A stark reminder of Thai "hospitality"
I didn't include that bit because it sounded like nonsense. Which newscasters? You watch Thai news, speak fluent Thai and they preface the news by saying that? More nonsense. Unfortunately I do have to endure Thai TV news sometimes, I do speak Thai, I have never heard them say that, Surely it can't be hard to find a link to support that claim if even newscasters are saying it randomly? Must be lots of evidence to support it.

Cooking with Ooni Wood Fired Pizza Oven
So come on, let's have some pizza posts. Today was a pizza day for six people. First up was the dough. Warm water mixed with yeast (370ml-ish water, 1 and a bit teaspoons of instant yeast), 600-620g of 0.0 flour, salt, a glug of olive oil, then good old fashioned hand kneading for ten minutes or so. Place in a bowl, light coating of olive oil to prevent sticking, cover and leave for a couple of hours. (Although measuring out the initial flour you inevitably find yourself adding more if it feels too sticky.) Tomato sauce: over a low heat, add olive oil, a few cloves of smashed garlic and fresh basil, and cook for a few minutes. Then add tinned tomatoes (two tins today) and slowly over a very low heat let it cook down over an hour or so, adding salt and pepper. It should end up as a nice slightly thick mush. It then goes in the blender with some more fresh basil leaves for a few pulses. Fire up the Ooni, get the wood pellets burning until you have a good 450 C heat (about 15 minutes), then off you go. Get your pizza on the peel and throw it in. You need to turn it every 15 seconds or it will burn, and after about a minute or so you're done. After all pizzas are done, leave the Ooni to burn out, empty a little tray of ash and put it away until next time. Once you get going it is a bit frantic as you need to get one in the oven, a minute later it is done, get the next one in, so a bit of a production line. As such I only took a picture of the last one - spicy chorizo, green capsicum, onion, buffalo mozarella, yellow cayenne chili pepper. Delicious but poor presentation (but didn't matter as I was eating it). I haven't mastered the art of getting them nice and round as I don't use a rolling pin but try and shape by hand. Needs more work and more practice. Over to you guys for pizza recipes, tips etc.

How about the way he treated them? You just assume they randomly treated him badly and that he was a saint and didn't raise his voice or make a scene? Why would you assume that?

There's absolutely nothing in that article that says they don't count deaths after leaving the sceme. It's nonsense.

A stark reminder of Thai "hospitality"
I bought a Mars bar yesterday but i didn’t eat it. I’m going to go and take it back now and demand they exchange it for some M&Ms. There’ll be Hell to pay if I shout at them in English to do it and they don’t understand what the hell I am on about. I might even come on here and complain about Thai hospitality!!

A stark reminder of Thai "hospitality"
No one is denying that people die in hospitals after road accidents. Jeez. Please share your evidence that only deaths at the scene are counted in the statistics. As someone else said this is an oft repeated myth that NOBODY has ever provided a single link for, nor shared a shred of evidence. It can’t be hard, surely?

Even for AN this is a particularly petty and ridiculous thread. - Man goes in to 7-Eleven. Man buys bin bags (for what, 100 baht?). - Next day man decides he doesn't need bin bags but instead of keeping them for when he does, man goes back to 7- Eleven to try to exchange them for something else because his 100 baht is important. Seriously, who does this? - Man expects Thai staff to understand his unusual English request. Man insists (in English). Then we are to believe that people started shouting and swearing at him for no reason. I don't buy that at all. - Rather than feeling stupid for causing trouble, man then goes home and posts an angry rant on AN blaming "Thai hospitality". Man is weird. Man is entitled. Man needs to look in the mirror. But no, man is innocent and this is all the Thais fault. Honestly, read the thread again and tell me it is not ridiculous. I would be embarrassed to even write a post like that. I would be embarrassed to admit I even tried to take some bin bags back to 7-Eleven for an exchange in the first place! Wow, just wow.

7/11 return policy in America. There I fixed it for you as you copied from the US site. It has absolutely nothing to do with Thailand.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Sigh. Why do diesel lovers always use childish terms like "sewing machines"? It just shows you have no interest in debating at all, your mind is made up and zipped closed. Mine was also made up until I spent time with a (fast) EV. Have an open mind and you can be surprised. I didn't know that. I have driven a top line Everest and it had a terrible sound system so I assumed the Raptor would be the same. The other facts about it being plasticky, slow, noisy and smelly still stand even if it does have a decent sound system.

You have literally no idea what you are talking about, apart from the condo point.

The 180kmh cap is a global Volvo safety thing, nothing to do with the battery. I think it was brought in in 2020 - they limit all their cars to a 180kmh top speed: petrol, hybrid, electric - and it is part of their pledge to eventually have zero fatalities in a Volvo car. Not sure I agree with it, but I rarely feel the need to go over 180kmh on the road these days (have done it plenty of times in my younger days). I should point out that although the ex30 is very fast it is kind of ridiculous talking about it in comparison to a 911. A 911 is a pure bred, highly focused, mid-engined sports car. An ex30 is a small family SUV. Totally different beasts, but alas, we do live in interesting times and I am all in favour of them. Even in comparison to a 911 the EV performance is addictive as it is instant, it is such a different feeling. I rented this beast for 24 hours in Dubai to race up and down some mountains and it was incredible. Faster on paper (0-100kmh in 3 seconds) but there's a lag, albeit small. A fast EV has no lag and just feels faster. Having said that I would take the 488 Italia Spider over the Volvo in an instant. ????

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Ah, sorry, maybe English is not your first language. He asked if there anything better for the price point. But instead you have posted a picture of something that is dirty, noisy, smelly, slow, and has a massively plasticky interior with vastly inferior tech and no premium materials or luxury additions like a Harmon/Kardon sound system, or unrivaled passive and active safety systems. This is called "much worse". Easy mistake to make. Next time look for someone asking for something worse, or more old fashioned. Happy to help!

Am I the only one using (Indian) 'cook in sauces'?
My thoughts exactly.

So....you are saying that EVs are more advanced, more developed and better than diesel and petrol? Wow, Transam has turned. Welcome.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Yeah, it's crazy when you think about it, EVs rock! (And I never ever thought I would like them until I tried one)

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Yeah, 1.9m. For the price I don't think anything can match it for spec and performance although I could be wrong. I am also interested in looking at the BYD Seal when it arrives here as that also appeals, but depends on what the spec is like.

Am I the only one using (Indian) 'cook in sauces'?
That does look good.

Definitely the Ultra for me - I need the creature comforts and I need the Harmon Kardon sound system. And definitely the twin motor - I need to enjoy that performance.

Am I the only one using (Indian) 'cook in sauces'?
Not fine to me. Not sure what your Trinkism is supposed to mean - because we are in Thailand we have to cook in filth? I can't abide a dirty kitchen, even as cooking I clean as I go so it as clean when I finish as it was when I started.

Am I the only one using (Indian) 'cook in sauces'?
Thank you, a hygienic kitchen picture.

Am I the only one using (Indian) 'cook in sauces'?
I just tried Patak's when I was back in the UK recently and was impressed. I bought some jars back with me but good to know you can get them here. Normally I never cook from a jar but will make an exception for this. I was told that many mid grade Indian restaurants in the UK also cook from Patak sauces or pastes. But can I please make a request? Clean your cooker man - it's filthy!
