  1. There is a long history of legal action against those with an infectious disease. Even in the Bible it talked about leper colonies. They simply were not allowed to wander around with the rest of the population. There are specific, and some very discriminatory laws specific to those with HIV and they have been enforced. Hepatitis C is another one. In 2018 an Ohio man was sentenced to 14 months in prison for spitting at police. In Ohio, it's a felony for people who know they have HIV, viral hepatitis or tuberculosis to intentionally expose another person to their blood, semen, urine, feces or other bodily substances such as saliva. So, when it comes to endangering the health of others, it is not your right to be a risk to others. https://archive.kpcc.org/news/2018/06/22/84215/laws-that-criminalize-spread-of-infectious-disease/
  2. That is probably the least intelligent statement I've seen in a long time. Is the spike not a part of the virus? The spike is the part of the virus that attaches to the cell and then injects the genetic material into the cell. The remainder of the virus exists only to help the spike attach and inject the genetic material in the cell.
  3. Personally, I can't wait to see what happens when the Thai government decides that all foreigners have to get vaccinated in order to obtain a visa. I wonder how many will hold to their nonsensical 'right' to not get vaccinated?
  4. I think the one who doesn't get it is you. You are implying that one dose of a vaccine that doesn't cause ADE and still doesn't with two doses will suddenly do so with a 3rd booster. That is simply not even a possibility. Your insinuation is nothing more than casting aspersions on the vaccines and boosters. You did so on the vaccine, now you're zeroing in on the booster.
  5. It didn't work then and it won't work now. That is my point.
  6. So here's the problem with that very, very flawed plan, it allows for the isolating of people who may not want to be isolated. How far do you take it. Do the people who work in nursing homes also have to be isolated so they don't bring it in? I just find it amazing that you are so willing to take away the rights of many just to allow the unvaccinated the freedom to continue to spread a virus. Funny how rights extend to some but not to all.
  7. It's a generalization and probably true, in general. The difficulty is that if it finds a new host, we may end up only being collateral damage. In that case, whether we die or not, the virus continues to thrive. Right now, we know a number of species are vulnerable to infection.
  8. The war on drugs has been one of the biggest busts of all time. It has been a colossal waste of money, government resources and resulted only in shattered lives. And it's not just drugs doing the shattering. It's the judicial system as well. I am inclined to think the time is approaching for simply decriminalizing and legalizing virtually all drugs. Addiction is a health problem and that's the system that should handle it, not the legal system. Anyone looking at the role of the legal pharmaceutical companies in the US Opioid crisis can see the drug problem is not going away. There is simply too much money to be made. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it.
  9. No, no, no. That was ONLY in Pattaya. It was Pattaya that had no prostitution.
  10. Predictions are based on an 'if' factor. If X happens/doesn't happen, then the result is 'Y'. If vaccination rates are below a certain level, then deaths will be high. I don't know that the numbers are inflated, they are simply a matter of worst case scenarios being reported. If you dig, you'll find many of the predictions are accurate for the level of mitigation -- mask wearing, vaccines, social distancing, etc. that are actually being adhered to. The weather forecast is a prediction and one I pay attention to. I know where I lived, when a tornado warning was issued, thousands of people take shelter, but we know a tornado will only hit a limited number of buildings, if any.
  11. Totally agree. I think most politicians have fallen short of the Covid protocols at one time or another and then there are those that ignore them all together. IMO, she doesn't owe any apology to anyone. She was told she didn't have to isolate, she went out and then found out that she should. If it were that important, I am sure they could have found her if they felt she was an imminent danger to anyone. It's not like Russia invaded. They're pretty busy in Ukraine these days.
  12. Well, short of banning incoming travelers, this is a pretty reasonable alternative. They are talking about recently recovered and with documentation and with a 90 day window. During that time frame the natural immunity should be about as strong as fully vaccinated people. If Omicron turns out to be much more transmissible and can cause breakthrough cases, then it will be about the same for vaccinated or natural immunity in that time frame. Also note, they must have medical certification they are clear to travel.
  13. From your posts, all I can glean is that now you seem to think it's the government that is the problem. Previously, it was fat, diabetics that were the problem. I think the problem right now at this time is Covid.
  14. I 100% agree you should decide what you want to do with your body and health, but here's the kicker, when you don't get vaccinated you are also deciding what happens to other people's bodies.
  15. Smoking isn't contagious. You won't catch smoking from me and I am restricted from smoking in a place where your exposure is unlikely to harm you but there is an outside chance that it could. Obesity is also not contagious. No matter how much you eat or how fat you get, it only affects you. That's the difference.
  16. I am not suggesting anything. You are. If the main area with Covid are cities, what do you suggest? Not letting people leave cities? It's either that or depopulating them. Advocating for good health? Well, for many people it's not exactly a quick fix and some others it's not possible. If you have diabetes or a number of other conditions, it has nothing to do with 'advocating for good health'. So other than eating well and going to the gym (which is a very high risk area for Covid), please enlighten us.
  17. Well, to implement what you suggest would mean de-populating the cities. I think the Khmer Rouge tried that. I am not sure what you think would work for the 'unhealthy'. Maybe forced quarantine? So, the ones spreading it get a free pass, but the ones who are dying get their right to free movement removed? Oh, and should vigilantes do this, since it appears that you don't want government doing it?
  18. Taking a wild guess, I'd say that it's going to have a short-term affect on travel, tourism and public health. I think we will find out in a few weeks just how transmissible this virus is and how effective our vaccines are against it. If, and it is a big if, the virus follows the usual path, it will get more transmissible but less deadly.
  19. Covid doesn't care what political party you are, what religion you are, nor your race. That said, much of the misinformation comes from the right. I know one network that tends to be less supportive of vaccines mandated that had all their employees get vaccinated. I don't know the numbers on the left-leaning side who aren't vaccinated but I am sure there are plenty, just not as many as on the right side. A lot of minorities lean left, yet have lower vaccination rates. The big difference is that with many it's a personal choice and not a political stance.
  20. If they are going to report information, then it would be nice if they would give us more facts. I believe it was Indonesia that lost quite a few medical workers to Covid and vaccinated with Sinovac. The report says the numbers are considered high, but doesn't complete the picture.
  21. Personally, it's going to be interesting to see what happens when the Thai gov't demands that anyone staying in the Kingdom must be vaccinated. I wonder how many people will pull up stakes, leave their wife and family and head back home? I doubt they are going to demand that locals be vaccinated and give foreigners a free pass.
  22. I don't know if now is the time, but it had better be soon. Life won't be normal without bars and pubs open.
  23. Here's another person who took Ivermectin and died of Covid: https://www.yahoo.com/news/florida-woman-dies-suing-hospital-135438558.html
  24. Well, this guy was late to that party. He hung on to the idea that it was a hoax for a very, very long time.
