  1. Haven't a child together shows commitment. Having a g/f for 15 years and never marrying does not show commitment. So that statement is neither "random" nor "strange." It's perfectly logical. I hate to be Captain Obvious, but there you have it. You're not going to get a marriage extension until they are convinced you are committed to the marriage and it's not a marriage of convenience (is it?). It's all about perceptions my friend. I've been married for 18 years to my Thai wife so I'm not necessarily sympathetic, and your situation raises a whole lot of questions about your actual commitment to marriage. Well - best of luck.
  2. I was married for three years while on a B-Visa and working. Changing over was a piece of cake other than the female IO was just a hostile charmer. If she was your g/f for that long, you had all the chances in the world to marry - and yet you didn't. I think immigration looks at that and thinks the same thing as the three week marriage comes off as a possible scam. "Live together for 15 years" but don't marry??? Then suddenly marry and apply for an extension based on marriage three weeks later??? 🤔 That's a poor look with "We married so I could get an extension based on marriage. I take it you're not working any longer. If you are, just stay on a work visa until you have a year of marriage under your belt. I don't see this as Thai Immigration being irrational. That's just poor planning on your part. Why did you wait 15 years to get married. Is your marriage "real" or did you marry her just to obtain a visa. I'd even ask that question. Personally I don't understand long-term relationships with no marriage - it shows a lack of commitment. Ah? So I can see the IO's point. Even in my book, if you stay together for 15 years but decide to get married and then immediately apply for a marriage extension - well - it looks fishy OP. I even think it looks fishy. My guess is you're rightfully going to be under a microscope for awhile. Don't blame Immigration. Put yourself in Thai Immigration's shoes. My guess is you're going to be border hopping for awhile to come back and "visit" your wife until Immigration are convicted that you actually are committed to the marriage. Or if still working (you're middle aged), so continue working stay. You're going to have to prove the financial ability to stay here.
  3. I don't hate Donald Trump. When I think of Donald Trump I don't break out in fits of anxiety and irrationality. I agree with many of the positions and priorities which Trump campaigned on such as getting men with the mental health issue of "gender dysphoria" out of women's sports and out of the military. As an anti-war US veteran, I supported his positions regarding ending conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, and elsewhere. There are many things I disagree with: tariffs, sanctions, the near promise of war with China, as well as kicking legal visa holders out of the country for exercising their First Amendment rights to freedom of speech which applies to all US citizens and those in the country legally. Both the Democrat and Republican proclivity to ignore the US Constitution I personally find problematic. However. Trump is a meglomanic and narcissist. He's a power-freak who needs to be the center of attention and who seems to believe that the world revolves around him and him alone. Those who don't fawn and defer to this megalomania and narcissism then become targets of his wrath. That in itself is not his primary problem though. Add to that that he is mercurial, unpredictable, and unable to maintain his focus on positions which he said he supported, then the next day he doesn't support, and a few hours later maybe he supports again, then he wake up in the morning and post something on Truth Social which is a mish-mash of his already confusing positions. We saw him whip-sawed in his foreign policy positions in his first term. Many of us who thought that after being heavily influenced by neo-cons in his first administration, we actually thought that he had learned from that and would establish and implement well-thought out strategies to solve many of the problems both overseas, as in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as domestically. That hasn't happened. Instead he is again whip-sawed in his positions on foreign and domestic policy on almost a daily basis. You don't know which Donald Trump you're going to wake up to in the morning: Donald Trump the Peace-Maker of the World and Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, or The Donald Trump Pouring Gasoline On Regional Conflicts Because The Leaders of The World Refuse To Do As The Donald - Ruler Of The World, Tells Them To Do. My informed guess is like those of Col Douglas McGregor and Col Lawrence Wilkerson (chief of staff to Colin Powell in the early 2000s) and other military officers who are not neo-con war-mongers, and that is that Trump seems to be influenced by the last person who fawned at his feet and whispered in his ear. The bottom line is stability. There is no stability in this administration. From one day to the next, or even one hour to the next - you don't know what his positions on crucial and dangerous Geopolitical conflicts is going to be: Flip-flop. Flip-flop. Flip-flop. Unlike Biden, Trump IS in the wheel-house steering the ship. In Biden's case, Biden was tucked in the bilge of the ship while others in his administration steered the ship. In Trump's case, Trump is at the wheel steering the ship, but he steers it in the direction of whomever comes into the wheel-house, kisses his ass, and flattered him the most. "You are a God Mr President, steer this way." "You are the most powerful man in history Mr President, steer that way." "You are the pope incarnate Mr President, let's turn the ship around." "You are Jesus Mr President, let's sink the ship and you can make us all walk on water." This instability is a recipe for disaster. I'm seriously concerned with what I'm seeing. By the way, I probably triggered most of the Progressive Left members here with this post: https://aseannow.com/topic/1359718-what-is-it-about-trump-that-triggers-you-and-causes-you-so-much-angst-and-unease/ Now I'm going to trigger the MAGA and neo-con members with this post. Let the chips fall where they may. I call it like I see it.
  4. Pai should be claimed as part of Greater Israel and all of the Thais removed and moved to Bangkok. Then Pai could be reverted back to a literal Garden of Eden by ecology conscious Israelis and the problem would be solved.
  5. Dentist office: please take your shoes off. Veterinarian: please take your shoes off. Doctor's office: please take your shoes off. Some cafes and restaurants: please take your shoes off. TIT. This is NOT a uncommon request by proprietors of businesses in Thailand. Your business, your rules. If you don't like the rules, don't patronize the business.
  6. They are all Antisemitic and should be thrown into dungeons. She is one of God's chosen people and should be treated with reverence and respect.
  7. Human Rights: "Vote the wrong way and you are a terrorist!" "Pray on the streets and you're breaking the law and will be imprisoned." "Criticize the government at your own peril." "Men who say they are women - are women - and if you say different you'll be locked up." "There are only two parties: Tories and Labor. If you are in a different party, you are a terrorist." "White people are bad people. If you say anything different, you'll be thrown into prison as a racist." "All Palestinians are terrorists. Say anything different and you are a terrorist too." "Ukraine is the most Democratic country in Europe. If you say anything different, you'll be press-ganged and sent to the Eastern Front." "Putin is Hitler. Say anything different, and you're Putin's Puppet and a terrorist." "If your daughters were gang raped by migrants, shut up and get over it. They are invited guest of the government. Complain and both you and your daughters will be imprisoned as racists and xenophobes. Gang rapes and grooming gangs are just "boys having a little fun. Stop complaining!" "Orban is a terrorist. If you agree with Orban you're a terrorist. We're working on getting rid of him." "If you don't like the unelected European Union and your unelected leaders, you'll be put on a List. By the way, this is called "Democracy" and if you call it anything else - you're a terrorist!"
  8. Translated: "If you don't believe me, you obviously need mental health care."
  9. 💰💰 💰💰 💰 "He was knocking on death's doors. And then he was pardoned and after his release - his recovery was simply miraculous. It was a miracle I say - THANK BUDDHA for his recovery!" 💰💰 💰💰 💰💰💰💰 And I'm sure if Yingluck comes back she'll be at death's door as well. 💰 💰💰 💰
  10. I don't have two houses on a rai of land, a wife, and an extended family in Vietnam.
  11. The Op is probably making the point that it's one set of rules for Thailand and another for "foreigners."
  12. Vietnam Tourism Threat Looms: Could It Overtake Thailand? "Vietnam Tourism Threat?" Oh my goodness. Should Thailand go to war with Vietnam to counter the "threat?" Thailand should try some serious introspection: The world does not revolve around Thailand and its culture. Make tourist feel unwelcome and they go elsewhere. So figure out what Vietnam is doing better than Thailand and adjust.
  13. Cut up lettuce and veggies Pour dressing Add $1 Billion Dollar Campaign Financing Instant US Presidential Candidate
  14. Don't look at India and Pakistan both of which are nuclear armed countries who hate each other - and we're downwind. You're problems probably aren't as desperate at the possible nuclear war brewing to the West of us. So? Enjoy life. Don't worry, be happy.
  15. Why do NPR and PBS need government funding? They are extremely biased to the Left. If they want to truly be "public" then let the "public" who listens to them provide the fund for them.
  16. Add in Alinsky's Rules For Radicals and then you have the recipe used to fabricate whatever twisted "reality" that these sick people wish to force on the rest of humanity. I wonder how progressive liberal women who actually have a female child explain it to their kids and teen-aged daughters? "I'm sorry honey, but the girl who swims faster than you, runs faster than you, who has 50% more muscle-mass than you, who has a penis, and can physically beat you to a pulp - well honey, he's she's just better than you." There's the entire women's rights movement just flushed down the loo by the "woman" who is standing up and peeing all over the toilet seat.
  17. Men pretending to be women in order to beat women in women sports. There is something that is simply sick about that.
  18. But the Biden, Obama, and pretty much every other administration before Trump did the same thing. They only allowed a select few media voices to be heard. You had to be employed by a major media network which it turn was owned either by a multinational corporation or a billionaire. The exact same individuals and corporation which provide the political funding to put the politicians in office. It WAS a closed loop. Trump opened his press conferences to a new group on independent media voices. What did Biden do for the last 4 years. Mumble and fart at a podium, read from a Teleprompter, read his staff's index cards instructing him how not to f***-up, then turn around and stumble off the stage while ignoring all of the press.
  19. Dude - You are over-thinking this wayyyyyyy too much. My first post is 100% self-explanatory and explains what I'm thinking and why. There is no "this is connda's conspiracy to make 'the political personal'." Don't make this into "placehlder's person conspiracy theory about the OP's post." Go back to the beginning of the OP, re-read my post. The questions is straightforward. clear, and succinct. I'll summarized it again: "For those of you who despise this man, what is it about him that collectively drives you all to the edge of normal, rational sanity," what is triggering you all to the extreme. Again - I find that fascinating and therefore wrote the Op. I'd really like to understand. And if you believe I'm MAGA, I'm not. That is in the first post of this OP as well. I'm a old classical liberal, I've voted Democrat most of my life, but like other Democrats I dumped the party due to its woke, progressive radicalism that has nothing to do with the tenets of the Democrat party I grew up in: anti-war, pro-civil rights, a supporter of that ACLU, pro-social-safety-net, pro-capitalism with with regulations and limits in order to rein in predatory capitalism (like we have today). But then the Democrat party went off the rails. I've stated this before. I voted for Jill Stein as my "personal politics" align closer to Stein then any other US presidential candidate on the 2024 ticket. So trust me, I'm in a real political minority in the realm of US politics. Now, if you want to, go make your own OP and ask real Trump supporting MAGA types what drives them. Quite a number of respondents have raised that issue, i.e., "What is it that drives MAGA sycophants?" That's a valid question too, and one that I pointed out way at the beginning of this thread when others brought that question up. And I find that fascinating too. So placeholder, stop the conspiracy theory about what you think my deep dark ulterior motives are. There are none. Go back and read the initial post, read this post - then you have it all. There is nothing else there. Don't fabricate motives out of thin air and attempt to attribute them to me. You just end up looking silly and conspiratorial.
  20. Health or Privilege? Court Probes Thaksin’s Extended Hospitalization Neither. Money and power. Otherwise he would have been in GenPop - but he never came close. But? Money and Power = Privilege. So there ya have it! Health? 🐂💩 Bravo Sierra.
  21. Unlike Spain, Thailand still has coal fired plants and a more diverse mix of generation capacity. If they want to address energy security, they should start looking at nuclear.
