow) and the police is very friendly (according to them!) I doubt if the Swedish embassy pay for tickets; normally they will not!!!

So, they will probably stay a bit longer in Thailand (but not in Phuket!)

  11. Bringing heroine to Thailand does not make much sense... I am sure the supply lines here are pretty good organized, and of course they never catch the really big fish. 700 gr is a lot for one person (I guess) but I am sure it is not enough to 'feed' all the junkies in BKK for even 1 day!!!

Typical a case of 'som nam na'. May they learn their lessons in BKK Hilton (and get some better contacts :) )
