Sunday roast dinners
Agree with that, always very dense. Never found a good one in Bangkok. No way!! Roast chicken should absolutely have skin on! Nice and crispy. Who the Hell takes the skin off a roast chicken??

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
That price looks absolutely ludicrous now (actually it always did).

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Thanks for that. Searching for Seal DynAudio I see it has a 12 speaker, 775W system. Nice. The ex30 has a 9 speaker (including sound bar) 1040W output with a subwoofer. I do love the set up of the Harmon Kardon system in my XC40, although not quite as crisp as the Mark Levinson system in my last car - that was truly awesome. But a 12 speaker DynAudio set up does sound great (no pun intended). Hopefully they'll let me blast it this weekend.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
I have a specific question: what's the sound system like? I don't see any info on it on their site but a good premium sound system is a big factor in my buying decision. I'm going to go to see the Seal this weekend but any first hand experience or review would be cool.

Yeah, I was enjoying the story until he came out with Leaf. Show him the light.

The barbecue that fired up awareness of political corruption in Thailand
What's corrupt about taking your cleaning staff for a 269 baht dinner? It's a nice gesture.

Light coloured or dark coloured car choice.
Ok, you win. Happy? To me it is still insignificant. Choosing where to park your car is more important than what colour it is. If you want to buy a white car because it is a few degrees different from a black one after sitting in the sun for an hour (when both are unbearably hot) then up to you. Personally I'm going to buy whichever colour looks best.

Light coloured or dark coloured car choice.
As mentioned in my post, after being parked in Thailand's sun both cars will be roasting hot inside, but after blasting air both will cool down. A slight difference means nothing to your comfort - they are both damn hot.

Light coloured or dark coloured car choice.
No doubt black absorbs heat so the metal will be a bit hotter (although we don't know how long those cars have been sitting there or how long since the engine was shut down - were they both parked at the same time?). No arguing with that particular bit of science. I'd be interested to see the difference inside which is what we've been talking about.. My feeling - based on owning both black and white cars - is that there will be hardly any difference on the inside, especially as both cars have the same amount of glass windows. And even a small difference will be moot as one minute of AC blasting and both cars will be equally cool. In summary, any car in Thailand that is left in the sun will be bloody hot inside. The colour makes such a small difference as to be negligible.

How stupid is this?
Ok. Thank you for your input. I mean you could have provided a link to back up your claim but no, some weird jibe about the middle ages will do instead, righty ho.

How stupid is this?
But when it is unsubstantiated nonsense then it's the correct response. No hard feelings mate.

Light coloured or dark coloured car choice.
As mentioned, in my experience (having owned black and white cars at the same time) it makes literally no discernible difference. But if someone wants to argue they can feel a difference I am not going to challenge them. Given the amount of glass in a car I would say the metal colour is not a big deal. Eh? How can colour be a status thing? Black cars don't cost more than other colours.

How stupid is this?
Always for me too.

One of them is a Celeriac.

Bangkok Pollution: one for the BKK long timers
I agree, but I also think the banning of 2-stroke motorcycles is the early 2000's (Late 1990's?) had a major impact. Those things used to spew out horrible white smoke. Bangkok is so much better now than it was then, although the seasonal burning months are pretty bad and I don't seem to remember that being a thing back then.

Light coloured or dark coloured car choice.
Wow, I agree with Transam. I would say it makes no difference. I have owned black cars and white cars, currently have one white one and one dark blue one with a black top and glass roof (but it has a shade). Absolutely no discernible difference when getting in either of them - they both are very hot inside if left in the sun and they both cool down very very quickly with A/C. Go for which ever colour looks best and don't worry about it. All cars have lots of glass windows anyway.

I think headlights do more for visibility at night than what colour paint you have.

Sick of cleaning the floor.
And everyone walks around in their house with their shoes on - shoes that have trodden through so much filth on the streets. It was completely normal when I lived there but having lived here for so long when I go back to the UK and people are sat on the sofa watching TV with their shoes on - it's just weird. (Same goes for seeing blokes walk around in the streets with no shirts on in the summer but that's for another thread).

War between China and the US
Good question. Personally I think the US would come out with the usual rhetoric but wouldn't actively do anything directly. I think it would provide support indirectly: weapons, funding, intelligence, ancient cluster bombs etc. I just can't image the US or NATO would ever get into conflict with China unless China did something absolutely unthinkable to instigate it.
-
War between China and the US
Since WW2 (which it avoided until it had no choice) the US only gets in to wars with minnows who will roll over in a few days. Absolutely no way would it enter a war with China or any other major player unless it is attacked on home soil. Not going to happen.

Royal Thai Navy to switch from a Chinese submarine to a frigate : Defence Minister
Nothing to do with it being Thailand. Which other country spends military budgets on general good? Which country takes money from the military and spends it on farmers? Let me know and then you can have your "being Thailand" comment. The UK has cancelled the second leg of HS2. Will they spend the money saved on farmers? Building houses for the poor? Feeding kids at school? I think the sub and HS2 were colossal wastes of money by the way, but saying it is a Thailand thing is ridiculous.

Decent hotel in Samet
Splitting hairs. Technically it is Ao Hin Khok but no-one ever refers to it as that. It is for all intents and purposes the tail end of Sai Kaew beach.

Decent hotel in Samet
I'll back that up, stayed there a few months ago. Great location. I always used to like Samet Villa (even going back 25 years) but my main problem is the black cesspit that empties in to the sea next door. Nice resort but I would be walking up to Sai Kaew to swim.
