you quoted my post. i didn't write anything about immigration or scaremongering, etc. when clarifying something with authorities, for example regarding tax questions, it would be nice to receive written confirmation of the information provided. i described a way to obtain this in my post ... thank you.

to get confirmation from the tax office (that no tax has to be paid), there is a solution: request a refund of the withheld tax from your bank account, even if it’s just a small amount. go to your local TRD, the staff will do the tax return with you together, asking you about work, other income, money transfers etc. this way, you’ll have something in writing in your hands ...

i recommend everyone buy a simple pm2.5 meter. good air quality should be below 10 µg/m³ for pm2.5! i did some tests a few years ago, got rid of the air conditioner filters, and now use only air purifiers, which keep the pm2.5 levels inside my house consistently low. convincing yourself, putting the air con a 3m filter alone is enough to tackle high air pollution might be a solution, but it’s not an effective one.
-
believing something "works well" doesn’t make it a fact. spend a little money on a pm2.5 meter, and you’ll see it for yourself ... it doesn’t work as you might think! reducing pollution from a very unhealthy level to just an unhealthy level isn’t something to be satisfied with. an air conditioner with a 3m filter only reduces pollution slightly and inefficiently ... and even that only works if you change the filter regularly!

when pm2.5 levels are high, only an air purifier can bring them down to under 10 micrograms per cubic meter. get a pm2.5 meter and see for yourself. by the way, using a 3m filter may slightly reduce pollution, but it will make your air conditioner work harder ...

it's interesting to observe how the many tax topics in this forum have developed dynamically. now, many posts question whether tax regulations will be enforced or not and base their decision on that only to file a tax return or not! it wouldn't surprise me if the same people do complain about the extreme air pollution and blame it on the lack of enforcement. i remember over 10 years ago, overstaying wasn’t a big issue, but things have changed. the same could easily happen with tax obligations, where enforcement could become stricter in the future, leaving little room to avoid following the regulations and filing tax returns. no one enjoys paying taxes, which is understandable. ultimately, everyone must decide for themselves what is right ...

unfortunately in most cases the only solution is to move to an other place and hope the new place will be better ... good luck ...

what are the benefits, in your view, of using a better route planner (ABRP) compared to google maps? thanks motdaeng

you need to buy an air purifier and a pm2.5 meter, not an air humidifier. -
Expats How Do You Deal With The Toxic Air Pollution in Thailand?
motdaeng replied to Mitkof Island's topic in General Topics
just because you don't feel or see pollution now doesn't mean it won't affect your health in the future. it seems that nearly all thai people and most foreigners underestimate this fact and downplay the issue of air pollution until it directly affects them (health issues) or someone in their family or circle of friends. a few basic facts to the pm2.5 pollution: pm2.5 refers to fine particulate matter with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or smaller. sources: vehicle emissions, industrial processes, burning, wildfires etc. health impact: can penetrate deep into the lungs, causing respiratory and cardiovascular issues. measurement: expressed in micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m³). safe levels: the who recommends 15 µg/m³ (24-hour) and 5 µg/m³ (annual). Air Quality Index: pm2.5 of 15 µg/m³ = AOI 57 and 5 µg/m³ = AOI 21 prevention: use masks, air purifiers, and limit outdoor activities during high pollution levels. 2025 01 20 : AQI map of thailand .... https://aqicn.org/country/thailand/ -

Chiang Rai border drug trafficking clash leads to 4 deaths

i agree with you "do the crime, do the time", but it seems you're overlooking the fact that extrajudicial killings are also a crime and don't represent "doing the time for the crime" ... at least, that's how i see it. if someone drives drunk and causes a fatal accident, should this reckless person also be executed on the spot? or is that somehow different in your opinion? -
Chiang Rai border drug trafficking clash leads to 4 deaths

it seems that most of you fail to grasp the reality of the situation. over the past few years, similar reports have appeared regularly in the media. the same patterns repeat over and over: the smugglers initiate a firefight, a few drug smugglers are killed, no one is injured or wounded, and no one is arrested. on the army's side, after a "fierce" firefight, there are no injuries or fatalities either. if you believe this endlessly repeated story to be the truth and support extrajudicial killings, then you probably still believe this is the way to do it ... i hope you never find yourself in an argument with this kind of killing soldiers / peoples ... the army's method of shooting smugglers is deliberate. the soldiers who kill are rewarded with hefty bonuses (including for keeping quiet), and these killers are even treated as heroes (from people like you) . it’s an absolute disgrace ...
