  1. Has anybody successfully claimed the appropriate rate when they've visited the UK, the EU or any other country that uprates pensions?

yes every time I go back to the UK I phone them up, give the date I arrived and the date of my departing flight.

  2. again one of these EU policies where it shoots itself in the foot.

instead of cheap shrimps and cheap pangasius from unregistered fishers, they will now get expensive shrimps and pangasius from registered fishers. great.

At the end, the improvement in fishing practices will again be paid as always by the EU consumer. Most of them don't have any money left to go on holidays in Thailand either...

Please tell me where I can buy the cheap prawns and pangasius from unregistered fishing boats because I seem to be buying only the expensive ones from the registered boat,I really could do with your help.
  3. Looking for a bite? I plead ignorance and apathy, I don't know and i don't care. Market prices should determine the price of commodities, and one segment of industry shouldn't be allowed to use their numbers to extort from other taxpayers.

Maybe a good long drought is just what this country needs to shake out the inefficient and incompetent.

. If you don't know and don't care why do you talk about things that you know nothing about.

all that would be a good idea but I think it would cost more than some of the busses are worth.
  5. A three year old wants a toy daily, what sort of child are you bringing up?.what will the child want at five years of age the latest video games, telephones, computer, maybe all the child wants is some affection. You reap what you sow,you say that 79 baht is to expensive so will be the future toys.

  6. I suppose the next stage would be to stop a shop or restaurant displaying the drinks in a glass fronted fridge.

The same as they do with cigarettes, where they are hidden in shuttered display cabinets.

I know Thais are weak but this is ridiculous.

Farangs are selective with what they drink. Unlike Thais they will not drink any crap that gets them drunk quickly and cheaply. Most have good taste ( with drinks anyway ) and like their own particular brands.

Thais call every spirit Whisky, They have no concept of the difference between Whisky / Rum / Brandy / Gin / Vodka / etc

Their height of sophistication is a bottle of Spy they call wine. So a choice is not important to them.

This maybe true of the Thais in your village in Nakon nowhere dear boy, but not all Thai's are rice picking peasants,

I have been to dinner with some of the boys who drink bottles of wine which are more than your pension or teachers salary so maybe less of the all encompassing generalisations about a population you obviously know very little off outside your little farang bwana bubble you live in

. Of or off make up your mind.I have made a lot of money in my working life, but I have NEVER belittled any one less well off than my self,I suppose that comes from being brought with respect for other people.
  7. Cabinet nod for three motorways

    The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Cabinet has approved the proposed construction of three motorways designed to alleviate traffic problems during long holidays, deputy spokesperson at the PM's Office Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnerd disclosed yesterday.

The motorways, slated |to be completed in three |years, are a 196-kilometre motorway from Ayutthaya's Bang Pa-in district to Nakhon Ratchasima via Saraburi; a 96-km motorway from Nonthaburi's Bang Yai district to Kanchanaburi; and a 32-km motorway from Pattaya to Map Ta Phut.

Sansern said the Cabinet hoped the Bang Pa-in-Nakhon Ratchasima route, running parallel with Mittraphap Road, would ease the notoriously bad traffic heading Northeast during Songkran.

Well let's hope that the road surface lasts longer than that of the " super highway " ( Asian highway 32 and 1 ).
  8. The Daily Telegraph is a sensationalist rag for the semi-literate and new immigrants with a limited English vocabulary. It actually used to increase in value when used as a fish and chip wrapper but that practice has been discontinued, and the drop in price of toilet tissue has removed the last possible reason to buy it.

OI I bin reding that papor and I fink I am nut illattilate.
