  1. Sorry op you have no hop of her putting it in to your name she will not do .

All the best but next time think before you do thinks like that .

I was in the same boat as op,but i got a car ownership changed to my name. Not all women are mercenary.I just explained i will be her driver and will pay all the bills.Same with usufruct. The main point is my missus trusts me,and rightly so.

  2. If they are confused by their gender then how can they expect others to understand? blink.png

    True enough.

Meantime most people do not care what they do.....but many people have an opinion about the LGBT community, so to speak.

The way I see it is like this:

If you never come into contact with anyone from the LGBT community or have to interact with anyone in the LGBT community most people would say they do not really care.

However, if an when you do come in contact or have to interact with anyone deemed as being within that LGBT social circle, many people could or would feel awkward while some people would feel uncomfortable considering everything or anything that could be or would be entailed ...and rather not have to be involved.

Of course bullying should not be practiced or tolerated but according to the psychology on the issue, the experts claim that it is human natural to reject what is not understood to be socially normal when practiced in an environment where say 90 to 99 percent of the people do not practice what the LGBT social circles do practice.

There will always be a percent of people that reactive negatively or reject the practices of the LGBT social circle.

In other words they do not necessarily reject the person rather they react to and or reject the known lifestyle practices.

In other words if they had no idea at all that this person or that person are amongst the small percent of the LGBT social circle they would treat them like they would everyone else....but.... if it is obvious to them or once it is revealed or exposed to them that this person or that person or those persons are amongst the LGBT social circle then a notable percent of the people reject the practices....while all too often also rejecting the person.

It is like people who say: I do not associate with or want to associate with any person or people who drink alcohol or smoke tobacco or consumes recreational drugs.

It is not the person rather it is what they practice so I reject the practices and in effect have to reject the person.

Just saying....while meantime I do not care what they do or practice as long as it does not effect me in any negative way.

    Cheers

Bloody hell, total confusion.By the way,it's not a lifestyle choice,it's just the way it is.

  3. I RECENTLY BOUGHT 4 ITEMS, ALL DELIVERED SEPARATELY. One driver found my house with no instructions. The other 3 could not read maps or know enough to go to the post office and ask.

I speak no Thai. For 2 of them there were no Thai people nearby to talk to the moron. The driver replied to his office that I never answered the phone - a total lie!

So, I got delivers 50% of the time. Lazada support was NO help. They just told me to deal with the delivery company.

Farang logic, their morons because you can't speak or write,or get somebody to write Thai.

  4. My Mrs showed me a post on FB .One of her friends on there had a visit from her husband and he overstayed by 5 weeks. From what I can gather one he left the country she was visited in the village by the police from the local tambon office. She was handed a fine of 800 baht and was throwing a bit of a wobbler on FB about it . 800 baht is about £15 to £16 , so not bad for 5 weeks £3 per week.

They can't fine her for his overstay, maybe she didn't register him as staying at her house, her responsibility.

  5. Ur right why should a 14year over stayer get in any trouble. Why should we look down upon him? Just because he broke the law (one that responsible) people like some of us follow, didnt have to do his part with immigration you get what im saying....yeah right im going to cut anybody who overstays even a gram of slack. Not in this lifetime actually if I knew of a person that had overstayed for such a length of time I would have turned him in 13 years ago. If i have to go through immigration every year any other person who is required better do the same. You get no sympathy from me and any of you guys who try and defend them....need to find a seat right along with them.

you would turn someone in for overstaying??

Do you not think that is a little bit sad?

Did you have many friends at school???

Nay,he dobbed em all in for smokin behind the dunny.

  6. In one of the documents in the link it says that the home office and NHS are linked and information shared - your passport number goes into the system and your movements in and out of UK are checked to ensure that you are a resident and entitled to care.

As I read it passport info is only requested if you tell them or they suspect that you live overseas, but they will enter your name, address DOB and get a match if they are not 100% sure that you are resident. In the future, it will be everybody treated, schooled, council taxed, tv licenced, pretty much everything all on one big database. Big brother will catch up with everyone, the cross checks will be (if they are not already) automated and people will be caught out.

Bit of a bugger if you still pay tax on your pension or superannuation. The rule is the same in Australia - we still pay taxes there and are officially resident, but Medicare can refuse us cover if they suspect then prove that we've been out of the country for a certain amount time, not sure how long, we go back once or twice a year to touch base and take care of business but I'm not sure that's enough.

I think it is 4 continuous years.I have been out of Oz for over a year and have been back 4 times this year for 3 ops and now radiation.Bloody expensive, but all free.

  7. Yes, it's appalling the way elderly ex pats are treated by the UK government. We don't vote so we're a great target when it comes to saving money. We don't get annual pension increases either, but I suppose we're lucky to get anything. Having worked in France for about 8 years, I get part of my pension (300 euro per month) from France along with the increases and for 80 euro per month get the benefit of French social security health cover worldwide.

We in GB regularly knock the French, but at least they look after their own (and people like me as well).

Well you can vote, you know.I am an Ozzy and write to both sides of politics and have a whinge and then vote for the opposition in my area.If the seat changed and i got results i would be happy. If no result,i would vote for the new opposition.and tell them why.Nothing a polly fears more is losing is position on the gravy train and the swinging voter. They rely on complacency and the rusted on voter. No good being in the seat for 20 years, they got their super sized pension by then.3-4 years is enough, then boot em out.Unfortunately my seat has never changed from Labor, and my member is ok,but he wont change the law to suit me unless he gets the fear.

  8. Years ago I used to work out of Pacific Place 1 and 2 and go along Soi Nana to eat at Chequers or the Swiss place just before it. I used to play in a Thai darts team out of Washington Square and we played in a few places in and around Nana. I haven't been there for 2 or 3 years but I used to go to the Bus Stop for lunch as I really enjoyed their fish and chips. I don't even know if it is still there and open anymore.

Yes,still there, and i liked the fish and chips and AFL.

  9. I'm sure the OP will respond, but what defines 'NANA' ?

Technically, it's just Sukhumvit Soi 4, but maybe he means an area larger then that.

Soi Cowboy is easy to define, less so NANA?

For example, I stayed in a Hotel in Soi 13 last night - is that NANA?

Drinking beer on Sukhumvit Rd chatting to the owner of one of those temporary beer bars that pop up after Midnight (all along Lower Suk, I was near Soi 7 or 9, it was late), is that also NANA?

Maybe BTS NANA down to Soi 4, or extend to the Railway line ?

Just sort of curious on what defines NANA to most people.

    Soi 4,for a 100 metres in.

  10. I must be one of the dodgy ones, I seem to feel right at home in Nana. Now Patpong, not so much. I enjoy having a variety of places to play pool, and just watch the panorama of interesting sights. Of course, I don't have to live there.

Now that is a hole,Patpong.Walk through once ever 10 years for old times sake, are the memories, free beer for 2 hour, happy hour.

  11. Review needed on budget hotels

Nana hotel seems booked up for May

Must be a big mistake there.

There's a reason why the Nana Hotel is perpetually booked, even though there are cheaper and nicer rooms close by.

It's just 'old school', but left to get old...

Yes, there are lot's of two-week wonders who come for the proximity to NEP, and the bars. But sit in the lobby some morning or late evening, and you will see guys, old guys, who are there every year, for decades. They know each other, and obviously have the means to stay elsewhere. The staff knows them, and it is like home.

Yes, the rooms are old, and if you're new, you will probably get a rundown one. But anyone who has stayed there, and is not totally witless, will ask for a better room, and will get one at check-in. Never has so much as a suggestion that I offer an 'inducement', although when I stayed there, I always took care of staff well.

The same bellmen have been there 20+ years, as have the front desk staff, and even after not staying there for several years, they remember you. I have NEVER had a single item go missing, always got extra towels when requested, etc. How many Thai businesses have such low turnover? People stay there because they get consistent service.

Even the older rooms have huge, comfortable beds and pillows, free newspaper every morning. When I used to vacation there, a club sandwich and a Coke from room service got me through jet-lag often.

These days, I admit I wouldn't stay there, because demand has driven the price beyond the threshold of the nostalgia/value proposition. But, whenever I'm nearby, I do stop and say hello to a particularly kind desk clerk. And she always remembers me...

The place has always been HQ, but I don't expect many of the late comers to get it.

One day, the owners will cash out, and it will be gone, but many will remember, and mourn it.

I used to go to the Nana Hotel every time I was in Bangkok, nothing to do with the ladies, it could not be faulted, same price all the year round, great breakfast, great swimming pool, great staff, never had to book, always rooms available.

But one major thing that lets them down, and the reason I stopped going is because they do not have free internet like all the other hotels.

Getting down to breaky by 10am was always a killer for me.

Dynasty Inn the same, and you don't have to cross the road.

  13. Yep. It's a hole. Best avoided.

its the ugly old low life farangs who go there for sex. It is natural the Thais look down on them, and not polite to them.

Thai's couldn't give a toss what happens in the likes of Nana. They don't consider it a part of Thailand, just an area to fleece sheep, good and proper. When the sheep are drunk, abusive 'stupid and show lack of respect is when the problems start.I was in a taxi at 7am one morning coming out the side lane next to Dynasty and these two pissed morons came stumbling along and knocked over 4 huge vats of curry, etc.I feared for their lives until one of them came up with the money.I asked the vendors how much they paid, twice as much and don't have to work that day,5555.

  14. I was hoping for some good answers to this question. Unfortunately, so far, everybody wants to comment on his spending habits or know where he lives in Bkk. Doesn't matter where he lives, he wants to move. Any suggestions of where?

    sad.png

I don't know the guy, but it can matter very much what are his spending habits. If he can't afford BKK then it's going to be difficult to find a city where he can live more cheaply ... AND still have his desired sleaze factor.

Phnom Penh comes to mind. It's very sleazy (too much for me to live) and a bit cheaper than BKK. Perhaps Saigon, but I find the prices comparable to BKK.

Don't you have any suggestions of where?

Thanks, was hoping someplace in Cambodia could do the trick.

My main problem is routine monthly medical bills 0f 10,000 baht at Bumrungrad.

Can live comfortably with this but worry about anything major.

As for the sleaze factor I need an "underground" nightlife for people with alternative life styles (BDSM, Fetish, Goth, Gay, etc."

To use the 1970's slogan: sex, drugs and rock n roll. Much like Bangkok in the late 20th century.

    Whoa ...Whoa....Waaaaay too much information.....lol

    Mmm,that's Cha Am out then.

  15. If the geezer can't affored [sic] Bangkok, no wonder he's bored.

Bangkok really doesn't need another skint douchebag pensioner looking for slease, nor does Pattaya I imagine,

    Pop orf home laddie....

Better pompous millionaires such as your self eh,who is doomed to come a cropper.Give me honest old codgers who still can get it up,any day of the week.

  16. As far as I know, as in Europe, the Thai DPA cover for each depositor is on a per bank basis (regardless of how many accounts you have with the bank), and so anyone with a lot of money to deposit may prefer to do so with multiple banks.

Yes, it is 1 million per bank. Multiple accounts in the same bank will be insured at the aggregate of 1 million. I posted a poll regarding this a couple of months ago.

Bank deposit insurance reduction in 2016

When i'm out and about and feel like a bit of ac and chitchat,i drop in to a bank and see if i can open an acc.If i can,i come back the next day.A man can't have enough bank acc.
