US abandons Ukraine-Russia peace negotiations
connda replied to GroveHillWanderer's topic in The War in Ukraine
March 2022: The West and NATO: "Russia invaded Ukraine Unprovoked." Ignore NATO surrounding Russian and holding military drills on Russia's borders. "Russia is an aggressor and must be contained via NATO aggression." Russian conditions for concessions from Ukraine for an end to the SMO: Crimea is Russian. Donetsk is an autonomous zone and will hold a referendum to join Russia at a later date. Istanbul Accord initialed by all parties. Ukraine gives up joining NATO. Ukraine demilitarizes, de-Nazifies, and becomes a neutral state. US via Boris Johnson blew up the agreement and promised to supply weapons and money for "as long as it takes." US and NATO now work toward the military and economic destruction of Russia and the breakup of the Russia Federation. June 2024: Russian conditions for concessions from Ukraine based on conditions on the ground to end the SMO: Ukraine pulls troops from Kherson, Zaporozhia, Donetsk and Lugansk which are now Russia Federation territories at which time negotiations and ceasefire can begin. Ukraine gives up joining NATO. Ukraine demilitarizes, de-Nazifies, and becomes a neutral state. May 15th 2025: The West and NATO and Zelensky: We won't give up an inch of Ukraine! Germany will build the largest army in Europe (ya'll did that before, right?), France will put nukes in Germany and Poland, the UK and EU plan to go to war with Russia by 2030. And "Russia Is Losing The Conflict Badly and Russian Economy Is In Ruins!!!" "We refuse to meet with Russia." "Zelensky will meet with Putin but bad Putin only sent insects and orcs to negotiate." <three hour meeting between Erdogan and Zee> Zee: "Ok we'll meet at 3PM, ok 5PM ok 6PM, sod it, Friday morning at 10AM" <Zee gets on jet and leaves> May 16th 10AM to noon: Two hour meeting. Both side agree to exchange 1000 POWs. The West and NATO and Zelensky: We won't give up an inch of Ukraine! Germany will build the largest army in Europe. France will put nukes in Germany and Poland, the UK and EU plan to go to war with Russia by 2030. And "Russia Is Losing The Conflict Badly and Russian Economy Is In Ruins!!!. Russia must agree to a 30 day ceasefire so that NATO can pour weapons into Ukraine and retrench. Russian conditions for concessions from Ukraine based on conditions on the ground to end the SMO: Ukraine pulls troops from Kherson, Zaporozhia, Donetsk and Lugansk which are now Russia Federation territories at which time negotiations and ceasefire can begin. Ukraine gives up joining NATO. Ukraine demilitarizes, de-Nazifies, and becomes a neutral state. Take these conditions now or at the next meeting Russia's conditions for concessions will include Ukraine's giving up Kherson, Zaporozhia, Donetsk and Lugansk - and - Odessa, Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, and Kharkov. May 16 - 17 Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev puts an nice spin on the talks. Ukraine shows it's True Grit. "Oh, oh I see. Running away, eh?! You yellow b*****d! Come back here and take what's coming to you! I'll bite your legs off!!" Stay tuned... -
Codeine (I'm assuming Codein is a misspelling, but if it's a brand name then apologies) is a class 2 narcotic, requires a prescription, and is usually only available though hospitals via a prescription from a doctor, and here in Thailand, that would be dispensed at the hospital pharmacy. Get caught with it without a prescription, it's jail time. It's illegal. Same as people who get diazepam or lorazapam or other benzos OTC at a Thai pharmacy. No prescription, it's jail time. What happens to the pharmacy? Well, TIT - this is Thailand. A hand-slap and a brown envelope probably. I know of pharmacies that will sell tranquilizers OTC but I can't say I've ever come across a pharmacy selling Codeine. I get them from a doctor, i.e., I have a prescription. Use them on rare occasions for sleep. I wouldn't buy them from a pharmacy - too much potential risk. Thailand's narcotics laws are no joke.

US Passport Renewal Update Information

Give it three weeks to a month before you start to worry. Your passport might show up on your doorstep before you find an update on the web. There was very little feedback but mine showed up wayyyyy before I expected it to. I wrote a detailed account last year. Check it out: And this is where you need to go for passport status. If there is nothing there, don't worry about it too much. There is a lot of lag time. https://passportstatus.state.gov/ -
Robert De Niro Slams Donald Trump in Cannes Acceptance Speech
connda replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I detest these award ceremonies and stopped watching decades ago after they became a personal pulpits for political statements. DeNiro is irrelevant. The dude is now a mediocre actor infected with a mind-virus which is approaching epidemic proportions in liberal America. He should seek professional help. -
Substandard (by Western standards) palliative care readily available in most parts of Thailand. It's still in the stone-ages and is hampered by Thai elites/leaders aversion to drugs that are effective by using the excuse that those drugs "might be abused" so therefore they must be made difficult to obtain, for example, that's why you can't have morphine drips in a home setting. You might "abuse" your morphine while your dying. Heaven forbid.
-
However - it is good to have discussions like this. Things may change ever so slowly in Thailand, so discussions like that highlight the changes - good and bad.

Tramadol may make you feel better about being in pain, but it does next to nothing to alleviate pain. At end stage cancer the only thing that is going to make a difference are opioids, and not a low efficacy synthetic opioid with SSRI effects. Tram is a better fit for people with depression. Doctors giving paracetamol for cancer is inhuman. The lack of effective palliative care in Thailand is a disgrace. Thai "leaders" are so worried about morphine "being abused" that, like fentanyl patches, they make the drug difficult to impossible to obtain - then hand you a bottle of paracetamol for end stage cancer. It borders on sadistic. A poster above mentioned that drugs like opioid are in short supply. That is an artificial shortage. Take fentanyl which is an effective synthetic opioid. A day doesn't go by where the US isn't slamming China for fentanyl. Fentanyl is cheap to produce and plentiful. It's rarity in Thailand is a product of leadership which chooses to keep an effective palliative drug out of the hands of cancer patients and those is chronic pain. Again - it is sadistic and inhumane.

Germany Aims to Build Europe’s Most Powerful Army, Says Chancellor Merz

Been there, done that - how'd that work out the last time, 'eh? 🤔 And I'd guarantee that that new army would take up where the old (Nazi) army failed. Somewhere around Kursk on their march from Germany Eastward toward Moscow. Again. -

Not at home they didn't. You don't have to believe me. Wait for Sheryl to check in. The locals here who die of cancer and are in extreme pain will be send from our Amphur hospital to a provincial government hospital, in this case Lamphun Government Hospital were they'll be administered enough morphine to keep them out of extreme agony - but not to keep them comfortable. I've seen the conditions average Thais die in here in Thailand and it's not pretty or dignified.

I wonder how many of the suckers will fall for it again when their politicians campaign on giving all Thai citizens 10K each. Hell, it worked once, it should work again. "No, really. We really mean it this time. See, you put the other people into office and they lied to you. We're telling you the truth. Put us into office and you'll all get 10K THB. Honest!" -
Go to Switzerland and check out.

Sure - if their families live in London or New York. However, I imagine that the really wealthy and connected can get morphine and other pain killers that the "little people" and commoners will never have access to. If your name is ends in Shin, I'm sure you'd be taken care of. If your name if Bob Smith or Somchai Satang, you're going to be left to die in agony for lack of adequate palliative care. Remember? It's your karma and we can't have the hospitals creating morphine addicts now can we! And fentanyl patches. Heaven's forbid. Look at America. Fentanyl is bad. Very bad. Can't allow anyone to have that. If you're given fentanyl, you might die!!!
-
Nope. Nor are there any hospices. They don't exist here. And palliative care in hospitals is in the stone-ages, or non-existent. They'll hand you a bottle of Tylenol and wish you good luck. And the palliative care you can obtain will probably be inadequate if you can get it as Thai doctors have two problems. 1) They feel that the pain you experience is your karma and your own fault, and 2) they feel that if they give you adequate amounts of painkillers you'll become an "addict" (heaven forbid). And they aren't going to give you morphine to take home. It's extremely difficult to obtain except in hospitals and then only under certain conditions. And don't plan to be put on a machine to self-administer morphine based on your pain levels. They'll ration morphine and they won't care how much pain you are experiencing. They use to have fentanyl patches, but I'm pretty sure those were discontinued. See reasons 1 and 2 above. You're better off staying in your home country. This is no place to die if you're in pain. Where do you think wealthy Thais go to die if they have cancer? They don't stay here. Check Soapy Massage tycoon and politician Chuwit Kamolvisit. He left to go die in the UK. You can't get adequate palliative care here, and you won't get it at all for home use. Wishing you the best. 🙏
