  1. so, if this people don't do the 90-day report 4 times in one year, they will have to pay a fine of 4 x 2,000 thb!!! you seem to know some unusual and very clever people ... for most people of us, it's best to follow the rules and not ignore them, especially if you plan to live in thailand long-term.
  2. what does a year's worth of bank statements look like? i have a "pra-jam" bank book, and for years, it automatically makes 12 fixed deposits. there are no withdrawals, only the interest at the end of the term ... a one year statement will look exactly like my bank book ...!?
  3. if not back to jail, at least back to dubai ... for a beginning
  4. why isn’t your wife financially supporting her sister? does your wife have her own money or a job?
  5. many foreigners still consider chiang mai the best place to live in thailand. it's hard to believe, but true ... who would willingly move to a city known for traffic jams and extremely unhealthy air during the burning season ... you have to wonder what goes through people's minds when they move to a city known for its extreme air pollution ... and then talk about having a good quality of life in chiang mai ... unbelievable ...
  6. from experience, we all know that such safte measures in thailand often start but fade away within a few weeks ... unfortunately, this is the harsh truth and reality in thailand ... nothing will improve for a lasting solution ... parents also should care about their children's safety, but they don't! in many cases, they actually set a bad example when it comes to safety, they just don't care as long nothing happen ... but if something happen the blame game starts ...
  7. i'm not a finance expert or a business expert... but isn't it normal for every new car company to face years of losses before making profits? the investment costs for a startup can easily reach a few billions of dollars... tesla took about 15 years to produce at a profit, and now no one talks about that as a bad business decision ... is there a different to the chinese ev car markers?
  8. the whole situation really reminds me of 2006. back then, khun toni also thought he could do whatever he wanted, and no one could stop him. it's very possible this story will repeat itself ... what an arrogant and selfish person / family ...
  9. if you fly by plane to khao lak, it will cost you also ... that would be a nice roadtrip, chiang rai to khao lak ... if you change your mind please let us know how the very long roadtrip went ...
  10. to improve the living conditions of the poorest people, different approaches are needed. corruption must be tackled consistently, starting with all government officials. a fair justice system must be established, and equal opportunities for everyone must be ensured, including for the "ordinary people" ... simply giving money to low-income earners or to the poor is not a long-term solution. in a developing country with widespread corruption, trying to create a "welfare solution" only leads to more injustices and more chances for corruption ...
  11. "Why is there no Road safety taught at schools" ... it’s assumed to be common sense, but safety, consideration, and caution aren’t things thai culture typically emphasizes ...
  12. first of all, thank you for the responses and suggestions. it seems like we are not the only one facing this issue ... quick update: yesterday, while i wasn't at home, the internet company installed agian a new router (no. 3) and made some adjustments to the settings. it looks like the 'connection problem with various devices' has been now resolved. hopefully, this will be a long-term solution ... we're actually quite satisfied with the service from this internet provider (a government-owned company). they respond quickly and make an effort to find a prompt solution. internet speed isn't so important to us, but reliability and a stable connection definitely are ... thank's agian, motdaeng
  13. you make a claim, so please provide some facts. why do you think others should fact-check your claims? thank you very much!

  15. at my house, there’s only one internet provider available, and no competitors are allowed to operate within the residential community. this provider has been trying to resolve a wifi connecting issue for weeks now, without success. the problem isn’t the speed, but around 8 different devices can’t connect at all to the wifi or only stay connected for a few hours (including a new vivo phone, all apple devices, xiaomi cctv, tv, etc.). but the same internet landline works through a wifi hotspot (via phone), but this is just a temporary solution. the strange thing is, we didn’t have any issues with the same devices and the same provider for several years ... what alternatives are there? does anyone have experience with routers that use a sim card? is satellite wifi an option? maybe other advice? thank's, motdaeng
  16. that would be interesting but would also surprise me, ... where did you read that? thanks 😊
  17. i did slightly modifying your text to show you that the same applies equally to ice cars (owner) as well ...
  18. what a disgrace ... the ambassador visits a convicted criminal who is also responsible for many deaths and faked an illness to escape prison time, and so on. absolutely disgusting ... i hope the germans in thailand do protest against the own german ambassador ...
  19. thailand faces one major issue: corruption! regardless of the area that needs urgent improvement, deeply entrenched corruption, often passively accepted by many thai people, obstructs progress. thailand's biggest battle was and will be against corruption, as everything is interconnected. without addressing or at least reducing corruption, nothing will improve in the long term ... it has nothing to do with a lack of education or not existing laws; it's purely about corruption!
  20. today, i find myself agreeing with many well-informed and experienced people (regarding bev)... ... "stupid is as stupid does" ... perfectly captures a lot of posts ...
  21. unfortunately, not much will change again, at least not in the long run. the same can be said for countless other similar tragic events involving deaths and other disasters ... anyone who chooses to live in thailand must accept that human lives, health, nature, etc. hold little value, and nothing will change that ... it is so sad but the true!
  22. you absolutely right, it is the same as for an ev car ... normally repairable and still retaining some value ... you seem to have some very basic knowledge about ev cars at least ...
  23. yes you are right! i had an ice car and the engine failed and I was done ...
  24. a battery warranty of 8 years don't mean the battery has to be replaced or can not be used anymore ... it's the same as for a ice car, after the warranty you still can use the car as normal as before
  25. from what i know, some companies are now offering battery warranties longer than 8 years. many studies show that newer batteries can last up to 600,000 km or more. @vinny41 is the expert on ev data. i’m sure that as batteries continue to improve, ev-haters will have to find a new reason to criticize them ...
