  1. Japan may seem daunting but the rewards are amazing. And it is not as hard as it looks. Just pick 2-3 cities that you like the sound of. We did: Tokyo. Kawaguchi (for Mount Fuji), Sapporo (for snow), Kyoto (for scenery and culture). Book accommodation (we used Airbnb in Tokyo and Kyoto) and the most important thing buy a JR Rail Pass before you go. $229 for seven days, or $361 for 14 days, and it gives you absolutely unlimited rail travel. For an extra 25% or so you can go Green Class which is first class, well worth it. https://www.jrpass.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuIfrw-_F-gIVY5_CCh1PHgYiEAAYASAAEgLa1vD_BwE They mail you your passes. When you get to Japan you go to any JR Rail office in any station and just tell them all the places you want to go and they will book the trains and reserve seats, and yes, this includes bullet trains - as many as you like. And nothing to pay at all. They speak English and are very helpful. Then you're good to go. It's an amazing country, so if you decide you want to take a trip to somewhere else that you hadn't planned just go in to a JR Rail office and tell them and they'll book it. The bullet trains are an experience in themselves. Once you have all your rail journeys booked (do it on day one) then you have no more worries, just follow the instructions. Tokyo can be a bit daunting to get around by train at first, but it's all quite logical. Turkey is also fantastic and a popular place to visit (I have Thai friends there now). It's a long time since I've been though. I expect much easier than Japan, but the adventure and experience of Japan is something I'll never forget.
  2. Wow, what a freedom fighter!! Never washing your hands for two years, wow, you are sticking it to the powers that be alright. What a filthy crusader you are.
  3. Yeah, rocket launchers are used against protestors...
  4. Nice, glad you enjoyed it, thanks for reporting back. Honestly it is so refreshing to see someone posting positive stuff here and enjoying this amazing city.
  5. Yeah, I liked the sound of that but honestly it is really disappointing, nothing like what I expected. It is basically a concrete bridge with a few plants on it. However, from there you can walk to Ong Ang which is really cool in the late afternoon. Really nicely restored area of Chinatown, lots of food (Thai, Indian), street art, really nice vibe. You might see some tourists there but not many, and it is cool. https://www.tatnews.org/2021/03/award-winning-khlong-ong-ang-walking-street-isnt-your-average-walking-street/ The blue line (MRT) also has nice views along the river for a few stops.
  6. If you want a convenient way to do it get the Skytrain east up to Samut Prakan. Very Thai indeed, Thai markets, Thai restaurants, Thai street food. Likelihood of seeing a tourist, zero.
  7. Maybe morons call it Taiwan, certainly nobody I know. And nobody thinks of Thailand when you mention Asia, really? I think maybe you hang out with some seriously geographically challenged friends. American?
  8. Maybe he just doesn't keep reading the same news form TWO AND A HALF YEARS AGO! That was when Anutin made his comment that you guys keep reliving over and over again. March 2020. Don't you think it's time to move on?
  9. Why would they key his car? Never heard of a Thai keying a car, that only happens in Bootle.
  10. That is literally the most cliched and boring comment it was possible to make. (And it has been made by several other bores already)
  11. Pointless for racists, pretty important since 1951 for Asians.
  12. I believe it moves depending on the climate of the host country. Generally between September and December. I doubt they'd build a new stadium for it. Plenty of venues. Rajamangala was built for the 1998 Asian Games and can seat 70,000 so that should do for all track and field events. Lots of decent football stadiums now too. Not sure about swimming venues?
  13. I believe Asians do. Who'd have thought? "They have I guess been going on for 32 years, and I know virtually zero about them.....I doubt They have I guess been going on for 32 years, and I know virtually zero about them.....I doubt many people know more than me... many people know more than me..." Gong since 1951. Again, Asians might know more then you, weird hey? Even I knew that.
  14. Don't know about physical shops, but Lazada has quite a bit. This is searching only for stuff that ships locally, meaning you can get it in a day or two max. Maybe deliver to your hotel. https://www.lazada.co.th/catalog/?from=input&q=sonic hedgehog&location=Local Lots more choice if you remove the "local" filter and include stuff from China, but shipping can be two weeks so probably not suitable.
  15. Wow, how is it up there on your high horse? What a hilarious, self righteous load of nonsense. Where did I mention problems? I merely said they are both pointless rules with no logic to them and they therefore serve no purpose and should be scrapped. You attempt to justify the 2pm-5pm ban with a load of twaddle about schools and roads but we already have laws against minors buying alcohol. And the ban is also in force at weekends when there is no school. Does it affect me? Mostly no as I work during the week but I find it annoying when I go to the supermarket to buy stuff to cook for dinner but can't buy a bottle of wine to go with the dinner for me and my wife. And the 90 day reports don't bother me either. I've been working here for 25+ years, have never had a problem with immigration at all. But you can't argue it is a pointless rule and I don't think anyone knows why it exists.......it just does. If you look forward to your 90 day reports because you get to see immigration people then I think that says a lot more about your lifestyle than mine - I recommend you get out more. Just make sure it isn't between 2pm and 5pm as there are all these cars on the road. And try talking to people rather than preaching to them, you may end up having more people to talk to than just immigration officers every three months. I bet you have absolutely no idea how hypocritical you are being here.
  16. So you take it after sex and it kills your baby when it is two months old??
  17. Yes, the people who can read all reached the same conclusion as you.. The automatic bashers made the opposite one.
  18. Good for you. It is not the same thing whatsoever. Not even close. But you carry on spraying, carry on inferring sly little digs at Thai researchers, and enjoy yourself.
  19. If ever there was a post that deserved the negative emojis coming back, this is it. So "women should be women" and plop a baby out no matter what the circumstances? And they want men to deliver them too? Eh?? Actually it seems you think men should decide what is best for women. Right? By capitalising "Me Too" it is obviously where your thinking is. A total misogynist, loud and clear.
  20. Why? It was a partly tongue in cheek post, but is a pointless law that serves no purpose other than to inconvenience people. I have a proper job, I am not hanging out for a 7-Eleven beer at 2pm, it's just a silly inconvenient rule that should be abolished. 90 day reporting too. Is that better?
  21. To be fair, she didn't ask for asylum in Thailand. I think Thailand did OK in this situation, she had been freely spending a lot of time in the country criticising her government (rightly) but this time was - allegedly - stopped on entry due to an Interpol notice. They didn't arrest her, she wasn't in confinement, even though Myanmar asked for her to be arrested and sent back and apparently even sent police to the airport. The Thai authorities didn't cave in and let her be repatriated to Canada. The Thailand of old would have sent her straight back to Myanmar when asked, no question. I actually see this as a positive step for the country.
  22. She didn't apply for asylum in Thailand. Should they just randomly grant it to people at the airport?
  23. Ah yes, forgot about that one. If they are in this kind of liberal mood let's get rid of the reporting entirely unless you change address.
