No, your post is a deflection. Children working in mines has nothing to do with it. Zero. Nada. Nothing.

Did I say that? Oh, wait, no I didn't. As usual, you deflect. Do not try and accuse me of saying I said things I didn't. Stop baiting.

During the pandemic, there was a huge boom in the use of technology, requiring the hiring of a lot of employees by a lot of companies. People were shopping online as stores were closed. People were working from home and meetings were being held on platforms such as zoom. Entire school systems were conducting classes online. Most of my Dr.'s appointments were on FaceTime. Do you really think that a lot of the people hired, or the tech companies thought that was going to be a permanent gig?

So you think she has accomplished nothing? That is a pretty ill-informed statement. At 16 she sailed from Europe to New York in a zero carbon emitting sailboat. Greta Thunberg was 'TIME' magazine's youngest person of the year. Greta Thunberg was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize... more than once. Greta Thunberg founded Fridays for Future. There are many more things to add to the list, but I wouldn't want to overburden you with too many facts. https://www.greenmatters.com/p/greta-thunberg-accomplishments

Classified documents from Biden’s time as VP discovered in private office
Credo replied to Scott's topic in World News
The first thing that needs to be acknowledged is that both Biden and Trump are ultimately responsible for how their administrations handled classified documents. I suspect that the documents that Biden has may not have been in the chain-of-command where they are followed carefully. That is most likely part of why they went undiscovered for such a long time. A fair number of documents are classified simply as a method to keep them out of the hands of the journalists or the public and protect them from the Freedom of Information Act. That's a practice that should be reviewed. -

It's highly doubtful that he supervised the packing of documents. But, there is a special counsel whose job it will be to find out who did and what direction they were given. But, just to be clear, it is his responsibility, regardless. There maybe a host of reasons the Archives wouldn't know about the documents. They are not a policing agency. They take possession of Presidential Records but unless the documents are obvious, they may not catch it. Remember, he and Obama had 8 years worth of records and so far this is a handful of documents. On the other hand, Trump had 4 years and a massive number of missing documents. Presidents do have run-ins with the Archives over documents -- not classified ones because those are pretty clear -- but other papers that a President may consider to be personal and the Archives may consider them to be covered under the Presidential Records Act. Many of the records and documents are kept by the President after they are logged. The records still belong to the Archives, but are permitted to remain with the President. If you remember, Trump was spouting off about how George W. Bush kept records in an old bowling alley. That is true, but that storage facility was authorized and supervised by the National Archives. Many, if not most, of the documents on display in a Presidential Library are simply on loan from the National Archives. The Archives also takes possession of all gifts given to Government officials in the line of duty, so all those items presented to the President (or an Ambassador) are the property of the government. So, the National Archives has the responsibility of taking charge of everything from paintings to puppies and even horses given to Presidents. -
Classified documents from Biden’s time as VP discovered in private office

No, they were not in the process of being negotiated. The documents were the property of the government, who asked for them back. They were not returned even after a subpoena had been issued. There is no indication that the National Archives was aware of Biden's documents. His papers were in the process of being moved from the office when the documents were discovered. They were immediately turned over to the Archives, and the Archives in turn notified the DOJ. There is no evidence that anyone other than Biden himself gave the attorneys permission to check his home. There was no subpoena, and there was no law enforcement involved. -

Whether the documents are classified or not, they were not Trump's property. They were asked to be returned and they were not. -
Four unanswered questions about the Biden classified documents
Credo replied to Scott's topic in World News
There was no cover up. If you remember, the situation with Trump and the classified documents was not covered in the press until there was a search warrant and subsequent raid. Even though there had been subpoenas issued. -
How the Biden and Trump classified documents cases compare

He wasn't 'caught'. His lawyers turned the documents over to the National Archives. -

A search warrant is executed when there is probable cause that contraband is present in a particular location. They apparently have no reason to believe that there are more documents in a particular location or that there will be any attempt to keep them. There is no indication that the Archives is or was aware that the documents found and turned over were ever missing. The documents were not known about for months. They were turned over the following day after being found. -

It's not climate alarmists you should be sick of, it's the climate denialists that have been funded by the pro-fossil fuel lobby for a long time. They have known the truth for a long time. Here's one example of the truth they have been hiding from you, it's from the Harvard Gazette: Exxon disputed climate findings for years. Its scientists knew better. Research shows that company modeled and predicted global warming with 'shocking skill and accuracy' starting in the 1970s Projections created internally by ExxonMobil starting in the late 1970s on the impact of fossil fuels on climate change were very accurate, even surpassing those of some academic and governmental scientists, according to an analysis published Thursday in Science by a team of Harvard-led researchers. Despite those forecasts, team leaders say, the multinational energy giant continued to sow doubt about the gathering crisis. https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2023/01/harvard-led-analysis-finds-exxonmobil-internal-research-accurately-predicted-climate-change/?fbclid=IwAR05kkdBbmT_RvHx-4dIqDc_Ud_hbeGLUu7oCJ9q8QsdkRTCYQ0Xr8P6P8c -
Classified documents from Biden’s time as VP discovered in private office

He never got caught. He had the documents returned. No police, no FBI. His attorneys saw them and called the WH; the WH advised they needed to be turned over to the NA. They called the NA who retrieved them the next day. Everything was turned over including obviously personal papers to the NA and they can sort it out and return what belongs to Biden. -

Obviously, he should do just like his predecessor and say they are declassified. The difference is, Biden can actually do it because he IS president. -
Well, first, thank you for your service to your Queen and country. Second, I do agree that he comes across as a bit whiny, but a lot of that is because it's hard to relate to anyone from a life of such extreme privilege being upset by anything. I suspect it's not really fair to equate the loss of his mother to anyone else's loss of a parent. At the time, he was of a pretty tender age, and it always seemed from what I saw in photos and on video clips that he had a very special relationship with his mother. Diana had only two children, an heir and a spare. He really had only a brother to compare himself to, whereas the queen's children had others to figure out their role in the family and in the Firm. William, being the heir, was treated differently. His path was clear to him. I suspect the family went to great extents to see that he stayed on the straight and narrow and gave him all the encouragement he needed to fulfill his role. Harry really had no role. He was the understudy for the great performance. He appears to be sensitive and his feelings have mostly manifested in behavior that is more negative -- his military service was certainly more intense than most royals. He was in the trenches, so to speak, he seemed to relate well to ordinary soldiers. When left to his own endeavors, he was a bit of a party animal. William, on the other hand, was much more restrained. He even married 'right'. Make no mistake. I admire the royal family. I think William is an upstanding guy and will one day make a superb king. It's a family drama playing out in public view. I think it's hard to always know you will b 2nd fiddle to your brother. I know families where this sort of thing has happened, and it doesn't usually go well. I think the loss of his mother and watching everyone flock to support his brother was more painful for him than many expect. I wish him and his family the very best, and I hope one day they will be on cordial terms. I also believe that the passing of the Queen has made that more difficult. The family matriarch held that family together.

He served THE QUEEN. He respected her, and he has not spoken poorly about her. She is the Head of State, his military service was in her name. He had no use or purpose in the Royal Family. He had no ability to go anywhere. He has no real role. He will never be king and as long as he stayed in the firm, he would be locked into the role he had. He never chose the role, it was by virtue of birth. Like many of the 'spares', like Andrew and Margaret, they did not fare well.

His insight and honesty is refreshing. He has served his country and his Queen. An admirable person.

Lady Susan Hussey quits over remarks to charity boss Ngozi Fulani
Credo replied to Scott's topic in World News
Well, I wonder why Lady Hussey apologized after quitting: Susan Hussey offered her “sincere apologies” to Ngozi Fulani for her comments and “the distress” they caused her. She pledged to “deepen her awareness of the sensitivities involved and is grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the issues in this area.”Dec 16, 2022 https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/16/uk/susan-hussey-apology-intl-gbr/index.html -
I think the current situation with the Republican Party has caused a lot of confusion about what it means to be a conservative. The question on the issue of being woke is simply does it affect your life, and the answer is probably no. Does gay marriage affect you? Probably not. Does someone being trans affect you, probably not. Does it affect you if someone is gender-fluid, probably not. Does a drag queen at a public library reading children books affect you? Probably not. Do you have to take your children to those readings? You don't. Stay away from body, stay out of bedroom. Leave my religious beliefs to me and me alone. Don't impose your religion on me. I have no idea where the conservatives are headed when it comes to fiscal matters. They seem to like to spend a lot of money but lower taxes. That doesn't work very well.
