BoC doing a great job with the stock crisis.
What goes up, must come down. Better to be first to bite the bullet. And anyway, the best thing for a Central Bank (BoC) to do in an economic reset is get out of the way and let it happen. Now, when the Western markets implode, China might be in a position to become the center of global finance: Bye bye London, hello Shanghai. It'll be interesting to see where the 'smart money' goes during the next decade. I think men like Jim Rogers and Marc Faber have that one figured out. Might be smart to just follow their lead. And anyway, the Chinese play the 'long-game'. This is just a hiccup.

RIP. You changed the face of the world. May you be free from suffering.

Slow day at the news desk, 'eh. This is a daily occurrence throughout Thailand.

Phi Mai historical complex, Wat Chedi Luang, and Wat Arun. And then for fun, Wat Maeta-Krai at the end of highway 1229 in Northern Thailand.

The one my toilets in.
The one's with clean farang toilets, and free tissue paper plus a 'butt shower'.

Fast forward. On the ticket in 2016:
Dem: Hillary
Rep: Jeb
Independent: Trump
Everything else is meaningless. Bread and circuses. Hopefully Trump will continue to act totally Politically Incorrect.

Just to balance things out, today the Independent reported here that solar scientists believe there will be a mini ice age in 15 years. If this is true, the climate will be somewhat more temperate. There is also a plan for a Chinese firm to build a canal through the south of Thailand. So if a $3 billion seawall is all that's necessary to protect the capital as the article states (half of GDP), then Thailand's GDP may be higher in the future and the wall would be more affordable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Climate Denier!!! <Puut len - just kidding>. My name doesn't have the initials A.G. and I have no interesting in running a business that manages carbon credits (for a multi-billion dollar fee) for countries taxing the life out of their populations based on a well crafted propaganda movie that immediately appealed to the majority of the population whom study neither history nor have critical thinking skills, i.e., most everybody.
You obviously keep up with the solar cycle and the really steep decline in sunspot activity, and it's historical effect on weather patterns - e.g., The Maunder Minimum. So yeah, this place could easily become more temperate, and the three phase season cycle (hot, rain, cool) might actually change to something else.
On the flip side, maintaining Thai sovereignty might be a little dicey too when countries above, say, 50 degrees N latitude will be migrating south. Phuket/Pattaya may become a little more Russian than they currently are, Greece may become a great place to live, sub-Saharan Africa may become somewhat dominated by EU colonials again, an ain't nobody gonna be living on Greenland, but that's cycle has played out more than once in the last 3 thousand years. Lol. I hope I'm around to see it.

Keep putting more weight on it and it'll sink faster. If this was China, they'd have a 50 year plan and the move to a new capital would already be in the works. If this was the US. the folks on capitol hill can't plan out further out than 1 election cycle, so most DC residents would probably be issued inflatable life jackets to told to swim to safety once their neighborhood was underwater. I'm thinking the Thai government plans will revolve around a solution that make a small amount of people a massive amount of money, and will be implemented when the Chao Praya is covering Lumpini Park.
-
Maybe I'll make that trip in 2 or 3 years, but then again, my Thai wife has no interest in going to the US. And I don't see the point of going alone. So yeah, it's a difficult decision. Best of luck.

How many of the traffic laws in the Second Most Dangerous Country To Drive In on Earth get enforce? A fraction. A cop citing an individual is almost always at a road block. How many traffic infractions happen at a highly visible road block? A fraction of a fraction. Where are most of the infractions taking place? Where there are no road blocks, hence, no cops.
So apply the logic to graft. Who's going to be a target? A political or business adversary. Who is going to determine what is 'corruption'? Whoever is in power. How do you get to be 'in power'? Follow the money. Where does 'the money' often lead to? Lol - corruption.
Welcome to the land of circular logic that many of us call 'home'.With that said, I want to see the "Human Rights" outrage the first time they execute a farang or other foreigner. The chances of them executing a person from a First World Western country is about zip, zero, nada. Maybe some poor sot from another banana republic, but not a country with 'clout'. And I doubt they'd actually execute any foreigner for 'corruption' due to the Court of World Opinion. This ain't China! This isn't even China-lite. But, best of luck. Hot air imho.

Have to agree with the sentiment here.. stupid and dumb remark. But one has to wonder how many people in the USA think the same about illegal Mexicans and people in the UK and EU about illegal Muslim immigrants. There are quite a few people who think like this on this forum many would love to have the Thai tough immigration rules in their home country.
For the record I think this is a stupid remark and the general should be ashamed.
No need to wonder.
Broad Public Support for Legal Status for Undocumented ImmigrantsMost Support Path to Legal Status for Undocumented Immigrants in U.S.With immigration shaping up to be a major issue in both the final years of the Obama administration and the 2016 presidential campaign, most Americans (72%) continue to say undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S. should be allowed to stay in the country legally, if certain requirements are met.I personally don't care anymore. Open up the boarder as far as I'm concerned. I don't live there. (Consider that a 'no real opinion' vote - lmao) Once the US has hit Third World status, maybe my Thai son and grandkids can go over for a vacation in cheap America.
"Luang Daa Farang, in Los Angles you can rent a hotel room in a 4 star hotel for the equivalent of 1000 THB and a dinner for the family would be the equivalent of 200 baht. And I hear that farang women will give you a 'long-time' for around 100 THB, but you have to watch out for them. They all want to marry rich Asians, but most of them have dead-beat farang boyfriends. You hear it all the time, 'My mom needs money because her 20 year old Lexus is in the shop again. You've got to watch them like hawk or they'll steal you blind"
Grandad Farang: Ha ha ha ha ha...........ha ha ha ha ha!!!

Dose this guy leave a bunch of dead dogs in his wake. If not a habitual stabber of dogs, why this
one. Did the dog attack him? Was it self defence? Lots more to the story than the article
reports. Bad owner, bad dog, difficult breed, owner wants a payoff. I look forward to a more
flushed out thorough article.
Agreed!

He's a racist buffoon and the face of the Republican party. He should have the nomination wrapped up by the fall.
He's a realist calling it how it is in the face of Political Correctness. It all depends on your perspective, or how well you've been indoctrinated into the
Borg...Nanny-Statecollective. -
Trump will hopefully drop out of the race before he does too much damage to his political party. He is a businessman and he is fairly hot tempered. He can't just fire congress. Businessmen do a good job with businesses, but politics is a different animal.
If all the politicians were dumped and replaced by businessmen and entrepreneurs, we might have a functional world again. Politicians are essentially societal parasites. Feed off the system and contribute nothing of value.
-
Whether you like him or not, the man is blunt, and to the point on his beliefs, and doesn't hide behind "political correctness", which is more than you can say about 99.9% of ALL politicians.
Amen!

He's an ex-Navy <deleted>! Every <deleted>ing sailor knows that you can conjugate the word <deleted> as a noun, verb, adjective, and adverb, and should be used liberally in every <deleted>ing sentence. <deleted>!!! They teach you that in <deleted>ing bootcamp!

Chew some and it's like drinking a few red bulls. If they actually legalized it (as it is in many other countries) they might put a dent in the methamphetamine trade, considering the average Somchai on the street would have access to a natural 'pick-me-up' instead of going for the yaba. But, think of the effect on the 'energy drink' industry and then you'll understand why it will remain illegal forever in this particular country.

Someone inform the karaoke bar owners on Chang Klang Road in CM. Lol

Why didnt the Ruskie just call Cesar Millan?

I carry a knife with me everywhere. How do they know he was drunk?
Okay, I'll be the one to ask... why do you carry a knife with you everywhere..?
I have a swiss army knife. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why I carry one, but progressive liberals from nanny states, for whatever reason, can't seem to grasp the understanding. Let's see: it has a screw-driver, it has a can opener, it has a bottle opener, it has a phillips-head driver, and oh, it has a couple of blades too <Gasp!!!> , among other things. <head shake>
"You could put your eye out with that!"
Yeah, and if push came to shove, I could probably end a Pitt-bull attack too.
"But, if he was attacked, he should have called the tourist police and waited from them to arrive to handle the situation, and really, he should have just played dead and the puppy would have left him alone." <head shake again>
That Pitt Bull is as much of a 'puppy' as Micheal Brown was a 'child'. Unlike what they tell you in your nanny-state schools, unlike sex, when it comes to dogs - size does matter when it comes to breeds like Pitt Bulls.
-
Abject stupidity and political correctness at it's best. And the troopers were wearing grey uniforms. <Gasp>. A Confederate color??? My God, that color should be outlawed as it represents slavery and racial suppression.
And now for our 2 minutes of Hate... "Ban Grey, Ban Grey. Ban Grey." "Grey is not a Rainbow color; Grey is not a Rainbow color; Grey is not a Rainbow color!!!"
<head shake>
Orwell was spot on. Even a blind man to see it unfold, well, unless said individual is a progress liberal, then that one could have 20/20 vision and still be as blind as a bat. The US is well on the road to an Orwellian future, right along with most of the West. End game? Domination.
What fun is Power if you don't get to exercise it?
Hey, I know what would be fun!!! Let's burn all the history books and rewrite history too. Whatdoyathink Sparky?

Checkup in the United States:
"Do you have to report to US immigration every 90 days?"

"Very good. Can you become a resident?"

If I learn enough English and US history, yes. Or if a marry a US citizen. Easy.
"Good. Well, it seems you are doing fine in the US. Do you send money back to your family?"
Yes
"Very good. Keep doing so. Have you been attacked by any muslim extremists."Nope. Haven't seen any.
"Good. Well, enjoy your new home. Come back for visits and bring $$$ with you."

I'm sure that comment will endear him with the Human Right's crowd. I'm sure the Human Right's World Leader (I'm pretty good at killing people) Drone Master will have already issued a statement condemning Prayut's remarks. But on the flip-side, talk about jingoism at it's finest. Lol We live in interesting times.
US: Everybody into the pool! Why is the 2016 GOP field so big?

Yeah, Ross Perot syndrome. Unfortunately what the US needs today is a president (and congress) who are not career politicians. But the US population is just plain to dumbed-down to vote their own career politicians out of office and bring in fresh blood who will start working for the good of the country. Citizens United v. FEC? Criminy, the Supreme Court hooked the politicos and big business at the hip though unlimited campaign contributions. Mussolini had a word for that. People who study history know what that word is. Few people study history nowadays. Baaaaaa. Sheep.
