  1. They think when they become millionaires it'll save them taxes.
  2. I follow what you say. I had a miserable, cowardly, violent father. Got myself out aged 15 to find the paternal structures I needed in the army - a somewhat more legitimate gang ...
  3. I always do my financial transactions in multi-storey car parks. Where else would you do them?
  4. By the way you forgot to include the option 'None of these things'.
  5. What I find notable about this whole ballyhoo is that the Thai army simply decides to close a border with all that that entails diplomatically, economically and socially. Just like that. Surely that's a government decision.
  6. What's he sitting on his desk for? Must make working much harder.
  7. Certainly the 'police' missed a chance of aiding someone who has a markedly high chance of getting murdered by some predator before she's 30.
  8. Lying low? ... Thailand is famed for crime on the lam ...
  9. Actually the less you own the freer you are - things aren't called the 'trappings' of life for nothing. Honestly, there will never be a cashless society except in science fiction writers' or conspiracy theorists' minds
  10. What happened to the customer they were fighting over? Guess he lost interest PDQ.
  11. Can hardly wait. Does Star Alliance operate to Pyongyang? Don't those three Kims at the water slides look like a whole bunch of fun? Awful. Picture says it all.
  12. Your fears are unfounded. There will never be a cashless society. Have you seen what happens when payment systems collapse on an average afternoon? It's chaos and loss all round. I have witnessed it and the outage lasted for days. In a hi-tech country. Cash solved the issue - there will always be cash. I managed to pay cash for my supermarket purchases. Dozens of others had to start unloading their trolleys or leaving them at the check out. People are still hoarding old local currencies decades after the introduction of the cash euro. They'll (we'll) always have some euros on hand and the old currencies are still valid valuta. It's also in no government's interest to ban cash - even if they'd like to do it for obvious reasons.
  13. I was thinking school playground ... Jesus wept ... but then I bet they both had something or other in their bloodstreams ... meth or whatever ...
  14. Practically no one in reality ...
  15. Agreed. I checked the hols out when Wise told me it'd take till Wednesday to get through. My landlady was OK with it. I really don't feel the need to check public holidays before I have to make a transfer. Maybe it's crucial for others.
  16. Interesting you say that. I've never had a hiccup with Wise. But a payment I wanted to make into a Thai account on Friday May 30th was held till Wednesday June 4th as well. It was Queen Suthida's birthday on the Tuesday and Monday was a bridge public holiday. The previous month the same payment shot straight through.
  17. Who knows? The whole lot of them are about as transparent as black paint.
  18. Stephen Fry is definitely not that type of man even if he's having a spat with JK. AN threads however are bursting with those types.
  19. Highly unlikely with that age difference. In 10 years he'll be 67, retired and growing older, at least starting to ponder death ... mentally and physically in a totally different place to her. She'll be 36 and in the prime of life, bursting with beans, libido and energy with a whole life to look forward to. Chances of that holding in a mutually beneficial and happy way are minimal. Tell him not to build a house or go near high balconies in Pattaya.
  20. It's ludicrous. Sounds like some second rater trying to get some air time and collect a few brownie points.
  21. It's never time for a coup but that's never stopped them.
  22. Depends to the largest extent on where you hang out and at what time of day though doesn't it?
