  1. Currently. But it remains to be seen long term if EV adoption continues. The more successful EVs become the less successful Toyota will become - it is inevitable as they are years behind hence their investment in PR and lobbying against EVs. Time will tell.
  2. Not likely. They haven't even started to look at fixing it yet as the area is too volatile currently. I use a UK VPN for a lot of things (streaming iPlayer for example) and didn't notice anything until the second break happened in the Malacca straights. I guess they were rerouting traffic a different way to get around the Red Sea break, but when that backup also broke things started crawling. I think the Malacca one will be fixed soon so hopefully that will improve things as currently it is very frustrating and I have given up trying to stream anything from the UK.
  3. Yes, that's because of the Red Sea cable damage as posted above. It affects traffic between Asia and Europe. Asia to the US is unaffected.
  4. No, you're wrong. Any diesel SUV is bothersome to people in range of the fumes - they are filthy and disgusting. Let me guess, you drive a Fortuner?
  5. It is not True's fault. In March around 15 undersea cables were cut in the Red Sea and that's disrupting traffic between Europe and Asia. They still haven't been repaired. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68478828 Then last month another cable was cut between Malaysia and Singapore so this is making things even worse. Lots of existing threads on AN about this.
  6. I doubt Thailand can pull it off - they would need massive investment in stadia and how would they be used afterwards? But the last truly Asian host was Japan-Korea in 2002 and until the current batch are done in 2034 (Saudi) there won't be another one. So 2038 is 32 years since the last Asian host and it is surely due. (They count Qatar and Saudi as being Asia but I don't). People thought Japan-Korea was a ridiculous choice but they pulled it off - I was there and it was fantastic. Could Thailand do it? The only thing in their favour is good infrastructure but not good venues. But 14 years is a long time to get it together. A long and unlikely shot though unless they collaborate with other countries. Thailand-Vietnam-Malaysia perhaps? That would be awesome.
  7. Yes I am, I have better things to do. It is a minor irritation that necessitates me pressing on "debit" on my phone screen when I want to make an online payment. It takes me three seconds. As I said I can live with that. If I happen to go to the bank for something else (that happens maybe once a year, max) I'll ask them, otherwise I'll live with it.
  8. Nah, it's big enough of a deal to warrant a trip to the bank - I can live with it.
  9. Thanks, but I don't have any option like that. The closest thing is "preferred account" but that is greyed out as I only have one account.
  10. Yeah, I have been through all the settings but can't see anywhere to select a default. Weird that it defaults to credit card when I don't have one.
  11. So I go out for a few hours, come back and expected this to be dead and buried.........but you're still going. Hilarious.
  12. Woo hoo, I got pedantic Lou'd! My day is complete.
  13. In other news the Pope is revealed to be Catholic and a bear is found defecating in the woods.
  14. Good idea, I ran it by a translation tool. Chat GPT 4-o, released to great fanfare yesterday. Just popped your entire post in and asked it what it thought: It is reasonable to infer that the author of the statement is suggesting that the solar panels involved in the fire at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre were Chinese. This inference is based on the structure and wording of the statement: The initial statement claims, "Chinese solar panels are catching on fire." This is followed by mentioning a specific incident, "Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre 'all the solar panels on the roof' caught fire." The use of these statements in succession implies a connection between the general assertion about Chinese solar panels and the specific incident at the Aquatic Centre. So much easier to just say you made a mistake, we all do from time to time. If your prejudices lead you to believe anything electrical that catches fire must be Chinese that's ok. Just stop digging. Anyway, I've enjoyed this, no need to continue further, you are really quite hilarious, and watching you get more and more flustered trying to unsay what you said - rather than just admitting a mistake - has been classic.
  15. Paragraphs were invented for a reason. As were full stops.
  16. No, you didn't. Safety First did and I proved him wrong by saying they were BP solar panels manufactured in Australia. When you then replied that BP closed its solar division in 2011 I assumed you were trying to support him that they couldn't be BP panels as they closed 13 years ago. Otherwise why else would you post that? If you weren't suggesting that then fair enough.
  17. So by saying "Chinese solar panels are catching on fire. Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre "all the solar panels on the roof" caught fire." you weren't implying those solar panels were Chinese?? Seriously, just admit you made a wrong assumption or a mistake, that's fine. But by trying to wriggle out of what you clearly said, well, you are just an obvious troll and no point in continuing a discussion. What you wrote is clear for anyone to see, or, erm, hear.
  18. Yes, they did. And? The aquatic centre in question was built for the 2000 Sydney Olympics and used BP Solar panels. They still aren't Chinese, they were still made in Australia.
  19. Er, what? You said: "Chinese solar panels are catching on fire. Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre "all the solar panels on the roof" caught fire." Do you have that short a memory?
  20. Three things: "The black pickup was sent soaring". ChatGPT needs more training. It fell, it didn't soar. Just more poor and painful writing. The black motorbike guy had a very lucky escape. I am glad the pickup was destroyed. By its wheels and "Liqui Moly" sticker you know this was one of those modified trucks driven by morons that is chipped to spew out black filth. "Rolling coal". Good riddance.
  21. "As the ball spins further into the future" WTF does that even mean? I couldn't read any further than that as it was clear it was going to be another painful Chat GPT "article". Can somebody make it stop now? Please?
  22. Yeah, this changed recently. Annoyingly mine defaults to credit card and I don't even have a Bangkok bank credit card, so I have to change it to direct debit manually on each transaction.
  23. As Khun LA has already posted, they are not Chinese. Can you tell us where you got your information from that they were Chinese? Or did you just make it up? Please tell as you just make yourself look stupid and possibly racist by making that up. The anti-Chinese propaganda gets swallowed by the gullible, it is really quite pathetic, and you are one of the worst swallowers. I will retract that comment when you show me the information you read that says they were Chinese. They were made by BP Solar (a subsidiary of BP - British Petroleum) by the way. Racist nonsense. I just want to know if you made that up yourself or did someone else make it up and you just swallowed it. Pathetic, truly pathetic. Edit: Oh, and before you say BP Solar probably have them made in China, they don't. They are made in Australia. Their other manufacturing sites are the US, India, and Spain. No Chinese factories.
